How bad is the parking situation at the finish? Trying to decide between Hubby driving to meet us a the Finish line or taking the Disney transport.

I think your Hubby will have to take Disney transportation to the finish line ...

From the event guide:
Please note that there will be no parking at ESPN Wide World of Sports for the Star Wars™ 10K and the Star Wars ™ Half Marathon – The Dark Side. Parking will be available at Epcot ® and bus transportation will be provided from Epcot ® to ESPN Wide World of Sports.

From the transportation information on the event website:

THERE WILL BE NO PARKING AT ESPN WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS COMPLEX FOR THE 10K AND HALF MARATHON. Spectators must utilize bus transportation from Epcot to ESPN Wide World of Sports to access viewing locations at the finish line. At 5:00 a.m., spectators can utilize bus transportation from Host Resorts to ESPN Wide World of Sports to access viewing locations at the finish line.

Bummer. I was hoping to avoid the post-race bus nightmare. Thanks for the info!

I read the event guide and I'm still confused about a couple of things. I've participated in many Disney races before but this is my first one that is point to point.

Will the monorail be running in the morning for the 5K and 10K? At other WDW races I've attended they've had the monorail running for all races but the omission seems deliberate. No mention that it's not running either.

Hopefully someone else will chime in, but I am pretty sure that I read that for Princess this year the monorail only ran for the half.

Hey Everyone!

I'm new to this board, but not new to runDisney. That being said, I spend most of my Disney experiences in DL (where we can usually just walk to our hotel to the start and walk back from the finish). It's been a few years since I have raced in DW. And I'm getting nervous about my lunch reservations. I'm worried that just after noon is too soon for us to have time to go from the finish line to our reservations (with ideally a stop at our hotel). I don't know how long transportation takes over there to get about the parks/hotels. And I also don't know how long it takes to get all the runners across the start line.

Any information on transportation or start time waits (for later corrals, I want to go with the "worst scenario" start)? Any input/advice is welcome.

I can't believe we are THIS close!!!

With the half, I started in the second to last corral at princess, we finished just under 3.5 hours, and we were back at our hotel room by around 10-ish?

Another way to take care of it would be to have more corrals and keep the lag times the same. I agree that they need to change something based on the early boardwalk portion.

Hard to imagine having more than the A -> P corrals they have had for other half marathons, am planning either way on patience through that section.

There were significant bottlenecks as well at Star Wars Light Side - at the Half - at Mile 1 - it took me almost 19 minutes to get to Mile 2 - at the 10K, it happened as well.

I just took it as it was - forced me to save some more energy for later in the race. It sucked that I was forced to a really slow walk but it is what it is. We'll just have to all deal with it.

Corral A...
I feel like I have got a lot slower since my POT run, but it was the only one I had at the time. Hopefully I will still be able to get through the potential bottlenecks and into the queues for any photo ops quick enough though

E for me too. For Princess I was in F for the half and B for the 10K. I used the same POT for both events.

I am doing the half, but my boyfriend is doing the challenge. I found his bib number - is he going to be in the same corral for both races? I know there are less corrals for the 10k than the half so I was a bit confused.

Corral D for me and Corral C for my wife. Hopefully we'll be ahead of some of the masses where the bottlenecks are sure to occur.

I don't know, with a 1,000 people each in A, B, and C and 1500 in D, it doesn't look good for avoiding the masses. We just missed the cut-off for A and aren't expecting good things coming out of B, especially any rare photo ops. The BW area may be a challenge also. We'll see. Happy to be going either way.
