Official 2016 Star Wars Half Marthon - The Dark Side Weekend

No one laugh at me for having high hopes, but maybe they learned from the Light Side race and they'll change things up for the Dark Side to help ease those waits during the race?

How could they do that, though? There's demand, a line will form... what else can they realistically do?

Except for multiple meets AFTER the race, I don't see what else they can do.

That's really what I was thinking, was doing meets after the race. There's the space at WWoS that they could do it.
I'd never wait for any character for 45 minutes during a race. But after? Sure.
Don't put high profile, high demand characters like BB-8 in the middle of the race, but as part of a cool down.

I'd love a party afterwards. I could still see them keeping some high demand characters on the course, though. Though I won't wait in long lines during a race, it's like a bonus for those willing/able to, and I don't begrudge them that.

I suppose they could add something at any time, but it's feeling kind of late for them to announce an after party.

They had one in DHS after ToT in 2013 and that was a lot of fun!

I totally agree with you on this. I'd love to at least have a party on the schedule, but so far, nothing. :\

I know it does feel too late I wish that they'd do at least a breakfast or pre-race taste type thing. I get that they don't want to do a real "after party" like TOT since its a daytime race. But c'mon! Take my money!

Exactly! And given where the race ends, seems like they could do SOMETHING... Just a buffet and meet n greets even...

I thought they would at least have some runners party at DHS on day Friday night to coincide with the Star Wars fireworks, even if it was some limited thing with the park still open for everyone. They could offer some kind of limited party ticket only to runners that would include admission after 4pm. My money is waiting to be taken.

Marathon weekend has done this for at least the last 5 years. The Princess this month will be my first non-Marathon-Weekend event at Disney World, and it's offered there. I was curious to see if spots were still available for the Star Wars Half, and was surprised to see that it's apparently non-existent.

Or, MAYBE it was sabotaged by Rebels!!!! Our kind and benevolent Emperor strives to maintain peace and order... and those horrible Rebels have to ruin it for everyone.

I really wish I had something incredibly witty to say as a comeback for this....but it's too perfect. Anything I would say would just ruin this moment. I seriously laughed out loud at my desk.

I keep checking the Run Disney site to see if they've added race retreat or breakfast. Really surprised there is nothing. Still hoping they will add something.

January total - 41.6 miles
Avg pace 14'14"
I have Princess Half in a few weeks, so January really should have been more miles. I did 1.9 miles this Saturday & 10.1 miles on Sunday. First back to back with a long run, and my legs were definitely tired sooner (and longer after) than my previous long run of 9.6 miles. Dark Side will be my first challenge.

Hello all, looking forward to this race as it will be our first in Florida. Will be joining in more discussion from here on out.
This will be part of tapering for the Pittsburgh Marathon two weeks later. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

My DH neglected to submit a time for corral placement, while I busted my tail to get a sub 2 hr half time in the hopes of getting us in a good corral. Now I am afraid that he is going to end up in a corral far, far away...and I'll be with him since we planned to do this thing together. He is a decent runner, usually averages under 9 min/mile. Are we just going to have to take what we get or do you guys have any ideas? He does have a PoT, just forgot to send it in

I don't think any exceptions are made wrt submitting PoT (used to be able to do at the expo - no more). I don't know of any other option than for you to start in his corral if you want to run the whole race together.

Unfortunately, since he did not submit a time, he will be starting in the last corral. They have gotten really strict on this and have not made any exceptions that I have heard of (not for forgetting anyway).

We made this same mistake and realized it about 2 days late. I contacted them and they said no. Sounds like you'll be joining us in the back unfortunately.
