**Official August 2011** Post your dates and resort!

I'll keep my eyes open! You can see my picture in my avatar (I'm 5 feet 3 inches) and will be with my two sons who are 6 feet 2 inches tall.

Are you requesting a certain building at POFQ? Do you decorate your door or windows? This is my first time at POFQ and I'm not sure if I should request a particular building (non-preferred room)?

Gina

We put in a request for building 4, 1st floor...my mom suggested this one, I guess it's closest to the bus stop and stuff. This is our first time at POFQ as well, we've done POR before though.
I've never decorated my door or anything before...but that gives me something to think about! Any good ideas?

PS I like your username, Eeyore is my mom's favorite Pooh character :)

30 more days!!
The last time I went was Christmas of 1986. I was 6 years old. :cloud9: Now, after 25 years, it's time for the next generation. My sister (39), nephew (10), and I (31) are going between august 19th & 29th. Because of the poor economy and student budgets... etcetera; we're having to do a VERY budget vacation: so we're stay off-property. I've been looking at every website, youtube clip, and piece of advice I can find for going to Disney in August. Any more tips I can glean from you guys before we head off?

p.s: the best tip i've found so far is bring your own rain ponchos and save $8 each. :D

-Cheers !

Being a single mom, I totally get the budget thing! BUT I like to look out for me DIS peeps, so can I ask if you were aware of the room only promotion/discount at WDW for you dates? The values are $69.00 a night plus tax = $825.00 total for 1 room w/ 2 beds for 10 nights.

The perks of having FREE transportation to/from airport (if applicable), FREE transportation from resort to parks (saves a TON of time vs. off property), NOT paying parking fees and access to EXTRA magic hours in the parks (maximizing your time) are priceless in my opinion.

My tip: Buy your own bottled water/soda/sport drinks and bring into parks. Refill at restaurants and bring flavored drink pixies (crystal lite, hawaiian punch, gatorade, etc.) to add a little flavor.

I hope you have a magical time!!

I felt the same way yesterday. I looked at the date and realized it was exactly one month. When I said something to my daughter her eyes lit up, too. We are both ready to leave today!!

Beach Club :goodvibes 1st week in August.

Is it wrong that I'm starting to get worried about the weather. I can handle heat, I can handle the afternoon rain, what I can't handle is all day rain. I know I shouldn't even be looking but accuweather has 15 day forecast that has rain all week so far! :scared1:

Please reassure me this will change 14 more times before we arrive.

Doesn't mean it will be an all day rain. Often it rains in the afternoon and sometimes it can rain in one park but not another. We did go in July a few years ago and it did rain all day for several days. We've been pretty lucky in August so far though!

LaurenT, where are you staying?
always: what dates specifically so that I can add you to the list!

I've been down in Lakeland, FL about a half hour west of Disney area and it seems like clockwork everyday raining in the afternoon for about an hour or so. It's not a horrible rain and it's either short or light showers. August should be better plus the humidity should go down a bit.

Hope that helps! :) I will be down working(and visiting Disney on days off) Aug 1 - August 9 in Lakeland. Love the perks of being a flight attendant. Also, sorry for not updating in a while.

Hope this makes everyone happy!

Oh my gosh that is so true!! Two years ago (in August) my youngest son and I were Hollywood Studios and the other son/friend were at Magic Kingdom. We had to return to the room to change clothes after getting stuck in a monsoon!!!! I'm from Oregon and know all about rain but those raindrops in Florida hold 1 cup of water in each drop :lmao:! My other son didn't get a drop of rain at MK and thought we had fallen into the pool when he saw how wet we were.

Good thing about August rain in Florida is that it's 90+ degrees out so it actually feels good!

:dance3: Got Mickey Mail!:dance3: Now I just have to figure out how those new luggage tags go together!?!:confused3
