Some thoughts about HHN from someone who attended for the first time. I was there Saturday, 8/31 and Sunday 9/1. I'd have preferred not to be there opening weekend/labor day weekend, but this was the only 3-day weekend I have while the event is running.
First, I'd highly recommend having some way to access Express Lines. The standby lines were massive and unlike anything I've ever seen before. Luckily I have an AAP, as there is no way I'd have been able to do any of the houses without it. The express lines moved pretty quickly and none of the waits were difficult with express line access.
The scare zones were interesting. Duality of fear was kind of a dud and I couldn't even really tell where the scare zone was, but the others were fun, especially after it got dark! I really liked Demon Queens and Torture Faire - I walked through both of these multiple times and they were fun to just hang out in.
The food was hit or miss. It took awhile to figure out where all of the booths were, as they were scattered throughout the park and not always right next to the house they were connected to. I wish I had more nights there so I could have tried more of the food. I got to experiences 3 or 4 things each night. My favorite was the twisted tator, and least favorite was the red velvet cake pop, which I ended up throwing away after two bites.
The event is LOUD. It starts off quieter at the beginning and slowly ramps up as it gets dark. I get sensory overload and was able to manage for a couple of hours with ear plugs/headphones/hat combo, but had to leave each night by around 9:30/10:00 pm. If you have difficulty with loud music, don't go anywhere near the MIB/World Expo area at night - the Nightmare Fuel-Nocturnal Circus show is extremely loud. I had the misfortune of exiting the Bloodlines/Goblins tents while the show was going on, and I basically ran 3/4 of the way across the park before it was finally quiet enough for me to slow down :/ That entire end of the park is pretty much impossible for someone with noise sensitivity to be in while the show is ongoing.
I was able to do everything I wanted in the 2 nights, even with leaving around 9:30ish. I did not do stay and scream. I think it helped that I went in with realistic expectations, and knew ahead of time what my must-dos were and what I was willing to skip. I did 6 unique houses, and then repeated 2 of them. My favorite was Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines, followed by Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. All of the houses had interesting theming and were fun to go through. I also very much enjoyed seeing the death eaters in Diagon Alley, and I got chosen to duel!
I can't believe I didn't even know HHN existed until a few months ago. It is an amazing event and most definitely worth a trip to Orlando to experience!
