Official 2024 Universal Studios HHN 33 Thread

You made pretty good time for an arrival day & a Saturday night.
Doing one of the houses that opens at 515 pm helps. You can knock a couple of the soundstage houses out and move over to tents ones. I noticed that when I was at Goblins/Monsters the soundstages had high wait times with people who were waiting outside pouring in to them while tent were pretty low waits at that time.

I've noticed this last few years. It is quite annoying when there's a group and it blocks the entrance so a line starts to form because people think it's jsut backed up as the tm is checking.

Sometimes the AAP return time person is also the initial EP checker. I have had to wait until they finished before trying to head in.

Last night wasn’t very busy. I have noticed that Saturdays in general since I have been going are much better than Fridays or Sundays. I think it’s due to passes and price hike in single night tickets for Saturdays.

Oh I know, doesn't make it any less annoying lol. But it just creates a backlog that isn't necessary. At the very least, just have the people stand off to the side while the TM is writing down the times.

Completely agree. People waiting for the AAP could also just move to the side; however, so many people don’t understand how it works or what’s happening or are just not considerate or cognizant of other people. It’s like that everywhere, especially anytime there’s a special line🙁

It looks like there are designated places for AAP tonight with signs.

I think I know what you're talking about (that walkway near transformers and illumination meet and greet?). If so I think that's just to get the AAP pass not for return times, but could be wrong

Sunday night there was a large group inside the queue split at Ghostbusters arguing w the team member who checks the express pass. Apparently their DAS pass wasn’t signed. A person who had express flashed their ticket to get pass , but team member stopped the rest of the express pass from going through. Eventually we were let in the line. I don’t really understand the need to check for express when you get in the line since they are going to scan the ticket later in the line.

They don’t usually check the return times for AAP at the scan further up in line, they just scan the pass. So its on the person at the head of the line to make sure it is valid.

If anyone here is a fan of RSVLTS shirts, they dropped trick or treat shirts this afternoon

Yeah - part of the issue is - and I heard folks bragging about it - they have figured out some sort of hack - what that is I don't know - sounded like they had multiple people with it in their group so they could sign up for multiples.

There are people that 100% need this that don't have it - which is also somewhat annoying TBH.

Anyway - that is a different topic - and has always been an issue. The Disney solution does not seem to be a good one either.

(BTW - I've been on the pother side of this with my parents so I totally get the need for it and have no issue with it - its the enforcement problem and the problem that some people are just jerks and take advantage of it)

They Day after I leave - just typical. Will need to check the store - Im not particularly a fan of that brand but I am a fan of Trick R' Treat. May have been one of the last really good scare zones.

yeah that is just for the signup
Except ghoul juice 😉.. That one is king
So I tried it this year and a big thumbs down - absolutely no Alcohol at all.

I also tried the premium cocktail and it was pretty bad as well - I heard a guy behind me saying it was a mocktail there was so little alcohol in it. he was not a happy camper.

In future Ill stick to the draft beer - at least they cant water it down.

The last good drink at HHN was Saturn - HHN 29 I think.

Yeah - this was really annoying - I went for 10 nights - for the most part they don't even look at it - its just a requirement of their job.
That said - I print mine out and fold it up so I can put it in a lanyard since they don't give us real tickets anymore. One guy wanted me to take it out so he could see the entire thing. I just brought it up on my phone and asked him why he was the only one doing that - he said - that is what they told him to do - and this is just to enter the line.

I had another that did not see the word express - so same thing - so if you print it out make sure they can see that it is express - I refolded mine and that worked fine for the handful of folks that actually looked at it.

So just to touch on this - yeah you can knock out a couple of houses - but they tend to be very understaffed - especially the ones in the back. To the point it was annoying. There were scenes in SS2 where there were no SAs at all sone nights.

So keep that in mind and if you have express I would not waste it early - a lot of people do - if the wait if 5 minutes I don't see why you would use your express unless you are 100% sure you wont be back.

Insidious had very few bad walkthroughs - much to do with the design of it and the staffing. That said it can be an hour wait without express when it opens at 5:15 - people start lining up very early - but they are also waiting over an hour just to get in the line.

So personally I don't see a ton of value in stay and scream anymore. Many of the SAs done even start till later (you overhear them talking in line) and some show up late.

Wednesdays and Sundays seem to be the worst as I don't think they bring everyone in.

In general I had much better walkthrough later in the evening.

On a different topic - the Horror and Makeup show - not sure what is going on there - seems like they were doing a lot of testing of changes last week - I do the show at least once a day and all of a sudden last Friday they cut the show short - so no Eddie. I did it a couple of times over the weekend and more than once they cut out Eddie and the kid stuff. Also mixed in some new stuff.
Anyway - lots of folks looking at each other saying what happened - lots of confusion. Considering it was pretty full theater not sure why they would cut it then.
Other than that the show is good and they do a great job - they are very believable although they have done the same jokes 100s of times - just hope they don't cut out Eddie and that stuff.

Past several years had a decent pumpkin sort of beer back by nightmare fuel (or whatever new name is now)
sounded like they had multiple people with it in their group so they could sign up for multiples.
That’s odd, procedure is supposed to be that once deemed eligible by ICCESS, then there is an online interview by the U DAS team. Once that is sorted out as to the type of accommodation (if any) ineeded, the individual & all those guests who will with them needs to appear @ GS with their tix scanned & linked to that DAS bar code.

Interesting to hear that some, already being granted an accommodation, are then trying to double-dip? That’s exactly the sort of thing that would make most able bodied people irritated.

If indeed true, sounds like U needs to invest in a better system to keep track of this

last year I did ask GS to print out hard copies of all online tix. They balked a bit, did do it in the end; saying I wouldn’t be able to then use the printed sheet if we lost the tix (doubtful imo). I always take pics of any park tix jik anyway
I don't see why you would use your express unless you are 100% sure you wont be back.
Absolutely

That is very interesting. Perhaps one of the actors portraying Eddie was filing in during HHN or off work due to illness or vacation.

Yeah - that is what I thought as well - that's why I found it odd and mentioned it - but I overheard similar things more than once.
As a solo traveler waiting in line I overhear a lot of conversations and see some pretty odd stuff to say the least.
Surprising the number of team members in line discussing issues for example.

Was thinking the same thing - but for whatever reason I went to the show three times on Friday - and Eddie was only there once.
Twice on Saturday and no Eddie. I walk around the parks a lot during the day to kill time so that show is a nice break in the AC.
Like I said they were also trying some new bits (I wont spoil it) I only saw that once - I don't think it worked well - but it was funny.

Haha yes, almost as tho they forget we have ears. To their credit, it has to be a bit mind-numbingly boring to be stationed in a line, night after night.

Well they were in line behind me waiting for the houses - so very long discussions about problems. For example they had a really disgusting issue with the tire in the swamp scene. I wont go deep into it, but it started because of the trash smell as you walk to the two tent houses. That was pleasant to her after dealing with the stagnated water in the tire. She went into great detail about how bad it was and how they fixed it so it wont happen again.

This happened quite a bit - people complaining about managers, staffing etc.. Not going to get into any of that stuff, but they should remember guests are all around them.

Different event, but the mardi gras signature "birthday" drink was actually pretty darn strong! And good. I was shocked. (circa 2018, I think)

I’m in a number of FB groups, and not heard much chatter about standby lines. What is the general feeling - better or worse than last year? We have APs to get into stay and scream, but trying to keep my expectations realistic for this weekend.

Some of the stand alone bars will do whatever you want. I got Tito’s, Fanta pineapple, club soda, and lime juice as a blinkie cup refill behind Lombard’s. It was strong. Also, the Raining Blood from the Quiet Place kiosk is strong, basically bourbon and cherry heering.
