Aug 22-28 POP Put our deposit down yesterday. Last year I promised my DD that I would take her and my 2 DGDs (9+13) in 2007. And trust me, they never forgot about it! In order make it affordable, this will be a b-u-d-g-e-t trip, but we are going!! Only 7-1/2 months away, how will I ever get it all planned in time....ahhh....don't ya just luv it!??
So when are you going, and where are you staying?

8/11-8/21/2007 POR
We booked this trip when we were there in December. We have two rooms booked but I'm guessing my oldest won't go so we will only need one room. I'm a little nervous about going in August! I'm more worried about the crowds than the heat.

We are going Aug. 6-16. But that's tentative on DH's (in the USAF) going TDY to a school in Texas. Then we'll adjust to Aug. 13-23. We're staying at Old Key West this time.
If you know how to work the crowds, it's not so bad. We went to Disneyland the week before Easter this year (Air Force conference) and it was so much more crowded than I've ever seen it in August at DW. :scared1: It made August look like the middle of September. Or March

We're going in August too!!! Aug 18-28!! Beach club here we come! It seems so far away but there is still so much planning to do!! I'm really looking forward to this trip!:cool1:

4lilpoohs...don't worry about August. The crowds are not bad AT ALL...the lines are so totally doable...plus there is always fast pass, which is a godsend!!! The heat, now that is something else. It IS hot and grody humid and you sweat all day long. You just have to know when to duck into stores to get some air and make sure that you stay hydrated.

Booked for August 13-21 at POP then on to AKL for 2 nights~a surprise for our DS. Can't wait. The Florida box has been opened and packing of some items has begun.:cool1:

OMG!! I'm not the only one who has a 'going to WDW' stash box!! People think I am nuts when I go on any vacation and start squirreling things away long before (but ya know, when we can spend the $200 everyone else is spending on groceries for their trip on other things when the time comes ....:yay: )

Anyway, count me in for an Aug/Sep trip...me, 2 parent chaperones and 18 middle schoolers at the ASMo!! I'll have my Prozac this trip (not really! My students are the best in the world!)

We are staying at BCV August 16-26. We've never let a hurricane, thunderstorm, torrential downpour or stifling humidity ruin our fun yet, and sometimes it's actually pleasant in August!

Hi there! There are 11 of us going 8/5 - 8/12! POFQ and WL.

My family is leaving Saturday morning for Orlando/Universal and we're not packed! :scared1: I'd better get crack-a-lackin'!

Hi
We're going to Pop, my fifth time there, August 17th to the 24th. I'm going with my DD, DGD4, and my three nieces, age 13 twins, and 10. I made my reservations during my Dec. trip for the bounce back promotion with free dining. My nieces have never been to DW, so I'm reallly excited about taking them.:yay:Also, we went for the magical beginnings last Aug. before the park opened to the rest of the people and we walked on to everything. It was so empty. I've never seen it like that, even with EMH!!

We'll be there from aug. 14-24 at ASMo. We booked during our christmas trip.

Count me in! DH said that he wants to go in August AND possibly December!!

I think our dates will be the 7-14 staying at POR, tho we may try CBR or CS.

As a vertern August tripper I can say it's hotter than you know what, but the crowds are MUCH lower than any other summer month. Most schools in the south go back at the beginning of August and up North we're getting them ready to go back at the end of the month.

So the later your trip is in the month, the smaller the crowds will be.

I think most August threads end up sharing heat coping strategies, so I thought I'd start.

1.I bought a small fan at the Disney store for $1 on clearance last month. I prefer this little fan to the big ones that have the water. The little ones are much more comfy.

2. a. Be the envy of everyone in line with your very own Misty Mate! You fill it with water and it sprays a fine mist. It has a strap and my DH wears it around his waist. Even when your water gets hot, it still feels awesome.
b. CMs will give you ice for free at the CS stands, so you can put your ice in the misty mate to be truly cool!

3. Cool Max clothing. I have used the tank tops and socks and they are great. I noticed that they now sell Cool Max bras (at least Lane Bryant does)! You can find the items at Target.

4. Stay hydrated!! I bring my Brita water bottle so I can fill up at the drinking fountains. (tho I probably won't need to if we get the free DP!!).

5. Take breaks in the afternoon. It's most crowded then anyway, so go back to the resort and swim and nap.

I have more if you want them!

Aug. 10-20 ASMo with FREE DINING.
We went last Aug. with free dining and loved it.
We were at Pop over Christmas and booked our Aug. trip with free dining.

Great tips! We were already planning on daily breaks and I bought a misty mate at walmart. Now I am off to check out Cool Max. Sounds interesting.

August 13-21st at POFQ. We are going right before I go back to work (teacher) and will be there for my dd 4th birthday! princess: I can't think of a greater place to celebrate a birthday, and luckily for me my dd agrees! She can't wait to celebrate with her princess friends!

I have a dresser! :rotfl: No really, my nightstand is full of all the stuff I've printed out, reservation info, maps, any pertinent info and everything I've "picked up" for the trip - $1 ponchos, DIS antenna ball, those neck wrap thingies, my DIS fanny pack, etc.! Unfortunately, it's about out of room and we still have almost 7 months to go!

We'll be at an Emerald Island house from July 28th - August 11th and will do 10 days at Disney, 2 at Universal, along with some golf, tours, etc.!

Count me in too!!!! Right now I am looking at the 22nd through the 30th. Dh said yesterday, that he would be sending the deposit just as soon as I pick a resort! He can't go as he will be back teaching at the college then. I am taking the DGDs, age 10 at the time. I am leaning towards the Movie All Stars. Think that they will get a real kick out of the themeing. I have never stayed there in all the years that I have been going. Anyone can tell me which building to stay in? I have developed a problem with my legs and I think that I will need to be nearer the bus stops and the food court. (Sucks to get old!!!) I am also hoping for free dining during that time. We had it last year and it was fantastic!! Luckily the girls are not picky eaters and are up for trying new things. Gotta love that!!!! :rotfl: Cannot wait!!!!
