In a similar vein, here's my wonderings:

If they do the same kind of theme nights like they did last year, where all the songs were by a particular artist (ie Manilow, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan), what artists would be good to pick? It would have to be someone that has enough well-known and popular songs that any of the remaining contestants could find a song to sing.

Any thoughts?

Why does SIMON keep pushing for CARRIE I thought he didnt like country...I find her kind of boring, good voice but no personality... and does anybody else think that PAULA needs to take a random drug test????

Speaking of Paula and a random drug test, I was reading E! online, the gossip column by Ted and he has a bit about Paula, says that AI insiders say that Paula needed help from the AI attendants (or whatever they are called) to walk one night. So sad!! I wonder what is going on with her???

I'd love to see a Carole King night. Not only could you do the entire Tapestry album, but she also wrote a lot of songs for different artists (The Locomotion, Up on the Roof, Some Kind of Wonderful, The Reason sung by Celine Dion). Carole King's had some huge hits.

Nevertheless, I don't think they're doing any singer-oriented theme nights this year.

Why do people care who likes who? I can never understand that about these threads and the message boards devoted to American Idol. Who cares? I like who I like, you like who you like.

It's not so much the fact that people don't always like my choice (God knows, I've experienced THAT for about 30 years!)...it's the "who in their RIGHT MIND could like this LOSER..." blah blah blah kind of thing that gets people angry.

You (the general "you") don't like someone's voice - fine. But don't insult the ones who do with the condescending remarks. You're no longer just insulting the singer - you're insulting the people who like that singer as well.

That said - Constantine still bugs me with the "camera watch" - I cracked up when Ryan pointed it out, too. He's got a nice voice, but I have to close my eyes and not watch the faces he makes at the camera to enjoy it.

Vonzell has a beautiful voice, and is a beautiful girl. I don't know what happened to her this week with the voting. She didn't deserve the bottom three.

Bo came on like gangbusters in the beginning, and I was sure he had it sewn up. He's been dropping a few stitches lately, though. He needs more performances like his first few.

Carrie - great voice for the country genre that is her strong suit. She is consistently good in her vocals, she just needs to put a little more into the performance, but she can learn that as she goes along. Country music is big business, and I think she will be a definite country star in no time at all.

Anwar flipflops back and forth between being one of my favorites and making me groan "what are you DOING??" I think he'll stick around until at least the top 4, maybe higher.

Anthony is another one that flipflops for me. He's cute, and has the background story, and the Clay thing going on. I don't see him sticking around past the next two weeks.

Scott is another performer I have to close my eyes and just LISTEN. He has a good voice, but he has that whole scary look thing going on. Unless he has an EXCELLENT performance, I see him gone next week, or the week after, just because of his look and his past, and not based on his voice.

I wish Fantasia would have stuck to songs like "Summertime". Last night was just painful to hear.

Well put cookie, I agree 99%. Would have agreed 100% , but I was ready for Anthony to go a couple weeks ago. He's cute and I love his history, but he does sound like a lounge singer to me.

I have to disagree with this statement. You are not just voting for their voice, you are voting for a package. Of course the voice is very important but IMO they do have to have "the package" too.

Now I have no opinion on the Scott "incident. If this had not been omitted to the producers before the show started I am sure that he would not be on the show today.

I was a little surprised with the bottom three, except for Scott who I thought would be voted out last night, because of this incident. I thought Anthony would be in the bottom three, even though I picked him as top 2 before the show start, I just don't feel his personality. I had no third pick for the bottom 3. I did not except Nikko or Vonzell to be bottom three.

How can you disagree on how I chose to vote? That's a new one! I do not vote on the whole package! I vote on the voice. That is what I think this show is about and that is what I do. Me, me, me. You can vote how you want and that is fine. If I had to vote on looks too then I never would have voted at all for Clay Aiken!

I totally agree, I vote on who I would want to actually buy a CD from, I have said it before and will again, I would buy Scott's CD.

Before this week's show, I posted this on another board. I still feel this way. I guess I was right about Nikko. I still think Carrie will win, but I'd like to see Bo win.

Anthony - Not good enough. I find his vocals weak and his accent too distracting. I think he had the cute nerdy thing going for him until he started trying to act more hip.

Anwar - One of my favorites in the beginning, but is consistently letting me down lately. Also, he is acting much more feminine than in the beginning and I think that is going to hurt him in the votes. It's sad to say, but I think that many teenage girls (who I think are doing most of the voting) are not going to vote for him once they figure out he's gay.

Bo - My favorite, but I don't think he will win either. It seems like he doesn't want to win. He did really great at first, but is slipping now. Maybe he doesn't want to be tied to their contract and only signed up to get national recognition?

Carrie - I think she is fantastic, but a bit afraid. She will definitely get a country music contract even if she doesn't win this contest - but I think she will.

Constantine - Annoying and irritating with no real talent. If I see him do one more karate kick, I'll die!

Nadia - Awesome talent. Could take it all the way if she would make better song choices. Also needs to show some variety and quit trying to be so hard.

Nikko - I like him, but don't think he will go all the way. His style is riminecent of New Edition or Boyz II Men. He might be too boy band to make it.

Scott - I can't stand him. His vocals arent' that great and his facial expressions look like he's in pain. I'm not sure he even has eyes. Can't wait for him to go.

Vonzell - I didn't like her at first, but she has wowed me the last couple of weeks. If she continues on this track, she could make top two.

Also, I don't remember ever seeing Constantine do a karate kick, im on the look out for that now! I do hate it when he does his "call me" thing with his hand...you know the girls are saying "he's talking to me!!!"

Watch him from now on. He likes to kick one leg high in the air. The last time he did it was during the "Everything is Beautiful" performance. A karate kick during that song was just bizarre.

As for Scott, when he's not wearing his glasses he squints and it makes him look like someone is stepping on his foot.

I really like Bo's laid back style but I just don't think he wants it anymore.

Hi, everybody!

I'm not sure how many of you get the TV Guide Channel, but they have a 1/2 hour program every Thursday at 8 pm EST, called "Idol Chat". It's hosted by Kimberley Caldwell and another woman (I can't remember her name). They talk about each week's AI performances, song choices, and results, and make predictions for the following week. For those of you who get this channel, you might want to check it out.

I'm anxious to see what theme the producers come up with for next week. I like the idea of one-hit wonders and disco. Classic rock would also be great; Bo and Constantine would both do very well with that one! I think it might also be a good idea to forget theming for a week and just let the contestants pick their own genre, like they did during the initial auditions.

Whatever they choose, I hope it gives the contestants a chance to let their individual personalities shine through, instead of constantly trying to remake themselves to fit the new mold. IMHO, I think that's why so many of them did so much better in the auditions than they have in the past few weeks.

The sad thing is that he was my favorite at the beginning. I didn't find him attractive because of his long hair, but I did really enjoy his singing. He has just become too oogie lately.

Might the theme have something to do with "baby" or "the year you were born"?

It is all pure speculation right now.
