"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

Not sure if this has been discussed, but wanted to share what happened to me yesterday. I planned a "last minute" trip for the weekend of Sept. 19th. This included MNSSHP. Due to some circumstances out of my control, I had to move the entire trip to the following weekend. After freaking out quite a bit, I called ticketing to ask if I could move my party tickets to the other day. This did this with no problem at all. I just have to wait for the tickets to be mailed to me rather than print them at home. I thanked the CM a million times. I was under the impression that I would just lose out on the cost and have to re-purchase. I was so thankful that this wasn't the case. Just an FYI!

I ended uo getting fast passes for Peter Pan since the rest of our trip it will be closed, and small world. Kept my 3-5 jungle cruise but unlikely we can use it of course. After we do dinner at CHH then small world, the party will get going and we will go get in line at the haunted mansion. Thanks for pointing that out! Definitely a better idea.

Now has anyone worn makeup, like a pale face, blackened eyes for a ghost, and been comfortable? We are going Halloween night. I am wondering if it will be too hot or humid?

During party days how bad are the lines for Anna & Elsa? I will be there 4pm on Nov 1, last night at 1minute past midnight there were no more FP+ passes available for any of the 7nights we will be there. So trying to see if party night would be a better option.

Just wondering, for those who have attended in the past, how many people really dress up in costumes vs just wearing Halloween type t-shirts? My oldest DD really wants us all to get mega dressed up in costumes but we are attending the party the same day we fly in (It is an early morning flight, but we realistically will not arrive until late afternoon into WDW). It will be tight to make it to MK by 4, which I really want to do as our trip is pretty short. I am voting for us all to just wear a Halloween shirt of some type to eliminate the need of having to make an extra effort to change and pack costumes in our carry on bag....but I don't want her to be disappointed if we show up and everyone else is dressed to the 9s in costumes. Also, if we arrive in costumes, will they let us in before 7? If we make it to the park by 3:30, will that be an issue? (We have APs, so if we get there before the party hours I am going to try to still get in, not sure if we are dressed in a costume, if that will be an issue). I would love to get dressed up and really enjoy it for her sake, but the idea of the flight that same day, with resort check in, is making this momma a little bit concerned. Thanks for your help!

Unless you want TONS of candy, the bag is plenty big. We only stopped at one place, and did one whole trail. Filled maybe a quarter of each bag. But then when we dumped it all out, it was a lot.

I have read conflicting reports regarding this, so I figured I would ask in the Official MNSSHP thread.

My party will be a group of three adults and we all plan to be in costume (Wizard of Oz themed). We will be attending attending the MNSSHP on Halloween night and plan to spend the entire day in MK.

Would you expect there to be any issue in wearing the costumes before the party officially starts? If anything, with it being the day of Halloween our thoughts were that perhaps the CM's would be more lenient.

Also, we have a brunch reservation at Chef Mickey's that day as well so we will be heading over to the Contemporary for a short break in the afternoon. We love the thought of being in our costumes for our character dining meal, but also understand if this would be against Disney policy.

We went in and saw others going in wearing costumes at 4 last year. We went on 2 different party nights early last Sept, and it was quite warm, so didn't go full on costumes. You will see lots of both, Halloween t-shirts and full on costumes, wig, make up etc. There will also be lots of people in just regular clothes.

Our first party night we arrived at Art of Animation around 2 pm, got checked in early ("our" room wasn't ready but they gave us another), costumed up, and out to the bus stop by 4:45 and to the park around 5 pm. So we did lose time, and didn't have elaborate outfits/hair. The first night we were Lego characters from the Lego movie (totally not Disney, but youngest had his heart set on Emmett--and we did see a few other Lego movie costumes including a very cool Lord Business!)



The next party we did much better on time and got to the park at 4, but I was the only one in a costume, the others were about comfort and the rides! I should have practiced my makeup before, but only decided on the costume and made it the week before as it was a very last minute thing!







It was quite warm, so we were all glad to be in t-shirts/shorts/capris and tennis shoes! My advice with kids is to strike a balance between comfort and fun! and bring a change of clothes just in case! Hope you have a great time!

Are you talking about during the party or during the day on a party night?

During the party itself, I think the lines will be pretty average (i.e., 45-75 minutes). If you go on a party day but don't have a party ticket, getting into line around 6:30 will probably be a good strategy. FP+s end at 6:30 on party nights, and the CMs are motivated to get non-party guests out of the park before the party starts, so non-party guests are essentially given priority and are ushered past party guests during that last half hour. If you're a party guest, though, you'll be asked to queue up in the party line. My recommendation (and what I intend to do since A&E was also sold out for our entire trip at the 60 day mark) is to get in line for A&E close to park close on the day of a party when you don't actually have party tickets. I know I witnessed people last year doing this with pretty much zero wait, so I hope the strategy still works.

During the party, waits are around 25-45 minutes. I'd do it during the first parade.

So excited! Ordered our costumes - DS(5) is Captain Hook, DD(7) is Tinker Bell, I am Peter Pan and DH is Smee. He isn't too happy about being smee LOL Just hope DS will wear the costume.

ok, thanks! so the average waits for the rides are .... ? I ask because my 4 year old told me he doesn't want to see any characters, he just wants to RIDE! Although, I'd like to meet Maleficent and some of the other villains, but I won't push it, we'll just try to grab any characters we come across.

Also, we are from New Orleans, so the concept of a parade without something being thrown may be lost on my kid. Is the parade REALLY that big of a deal? or could we skip it ?

Its my understanding that Maleficient won't be there this year or at least not as a meet and greet. As far as the parade I love it!! It is probably my favorite Disney parade so I would never miss it. I love the music and the gravediggers and just the overall feel of it. You may not be a parade person but to me this is not the one I would skip. You do have two chances to see the parade so perhaps you could watch it once and ride during the other. Second parade is generally less crowded if your 4 year old can stay up late. Enjoy our trip!
