You sound just like me! So far for my trip I have a secret stash for my 9yo DD with:

- a custom designed (LOVE those wonderful DIS-igners!) journal/travel book
- a Toy Story Secret Vinylmation still in the unopened box (bought with Disney Movie Rewards)
- 3 Disney Pins (2 Disney World "reward" pins they are for - Good Behaviour, Tooth Brushing & also a Minnie-Mouse birthstone pin)
- A Cinderella Carriage & chain bought on ebay for the "pick-a-pearl" booth in Japan at Epcot
-5 t-shirts, again LOVE those DIS-igners!
- A disposable underwater camera
- A phone call from Cinderella wishing her goodnight the night before our trip!!! (free for Disney Movie Reward Members)

I plan on giving her little sprinkles of pixie dust throughout the course of our trip! princess:

Working mega OT at work, and must keep focused: this is for April, this is for April....

Did I think I would be adding our family to this post :cool1::cool1:
My husbands company is sending him to Orlando for a convention
& we get to tag along :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: We
just found out this morning & we are all SUPER excited. We are going
to stay an extra few days so that he can go to Blizzard Beach one day
& one of the parks (he's yet to decide) another day with us.
We are staying at POP April 14-21. I'm hoping it's not going to be to
crowded then ?? We usually go the first part of May & it's always pretty
slow so this will be a new experience for us all lol

I don't even know what is in my stash anymore, but you have given me some great ideas! I know there is a fan to attach to the stroller, b/c I originally thought we were going in June. A couple of refillable water bottles. Rapunzel nightgowns for the girls, and a couple of shirts. I still want to get a couple made. We aren't doing BBB, and I keep going back and forth about doing Harmony Barbershop. But just in case we don't do it, I bought some colorful hair extinsion things so I can give them their own fun hairdo!

Hi can you add me in April 21-April 29th at the CBR. We are not telling our kids till the morning we leave. I am sooo excited.

I'm also hoping to score some better airfare prices for my April trip. Airfare prices are ridiculous and have been for a couple of months now. Boo! :sad1:

I know they are ridiculous because of spring break/Easter - I should have booked a few months ago, but DH is always a "wait and see, they might go down" type - so frustrating!

There are advantages to driving, but it is such a short trip, I hate to waste time in the car!

WAH!!!!! Just checked out another one of my favorite park blogs and was sad to see that Test Track will be closed for the ENTIRE summer starting on APRIL 15TH!!!!!!!!!! WAHHHH!!!

This was one of those rides in our top 3 attractions to NOT miss! So this is so sad for me......

Here is a small excerpt from the article I read - "The lengthy refurbishment that almost never was, currently is. Officially, Disney will be closing Test Track for a major overhaul beginning in April 2012. The refurbishment continues through “Fall 2012.” Unofficially, the refurbishment dates are expected to be April 15th through the last week in September, with a whisper reopening date of September 21st. That means Test Track will be open over the busy weeks around Easter, but will be closed for the entire summer."

Even booking a few months ago wouldn't have helped. I've been looking since September and they've been high since then. I think I just need to resign myself to paying out the butt for my airfare. At least this is for my girls only trip, so I only have to buy a ticket for me and not my whole family!

I crunched some numbers and decided to upgrade from POR to AKL. I had a riverview room booked at POR with a pin code that I had received. The more that I thought about it, I felt like I should be making the most of that pin code (especially since we are only able to use it for two nights). So, today I called and changed our ressie to AKL pool view! We have never stayed deluxe before so this will be a treat! DD8 & DS5 are going to be so excited. I think I am going to wait and surprise them, though. I haven't even told DH, yet and the more that I think about it, I wonder if I should just surprise him, as well. We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary and he always says I am lousy about keeping surprises a secret... :rotfl:
Maybe I will just have to wait until we hop off the highway and head toward the resort to fill him in on the secret.:woohoo: I am so excited about this!

We will be arriving at AKL on a Friday afternoon, going to MK on Saturday, and then staying at AKL for the day on Sunday before heading over to Sheraton Vistana for the week. Any AKL experts have some pointers for what my family should see/do on Friday evining/night and Sunday?

TIA!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE AKL. In fact, it's the only resort we've stayed at for the past 5 years. I just cannot imagine going on our family disney trip and NOT staying at AKL.

The resort has soo much to offer! On the Arusha overlook at night they do a fire in the fire pit and a CM will tell stories. Also on the overlook at night you can check out night vision goggles to see the animals--very cool! And something that you cannot do anywhere else in the parks. Also, they have a ton of activities to do for the kids. They'll give you a sheet with all that when you check in.

Where are you going to eat? Jiko is one of my favorite restaurants on property but it is a signature, so it's expensive. If you are looking for a signature-like experience at much better prices, go next door to Kidani and eat at Sanaa. We also enjoy Boma (which is the buffet) but we prefer Boma for breakfast as opposed to dinner. And AKL's quick service is really good too. The flatbreads are yummy--I eat those all the time while there.

Hope this helps. Enjoy AKL! :goodvibes

If the dates are correct then we JUST make it since we'll be coming back on the 15th !! I can't imagine Epcot without Test Track !

What a bummer! Both Test Track & Big Thunder Mountain will be closed for the duration of our trip! Boo!! And we only miss it by four days!!

There had been rumors and reports that this was in the making and that it would begin in April. I had been hoping that this wouldn't happen for our trip. Wonder if this will lead to longer wait times at Soarin. So now we have BTMRR and TT both out of comission while we're there. Here's to hoping that The Great Goofini is up and running to make up for this.

CRAP! We're also arriving on the 22nd. So bummed to be missing both this and Thunder Mountain. My daughter, at only 6, is a total adrenaline junkie and was so looking forward to both of these.

Wow. Glad this will start after we're there. As others have said, it's disappointing that Thunder Mountain is going to be closed. It's always a must for us (after all, it was my first roller coaster). So no triple mountain whammy this trip. :sad2:
