Official 2017 Star Wars - Light Side Half Marathon Weekend (Jan 12th - 15th, 2017)

Assuming World of Color is running during race weekend, I would be shocked if it's not a variant on pre 60th anniversary show.

I'll find out on January 12th! We have one of the dining packages for that day.

They don't advertise that they do that but they do have it. Go to Runner Relations if you miss pick up the morning of the race. Make sure you get there early though. You will still have to get to the Expo to pick up your shirt and stuff.

I hope they haven't changed this! My nieces boyfriend has a flight that gets him in too late to do the 10k packet pickup on Friday. He'll be trying to get it in the morning on Saturday. Or is there anything else that can be done? I don't think so and I know they had same day pickup at the Darkside in April although I think that was for a fee.

Morning-of packet pick-up is the only option, I think. The pick-up for a fee thing hasn't been offered since Darkside.

Anyone else out of shape cuz they can't go our to run because of the rain?

I'm in NorCal and it's been raining for the last couple of days and week. On top of that.....it's projected to rain in my area for all of next week :(

Gonna try to go out and run today and tomorrow while it's not raining.

What's worse is that I'm checking the weather and there's a 40% chance of rain in the Anaheim area on Sunday morning.

NorCal here as well. Will run tomorrow morning as it's projected to be dry tomorrow. I only have one pair of running shoes so I don't want to get them wet before the race. I may not run after tomorrow if it's raining all next week. I think I'll be fine for my 10K.

Yeah, I'm trying not to obsess over next Saturday's forecast just yet. If rain is still in the forecast, I'll likely run out and purchase some ponchos.

Count me in as a Bay Area transplant (née LA)! Agree with @94bruin and would seriously consider moving your long run to Friday as it looks like it will rain every day until Light Side over here and read that the storm is supposed to be pretty strong too. Which makes me think the flight from SFO will be delayed. Ugh. If you can't get on a treadmill next week, I'd recommend running if it's just drizzling, it's pretty fun. Depending on your training, next week might be your taper week so that's good! Didn't know about the rain in Anaheim ... hmmmm. Can't wait to hit those LA freeways in the rain ... :crazy2:

The forecast I've seen from weather.com shows no rain for the Saturday and Sunday of race weekend. But it's so far out that I'm not too excited about it.

I saw your reply on the running thread about the 10k photo ops being different (better?) than the half - care to elaborate? Was planning on running through the 10k, but now that I'm not allowed to go as fast as I'd like, maybe I'll stop for some pictures!

Norcal here as well! Elk Grove to be exact. Yea quite honestly the rain sucks. I know we need it but my hopes of getting DD out for one last 4 mile run this weekend have now vanished. I'll do my miles on the treadmill so I'll be ok though. We drive down on Thursday and I'm actually a little worried about the drive with all this rain. I hope it doesn't create any issues.

I'd like to know this as well.

Any strategies for photo ops? If need be, we'll just take selfies from afar. But is there a way to tell if we can fit in a long line? I'm guessing we'll be in either corral B or C based on what I've read from past reports.

I'm only looking for characters that I can't see in the parks. Is Boba Fett in the parks? Would love a picture with BB8 since it's the BB8 race. I understand that it was a really long line last year - probably due to the fact that Force Awakens was just released? Would like R2D2 & C3PO, but willing to pass if too long. We already have Chewie and Darth. Wonder if the droid from Rogue One will be there. Not sure if I'd stop for it. It/He doesn't have the cuteness factor of BB8.

BB8 would probably still have a really long line this year. It was about a 30 min + wait last year for all the races, unless you were in Corral A and fast. I told my husband he should have stopped since he said there were only 2 people in line when he passed!

Boba Fett has changed his location each year. Darth Vader has been in Tomorrowland usually. Lots of storm troopers!

I usually do selfies or just take a photo of them with a random!

Also in NorCal (Roseville) and plan to get a run in tomorrow while I have the chance. This weekend and next week look like a mess!

I signed up for the 10K mid December (kind of a last minute decision). Looking forward to next weekend!

Hubs and I will have to do packet pickup on Friday during our work lunch hour. Will Downtown Disney be open by then and be accessible? If not, any recommendations on where to park that won't cost $18? :)

Is downtown Disney closed? Does it still have 3 hours free parking? When I used to have Socal select annual passes, I'd go there for 3 hours exact on my days off. Ah, memories.

But yes, I'd love recs on where to park for bib pickup on Friday too!

With all this rain talk, I decided to knock out 8 miles today since I can't run outside tomorrow. Went faster than I wanted, but felt good to stretch my legs a little. :)
