Agreed! And I'm glad opening night is sold out because it means we will immediately know what "limited" means since I'm sure people will be posting videos and reviews. We already bought our tickets, but I like to be able to set realistic expectations on the day ofI'm glad to see many of the dates selling out--not because I don't want people to be able to get tickets (I hope all DIS-ers get the tickets they want!)--but because I think it's the clearest sign we have that they really are limiting the number of people attending, like any true After Hours event. Looking forward to it!
That’s a really good point about opening night being sold out and being able to immediately see what a sold out night will be like!Agreed! From watching livesttreamers, opening night at any Disney park event has shown to be lower occupancy than the nights that follow. Can't base anything off what we see that first night. That’s a really good point about opening night being sold out and being able to immediately see what a sold out night will be like!
Are opening nights normally sold out for events? From watching livesttreamers, opening night at any Disney park event has shown to be lower occupancy than the nights that follow. Can't base anything off what we see that first night.
Always. Are opening nights normally sold out for events?
Always.
Not really, it's just a different view point since a chunk of the people there are vloggers/media people who don't go on rides and are only there to report on the event. So they'll just walk around, eat some food, look at what there is to do, sometimes not even stay for the entire event (which probably won't happen this time since it's only 3 hours). However, that normally doesn't happen at AH events, and wasn't the case for VAH. I remember the first VAH looking pretty crowded and being scared because I already had my tickets and couldn't back out. From watching livesttreamers, opening night at any Disney park event has shown to be lower occupancy than the nights that follow. We can only hope. I'm not attending any of these events but I want those who are to get the value out of them. Disney's number crunchers are sure to maximize profits after such a slog year. I have a friend who is a number cruncher, and she won't spill the beans, but she assures me the numbers are set across all the events for this. They don't have low numbers for some and high numbers for others, so the first night won't be half the number of people and sold out and then another sold out night will be jam packed. She said it wouldn't be sold out if it weren't for the media people and vloggers, if it were regular people buying tickets it would be like the other August dates. She saw me post on Instagram that I had bought a ticket so we had a conversation the other day about it, this is all bringing in more money even if they only let in 1/16 park capacity, that's why the event starts around what they are calling "normal park close". They are having a full park day with paying guests AND people shelling out even more money for a shorter time period after the fact, it's just money on top of money, they don't even need to cram people in. Now, she doesn't know what those numbers are, she just runs statistics and junk and turns it in (I don't do math, so what she says about her job goes right over my head, I'm sure it's fascinating), someone else takes that and makes decisions on it, but she really doesn't think this will be an unenjoyable experience. If they mess this up people will be weary in the future of paying for anything like this, they'll remember that Disney promised one thing, charged out the rear for it, and gave something completely different and will be slow to rush out and do that again. It's that way for me anyway, they have to prove themselves or this will be my last event for a good long while. We can only hope. It was not presented as an option for me either. Luckily I did get the email confirmation within seconds. I would have requested tickets mailed via UPS versus waiting in any will call line. As for will call, many are being told "yes go to will call" while others are told "no, linking in MDE is fine." I figure at this point I'll see what people report in August whether they actually *need* to wait in a line or if the MDE link worked. The chat CM also said I had to choose to have my tickets mailed? This was never presented as an option. For those of you that received your tickets, did you specify that you wanted your tickets mailed to you?
I am so confused-I purchased tickets on 6/8 and have not received them. I also did not receive a confirmation email. I do see they were charged to my credit card and was able to link to MDE. I really don't want to wait an hour on the phone to call Disney so I used the chat feature and was told I need to pick up at will call? The cast member I purchased from never mentioned this? I think Will Call was the default option. My castmember started to tell me to pick them up and I asked if they could be mailed. She had to change the option on her end. I got them in the mail about a week after I purchased.I am so confused-I purchased tickets on 6/8 and have not received them. I also did not receive a confirmation email. Yes-I have no desire to start our vacation in a will call line. LOLIt was not presented as an option for me either. Luckily I did get the email confirmation within seconds.
