Official announcement about GG and LTT

I wonder if Disney will make the official announcement tommorow about the Garden Grill and LTT? The moderators keep treating this like a rumor, which it is, but we all know it is true!

I called Disney Dining today and the lady told me that she had just been told this morning that there will be no character dining at LTT as of 1/05/09. IOW- 1/04/09 is the last day.

Yeap - I just called to check on my December lunch ressies. First the CM said she didn't know anything about it, then asked if I could hold while she checked with her sup. She came back and said that Oct 5th would be the last day for lunch. I was able to make a dinner ressie for that same day. I hope the mods on the restaurant board let this out soon. If I hadn't read one of the closed thread I would never have known.

I love LTT.
I thought the Character Interaction was the absolute best! Although I've not been to CRT, I think LTT is the best restaurant in MK.


Are they refurbishing? Are they closing? Turning it into a buffet? Removing Characters? What????

I will say that the restrooms at LTT are just awful!

It's not a rumor....LTT will no longer have characters at dinner which means no characters at that location anymore starting 5 Jan. If you call dining they will tell you this is correct but will not offer the information unless asked.

Garden Grill stops serving lunch Oct 5th.

We are really sad to hear about the changes for LTT, it was our favorite character meal. With this change, I hope they will make the menu ala carte and lower the prices, since we go for the atmosphere and characters, certainly not the mediocre food.

Just as an FYI, the person who posted the alleged cut/paste from the Disney Dining system on the Restaurant Board may not have posted the correct information. The cut/paste listed the cutoff for GG lunch as "Sunday, 10/4/2008" and that there would be no lunches starting "Monday, 10/5/2008." 10/4 is a Saturday and 10/5 is a Sunday.

Intestesting we have a lunch ressie for Nov. I am on hold right now to check on my lunch ressie for Nov. 23rd at Garden Grill. Yep IT I ALL TRUE. She told me that my Nov. ressie is NO MORE for lunch anyway. Dinner starts at 4:30 and she said LTT will no longer have the character meal anymore starting Jan. 5th. So....no more rumors I guess.

I had lunch ressies for Dec. When I called the CM (after checking with her supervisor) told me that the information was true and I'd need to reschedule. I was able to get dinner for that same night. I took it because we like Garden Grill

It's surprising because that dinner was SO popular, especially on party nights. Why would they close it ?

GG on the other hand, we could have walked in for lunch several times including on Christmas Eve so I can see why they decided to do that.

But that's what was nice about GG for lunch was that you could walk in after a hot and busy morning, have a relaxing lunch and then be recharged for the rest of the day.

I guess not too many people even tried that if they've found that it's not fiscally prudent to serve lunch there.

About LTT...I'm curious what they are going to do once they end the character meal. I'm glad to have tried it and agree the character interaction was fab. Agree with the PP about the bathrooms...there are not enough bathrooms for the number of people who dine there for dinner, nor are the convenient by any means.

I wonder if they will stay family-style, go buffet or go to an a la carte menu like they have at lunch. I haven't tried the lunch because we usually aren't big lunch eaters at MK, but the menu looks so good and it's on my to do someday list.

Definitely will stay tuned to see what the scoop is!

That would be OK for the LTT since the change doesn't start until Jan. but for the GG they need to at least let those who already have ADR's know about the change. I know most of the character meals are booked for the week we are going in October so those that do not read any of the forums will probably be out of luck by the time they find out. IMO Disney should have notified those with ADRs as soon as they knew the change was going to happen.

Just as an FYI, I am the poster of that "alleged" cut & paste. The paste came right from my message of the day. Those things have typos all the time. A human inputs them. If you doubt the message authenticity please feel free to call disney dining to confirm. I was just trying to help my fellow Disers. I have nothing to gain from making up stories.

Also, now that the GG is only open at dinner..that character meal will be hard to get into now. Maybe they will open GG for breakfast??? That could work....a character breakfast meal in FW?? I am sure I am really dreaming now.
