I'll wake up around 3-5 daily and check, then again about 7-8, then once in a while in the afternoons, I'll do this daily until FD drops!!!

The phase out of FD isn't going to negate the 180 day dining reservations. We are going the last week of August before school starts. There are still Akershus and Tusker House available before 9 AM and CRT breakfast (9:40). We've never had problems getting reservations when we go during free dining.

The 180 day is much more of an issue for the "regular" and high season Times, not for times when there is free dining.

The 180 days is open to anyone on site or off site. The advantage being on site is you can book the dining for your whole trip 180 days out from hour check in date ie Day 1. Which means you can book dining for Day 10 of your trip 190 days earlier.

But if you're not on site, you can still book 180 days out, you just have to do each day individually which is more time consuming. The only ones which may be harder to get with this method is CRT and BOG. But even those aren't impossible if you're flexible on days and times and you keep checking availability regularly.

In previous years, I've always been able to upgrade from QS to TS when booking FD online.

Do you know if there is a time limit on when you upgrade your dining plan? If I get the free QS with my moderate reservation, can I choose to upgrade it when I check in? Or will they limit upgrades for free dining and I'll be told "Sorry, there's no more upgrades available for your room category" or something like that?

I'm getting the gift cards at CBR which we recieve on Check In. I'm wondering if at Check In I can upgrade the plan and use the gift cards for this?

Last year for a December trip I was able to add on and upgrade my daughter a month prior. (it was the room reservation with the FD code on it-so the difference in price covered the tickets) As for the gift card deal at CBR-not sure if you can get both at the same time.

You can always book an entirely new reservation yourself online the morning FD drops and transfer it to your TA (if you choose) then have your TA cancel your existing reservation.

You have to purchase the dining plan in advance (cannot be done once at the resort) and I do not believe you can upgrade it onsite either. I'm not sure what the cutoff is to purchase it as part of your package but for DVC member reservations it is 48 or 72 hrs prior to check in (I think non DVC is much further in advance).

You cannot upgrade your dining at check in. You must do so at least a few days before arrival. I think maybe 48-72 hours in advance of check in day. But even if you wait a bit after FD drops, you will always be allowed to upgrade your dining if done on time. It has nothing to do with your room category.

That's what I'm going to do myself. I'm working with a TA also and know she won't be like us up at 4am- plus all her other clients she'll need to book and modify for.
