Official 2016 Princess Half Marathon Thread

Planning on 7 miles tomorrow morning... behind my knee has been bothering me since my 8 miler last weekend, so hopefully I can run on it and not make it worse!

Planning on 9 miles tomorrow. Assuming the weather holds out that it! Others it is the old DReADmill

Anyone have any info on the medals?? Last year they were released on December 8th ( or at least that was when the date showed online.). I have checking every day hoping for a nice surprise but no luck so far!!

I got in a longer run during the week because I was off. I'm only doing 6 miles this weekend. I think I may actually do it but running 1.5mi to a local 5k, running the race, and then running back home but we'll see.

Nope. I hope they are released before Christmas!

I have 4 miles tomorrow. Still a little lower mileage with my new training plan. :)

I've got one of my last pre-Dopey long runs tomorrow (or Sunday, depending on the chance for severe weather) - shooting for 18 miles or 4 hours, whichever comes first. Dealing with a tiny pain in my knee and some pain in my calf muscle from some balance and strength work I've been doing, but I'm ready to get out there and get it over with.

Running 7 tomorrow... what is everyones weekend long run plans!?

Did 7 miles this morning..weather was great. If I remember you are near DC which should have great weather for tomorrow!
I feel pretty good about my run...a bit erratic but average pace was goo.

@Dis5150 Hope you make it to packet pickup....stay away from the greasy foods (yeah my daughters and I ate at Chick'fil the night before our first half???). Try and relax and have fun!

I just ordered my first sparkle skirt. I'm so excited!

No long runs this weekend. I did nearly six yesterday with a head cold so I'm done for the week! As I was cooling down yesterday I looked at my fitbit app and noticed that I was staggering along at a 16 minute pace. It felt soooo slow. At least now I know what that feels like and I will know if I'm slowing down too much during the race. I hadn't intended to go as far as I did, but I left my jacket around the track and I had to go get it and then walk to my car. LOL!

Okay guys.... I need you to talk me down, lol! I am so NERVOUS for my half tomorrow! It will be my first actual half, since the fiasco that was W&D, and my stomach is already in knots. And of course today is our Christmas Open House at work, so lots of yummy stuff that I can't (shouldn't anyway, lol) eat.

My DH is picking me up from work at 4:15 and we are leaving from here. The race is 1 1/2 hours away and the packet pickup ends at 7:00. Since I have no idea where I am going (never been to that town) we will probably be cutting it close. Then, I have no idea what to do for dinner. We are spending the night in a hotel there, so that means eating out. The only restaurant that isn't a fast food chain that I can see listed is Red Lobster. I haven't eaten at one of those in 15+ years so I have no idea how their food would affect my stomach. May end up at Subway.

Hopefully my ankle/tendon will hold up thru the whole race. I have had zero pain for the last couple of days, so that is reassuring. I haven't done a long run since 11/14 and that was just 9 miles. Everyone please give me good thoughts and prayers tomorrow morning!

You can do it! Don't eat anything crazy beforehand, and you should be fine. I would have some kind of grilled salmon and steamed veggies from Red Lobster. I'm sure they have that, and it's about as mild as you can get. Subway would also be fine, if you've done it before. Just go easy on the raw veggies, or you could regret that later.

Hoping you had a great run. Looking forward to your recap of the event.

I have to drag myself to the mall this week. I may just reward myself with the tiara I plan to wear for the race. That way I can get used to running in it. Surely that won't get me any strange looks at the gym or the track. Lol! I won't look any stranger than the woman who sings out loud, directs the choir and has a worship service on the treadmill!

Well I did it, lol! Details to be posted later but I managed a sub 3:00 half. Currently icing my stupid tendon so I can stand long enough to shower lol!

Idk how many people there were but over 400 so not to shabby for my first half!

It was so beautiful here in NH today that I decided last night that I wanted to do a half today. So, I got up at 5:30am and drove 2 hours to the NH/MA border to do the Jingle Bell Half. I figured why do a training run when I could do a training run with bling at the end. Lol! It was a pretty hilly course. The last three miles were mostly uphill, but I couldn't ask for better weather.

1. Who cares if you get strange looks! You are a princess!
2. I got really into my music once and tried to direct the choir on the treadmill. I almost fell off. I do not recommend it. lol
