OFFICIAL April 2012 DISers! 2 months and counting!

My dad follows one of those crowd calendar sites. I'm going to have to tell him to look up the dates we went last April. I'm pretty sure he said they were 9s and/or 10s and we still were able to do everything we wanted. I don't get why some people get all worked up about it especially when April is a peak season. :confused3

I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding is that you should be able to apply the discount and get a refund (Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong). It's worth a call to WDW to see if you can get that refund. Looking at your ticker, it looks like you're going to the same resort on the exact same date as I am, so there shouldn't be any restrictions. Good luck!

Edited: I've been reading up on previous posts on this subject, and it looks like you get a refund after deducting a "penalty fee" for the price reduction - in 2010 it was $50.

That's hilarious that we are both staying at the Poly the exact same days! I am very excited, can't wait to go. To have a free trip for me and my daughter - it's a dream come true! But if I can save my parents some money - heck - why not!? I will give my Dad the heads up and see what we can do about the discount. For $50 it sounds like it will be worth it to do.

**EDIT**
Well, emailed the TA and just saved my parents nearly $800!! Not too shabby if I do say so myself! My parents are thrilled, said that was their spending money I just saved them. Feels good to contribute in some way, if only be over-planning and meeting you smarty-pants with all the info!

I had a bunch of duplicate posts - and for some reason, I can't find the delete option?!?!?!? SORRY EVERYONE!

That's great that you got them the discount! It's our first stay at the Poly and we're very very excited too!

Agree! I am not a school teacher, but I do teach Dance and we follow the school calendar. Plus my kids are a bit older now and we decided not to take them out of school once older DS went into middle school. Too much anxiety and stress is put on them for missing homework/test/ and other assignments. The kicker for us now is that while we planned on April vacation, with a few days tacked on to get great airfare....our school district announced last week that they are taking AWAY our April vacation!:scared1: Our airfare is already booked on Jetblue (August 16th I did that) and our room at AKL is booked with DVC points to stay in a studio. OMG! My kids are now really freaking out about missing. I will not cancel! The absences will be excused because we were already booked, but really this stinks. I wonder how many other areas will have their Spring vacation taken away due to that Halloween Snowstorm??

I live in SE MA and we hardly got any snow- maybe an inch. I can't believe you had that many snow days to have April vacation cancelled!! I wouldn't cancel either. It's good the the absences will be excused. My oldest DS would probably freak out too. They'll get over it :).
We're flying out on the 15th. After Christmas it'll fly by!

ddluvsdisney, YUP we had over 12 inches of snow and lost power for almost 7 days...no heat, no nothing! It was awful. School was canceled for the entire week following Halloween, so we had already gone over our 5 snow days! We also lost a day on the first day of school because of a hurricane:scared1: The winter is not even here yet and I am DONE with it! At least I have visions of Disney in April to keep me sane :lovestruc

Hi everyone! I have yet to read this board completely (I'll leave that for work hours! :rotfl:), but I am so excited! My DBF and I just booked our rooms this morning, we will be staying at AKL April 22 - April 28th...the dates may change a little on the front or back end depending on flights, but we are definitely in. We've already made ADRs for Le Cellier and Jiko!!

We just went for our very first trip in October, and while we were there experienced the most rain fall they had ever seen in one day (6 inches)!! So basically right then and there, we decided we had to come back since we felt some of our trip was derailed (we still did parks, but it was more like running from one place to the next). So we upgraded to APs, and now we're ready to come back!

So what can any of you April vets tell me about going in April??? I am so excited, I don't know what to book next. I'm thinking about CRT and/or Wishes Dessert party...

Congrats! Planning ADRs is one of the best parts of planning a Disney trip in my book :thumbsup2

Since you're thinking about Wishes Dessert Party, you should know that reservation for April is not open yet. In fact, they just opened up the January and February dates this past week. The pattern has been that ressies open up about two months ahead. I've been using this thread to help monitor it.

I hear ya about the SNOW. I've been saying for years that we should move south, but I've been a chicken about actually doing it. Now that I'm ready, my DS is in H.S. and doesn't wanna leave. So I guess I'm stuck here now until the other DS finishes H.S.
We were in Disney during hurricane Irene. We had to stay 2 more days cuz our flights were the day it hit. Even then we lost power for only about 8 hrs. back home.

As of last night, we are OFFICIALLY booked for April 16-21 at Wyndham Bonnet Creek! This is our second stay there and DH and DD(2 yo) second time at Disney! So excited already :goodvibes

Congrats! We stayed there once last yr. It's very nice.
April is gonna fly after the holidays!! We can't wait either. :)

Just really starting to draw up a rough schedule of what attractions we want to see at what parks on what days, and I'm starting to wonder if we will be able to arrange it so we can see all 4 parks and both water parks? Hopefully with our park hoppers and being non-thrill seekers as far as rides are concerned, we will be able to work it out!

How long are you staying? The way I have our park schedules drawn up so far, we get one day each for Epcot and DHS, two days for MK and AK, and a resort day, AKA "Polyday" :goodvibes We're going to try to introduce Soarin and Star Tours for our DD5 and see if she likes either of those - she's been sort of skittish when it comes to rides. Was hoping to have her try out BTMRR but that's going to be in refurb.

That's similar to the itinerary I'm working on. We arrive on the Sunday and will do an easy 1/2 day at DHS - nothing major, maybe watch the parade, the stunt show and then Fantasmic dinner package. Next 2 days at MK, then back to DHS for 1 day, AK for 2 days and then finish with 1 day at Epcot and stay for Illuminations. Our daughter will be almost 7 but we'll still plan long breaks in the afternoon every day for naps and pool time. Really starting to get excited!

At first it looked like we were going to be in the same parks on the exact same days - but then saw that you're coming in a week after we do. During our last trip we learned that for our kids, AK is definitely a two day park. In fact, they would be perfectly content spending half a day just in the Boneyard! We're going to do all three shows, safari at least twice, and probably spend a good amount of time in at Rafiki's Planet Watch and Camp Minnie/Mickey with the characters. Just read there is a good chance UP characters may start appearing at AK! I've been wanting to meet Dug and yell "Squirrel!" for him! :rotfl:

4 months until my first stay at the Boardwalk! OK, actually it's 4 months and 1 day but oh well. I can't wait!

AK is my DD's favourite park as well. Yes, we need to spend more time in Camp Minnie/Mickey. She surprised me last time in saying that her favourite thing was getting autographs and says it is the same for this time too.

SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

Dan

We also want to spend a good amount of time at AK and not be rushed. My daughter loves animals and Lion King & Nemo are 2 of her all-time favourite Disney movies (along with Cars). Although we don't want to be spending too much of our day waiting in lines to meet the characters we still want to allow some time for that but not at the expense of other rides/shows. My daughter is an adrenaline junkie and although right now says she doesn't want to go on Everest - she thinks she'll be scared of the yeti - I'm sure by the time we get there she'll have changed her mind. We're all very disappointed we'll miss Thunder Mountain but I guess there's always something that will be off-line anytime you go.

Dave: I'll be watching for your posts - since you'll be there the week before you can give us the "heads up". :)
