We obviously don't know the details of what kind of meetings took place to get this perk, but are assuming that DVC management was able to convince the Disney Theme Parks management that this was a good business decision.

I'd just like to reiterate that it was.

For the last 5 years we had been purchasing AP's every other year, and banking/borrowing points such that we used 2-years worth of points approximately 65% one year where we had the AP's, and 35% the year we didn't. The years we had the AP's we went to the parks a lot. The years we didn't have the AP's are the years we stayed at DVC but didn't go to any Disney theme parks at all, instead doing SW, US/IoA parks, and sometimes even driving to Tampa for BG.

Now it will make more sense to just renew the AP's every year. So Disney will now get more money from us for passes (2-years worth of discounted passes vs. just getting 1 year non-discounted passes every other year) and we will be spending more time in the parks (which means more times in the restaurants and shops). With DVC it's not necessary to commando style park days, which means we take the time to actually dine instead of just a quick burger and fries. That of course means a $25 meal instead of a $10 meal. Discounted AP's means more park days (at Disney), which means more meals.

Yes, it was a sound financial decision. Thanks DVC managers.
