OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

Well, it's all up in the air for a few days - he looked up flight prices in case he could come for part of the trip and go home early, too - we'd lose about $30 on his tickets (no big deal) and the flight home would be about $230 if he left on Thursday morning (instead of Monday morning). So that's a possibility too (although we'd have a ton of extra dining credits, but with the FD upgrade to DXDP that's still only about $100 lost (at the cost of credits, I'm sure we'll have already gotten our money's worth in the first four days anyway)

So there are options, although not good ones. But in this economy, a steady job is way more important, so hopefully we'll know something by Monday and can start figuring out what we're going to do.

Good Luck w/ everything!! I'm unemplyed right now and so happy for your DH. I just wish a little pixie dust will come my way soon!

Hello everyone - So I started a new job (part time) about 3 weeks ago, and last week one of my co-workers came to me and said she was planning a trip to Disney could I help, I said SURE, when are you going? Her answer was "next Friday" I thought to myself - next friday, I can't plan a trip to Disney in a week -but I did sent her some websites and basic info, then yesterday she came to me and said " so we leave in the morning, what was that website you said I should go to see what day to go to what park" OMG - I thought I was going to have a panic attack.....how do people go to Disney without any kind of plans??? I don't get it.

(this coming from the girl that started making our matching shirts 3 months before out trip, and had our touring plans down about the same time)

This is how we roll !! Usually we get up in the morning and I ask my kids "where do you want to go today ?" and i let them decide. Other days I have a tentative plan .. but nothing is ever set in stone. But then again .. we did this every year, so we know where we are going and what we are doing. I don't recommend it for a newbie.

How much would they charge us for a rollaway? That would solve our problem! DS 11 is small, 60lbs, so he would be comfortable on one of those and DS13 could get the sofa bed to himself! Thanks everyone:thumbsup2

I have requested a rollaway bed and they told me the charge would be $15.00 per night. But I am staying in a value resort, so they may not charge for mods or deluxe resorts. Not sure.:)

I've only been researching our Disney trips for this upcoming trip and the one prior (I know, you would never know considering how detailed my planning has become now), so I can relate with your co-worker. That used to be me. But I can honestly say that the previous Disney trips we had a BLAST even without research/planning. Ignorance can be blissful! :lmao:

One funny story (especially knowing what I know now). During that same trip, we were at Epcot World Showcase. It was about 4pm and DW, DD, and I were taking a break sitting at a bench and we were starting to get hungry so we decided to look for a place to eat an early dinner. DW looks over to her right and casually says "Oh look, that looks like a sit-down restaurant. Should we eat there?". I saw a pretty decent crowd milling around in the front waiting for their tables, so I said "Hmmm, looks like the wait could be awhile". So DW decides to walk over to the hostess and find out how long of a wait this would be. She comes back and says that the restuarant is completely booked. So we left the Canadian Pavillion and eventually ate burgers and fries at a QS in Future World. YUP! That sit down restuarant was Le Cellier. :lmao: I still chuckle now when I think about it but back then I had nooooo clue what an ADR was or how some of the TS places were difficult to get into!

I was actually kinda disappointed in the luggage tags. For our 2010 trip we got these hard plastic Cinderella castle ones, and these are so flimsy! And ours aren't red, either, they are teal borders with holograms with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy.

I was just saying to Daveinfallschurch - do the guests get different coloured luggage tags depending on their shuttle choice to the hotel? Ie: ME vs Car?

Mine & Daveinfallschurch are red. I have a private SUV driving my family and I, and Dave is renting a car...... I was just wondering how do the ME people know what luggage to take?

Yes..In 5 Days And 8 Hours

Maybe I shouldn't say it like that, I don't plan every minute, and I don't even follow a "plan" when I referenced the touring plan, I meant the crowd calender. We do what we want when we want to, I just know what to hit first thing and what to fastpass. I know what I am doing at Disney and when and were to go, but for someone who hasn't been in 20 years.....different story. She is there during spring break - WORST TIME TO GO, thinking she is just going to walk in and do what she wants to. She has no idea of the crowds she is about to face. I tried to tell her, without scaring her. I begged her to check the best days to go. I hope they have a great time, but they only plan for 2 days, she said that would would plenty....UGGG. I guess if you don't know about all 4 parks, it would be easy to think that. I would not even bother to go if I only had 2 days (is that snobby???) I guess it really comes down to this.....I LOVE Disney, and I just want everyone else to enjoy it as much as I do. I tear up at first glance of the Castle, I skip down main street. It's a different world, a magical world, and there are no worries in that world. I am very thankful that my DH loves Disney as much (if not more) then I do. Also I think it comes down to this - my son and husband have has some serious health issues and have both been in and out of the hospital for the past 8 years and last year was the first year that both of them were not in the hospital a single day and when my DH said "I want to go to Disney to celebrate" I saw a hope in him that I had not seen in about 5 years, so I think that also makes Disney a little more magical for me - it gave him...all of us really, hope for a healthy life. My son didn't go with us last year for a couple of reasons...1) he is 17 so he didn't think it was "cool" to go to Disney, and 2) b\c he can't ride rides b\c of his condition/disease (Chiari) and he didn't want to go this year either, but when we started planning this years trip back in January, he said "I think I want to go with you next year":cool1: My heart skipped a beat b\c having all 4 of us there will be magical again. So planning for me is "hope" in a future with my family that I haven't had a lot of in 8 years.

Sorry to ramble, I can't help but be thankful for all of the planning - It means there is hope to me.

:lmao::rotfl: - Yep that one is funny. I got the planning thing from my dad. I plan everything.

I guess this question doesn't really "go" here, but I don't know where to put it and I check this thread daily (okay...several times daily :rotfl:). I am making autograph books for the girls ~ how many pages should I put in it? We have character dining at CRT, Akershus, CP, Tusker House, and O'hana (I think that's it). We will stop for autographs, but other than character meals, probably won't go out of our way to get anyone (exept the rest of the princesses: Tiana, Rapunzel, and Mulan and Pocahontas). Do you think 40 pages is enough? I want enough, but don't want to have a lot of empty pages left either.

I'm guessing you're planning on one signature for each page. So, CRT has 5 princesses, Akershus has 5 princesses, CP has 4 characters, TH has 5, and Ohana has 4. So I would think 40 pages should be more than enough. Also, the princesses between CRT and Akershus are most likely going to be exactly the same so you'll have to decide whether you're going to get duplicate sigs.

Last trip we used the book sold at the parks, and we were one page short. The last character DD met was Mulan and we didnt have a page for her so we had to ask her to sign in the page Aurora did. I felt a little bad, but she was very nice to DD and she asked who she all met and looked through the whole book with her and talked to her about them. Of course my guilt meter went up a little more since I'm sure she noticed a lot of duplicate sigs from other princesses. :teeth:

They send special yellow ME luggage tags for people who are using ME.

Thanks for the input! I figured most of the princesses would be the same, and we won't do duplicate signatures. I *might* get a photo mat to take with me for our second princess ressie. Which book did you use? One trip my DD used the autograph book with the photo pages and we ran out of pages. I should go see how many are in there and then I could get an idea. And I forgot about the fairies, although I think there will just be a couple there.

29 DAYS!!!! :cool1:

I am starting to get worried though. When I did my initial planning and made my adr's, I had no idea about websites like easywdw and that I should avoid parks on certain days. Most of my days revolve around parks that are NOT recommended. I am figuring the crowds won't be too bad the week of 4/22-4/29 but I am really worried that our trip won't be as enjoyable if I don't switch some days around. :confused3

Just have a good touring plan once you are in the park and you'll be fine! I did look at easywdw, but still picked the parks I wanted on the days I wanted, regardless of what it said. We were there last year on New years day through the week and did everything we wanted. I don't know if we were in the recommended parks or not, but we had a plan once we were in the parks!

OH, OH, OH - you can go onto the Creative board and print out the characters you know you will see also. Chaoscent has some great pages you can print from her photo page.

Don't stress you'll be fine. I wouldn't change anyting if I were you. Even some of my ADRs worked out that way too and I'm there the week before. I'm not changing anything!

That week won't be that bad.:thumbsup2
