******Official 2017 Free Dining Plan Watch, Wait, and Dream

With the assistance of KimBean, finally about to figure out some actual numbers, but I feel I'm missing something.
Travelling with 2 adults and a child - staying at CBR (standard room 202/nt)- cost of stay, tix (5 day) , PH and upgrade to DDP seems to be $3068 (based on FD being QSDP)
However, if a RO is offered of even 15% and I get the CDN ticket offer (even with PH its $905), pay full price for DDP it seems to be $2916.
Am I missing something, or is this truly one of those situations where the upgrades to get "free dining" costs more than paying for dining?
that sounds like you have it figured right to me. What was a $160 free benefit a day when mods had DDP free, becomes only around a $110 a day for only getting the QS plan free for your three people. Taking a room discount, Canadian ticket discount, you look to be getting better deal. IF you had a room of Five, it might tip the other way.

this is us exactly too. Sounds like there are a lot of people having this problem.

Yep. When I tried to modify everything looked normal and I was able to enter changes, but then once I clicked "check out" it wouldn't allow me to.

When I called it took them a while but they fixed it. Currently I have the button back, however I haven't tested to see if I can get through check out because they already changed my dates for me. Crossing my fingers for the 24th, but prepared for it to not work again.

I think if you check I need during the promo it will count for your whole stay! Can anybody confirm this?
If you check on on the last day of the promo, yes, it will apply to your whole stay. If you check in early before a promo date begins, it will not apply. You would have to make RO ressie in first part and then a second promo ressie on first day of promo

Last year the FD thread was closed. I haven't seen one yet (please let me know if there is one), but I thought about starting a thread later this week for those who want to continue planning their trips together once FD drops. Does that sound ok? We won't have to abandon this thread (unless it gets closed), but can continue to help others look for deals and plan our trips as well. :)
Yes, that would be great! Make sure to let us know what it's called, maybe more than once in case anyone accidentally passes it by...not that us Disney Troubadours would miss a single thing...LOL!

Traditionally as this is our second trip to Disney with last in 2014, if they are going to pre-release FD for Disney Visa cardholders how soon before public date does that occur and how is a cardholder notified released ?
I think they would have done it by now - I've been hoping too!

I don't think this site has to close at all. I think there is no limit like there was last year. Last year people stayed on this site for months afterward and when we got close to an end we started a support group, but I dont think that will be neeeded.
Well then, lets just wait and see, no sense starting a new thread if we can just keep this one. The mod can help us with this info if need be.

Anyone with experience on modifying a reservation to take advantage of the Disney Visa promotion for FD? Could you modify online, if so how? Or did you have to call? Thank you!

To anyone having problems with the modify button not working (loading the same page or not being able to check out) try another browser. I had the same problem using Chrome but switching to either Firefox or Opera I had no problem.

In past I have seen Thursday Visa drop with Monday general drop, or Monday Visa drop and Thursday general drop.
That said, last year Visa offer was just a few more August dates included

If I had Visa, I would politely call tomorrow morning and ask (or have ONE designated amongst our thread) to report back on these pages. I don't think it will happen, but worth checking.
I actually emailed them a few weeks ago about this and they gave me a general "they don't know for sure but keep watching for special offers that usually come out sometime in the spring".

Yup. I believe that the person you emailed didn't know. I would actually call Disney tomorrow morning. In the fiasco with DV of 2015, I think they changed things a bit.

Really, what happened?? I've not heard about that.

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE. That is wrong on so many levels. its six of one, half a dozen of another. Either get paid for test scores, or get paid for student attendance. My mom worked for the school district when I was a kid and we never had to worry about this, we just had to worry about things passing at the polls and when they didn't pass, the schools withheld things like bus service and lunches and after school sports. Make the parents pick up the slack. Things sure got done and passed the next year.
Wow...unbelievable!

A couple people slipped through a day early with the promo code applied, reported back here, others called them liars, nastiness ensued. Folks bombarded Chase with calls, talked to supervisors, were demanding, etc.

I noticed this happened to me when one of my family also has an MDE account. When I remove her "link" to the travel party, it allowed me to check out.

I don't know if Disney notifies her of changes I made and have her approve it? I don't know. Doesn't make sense.
