I was planning on telling my daughters, ages 9 and 5, about our August trip in June. Unfortunately, they found out yesterday.
I was talking to a friend's wife on the street -- she had just come back from a one day whirlwind visit to DL. We met outside our local kosher food store (Passover shopping).
Anyway, she says, "When is your next visit to Disney World?"
Me: "Oh, I don't know."
Her: "Really, I thought you were planning on going in August."
Me: "Nah, I wish."
Her: "Gee, my husband said you had got a good airfare."
and it actually continued on!
My kids were right there and that's how they found out. I've denied it and said she was confusing me with someone else, but I didn't make the sale with the 9 year old.
I'm really disappointed to say the least.
For what it's worth, she has apologized profusely as has her husband.
I'm going to try to fake out the kids with an elaborate description of a vacation on the Cape, but I really feel like someone popped my balloon.
:-(
