"Official" 2015 MNSSHP thread

not sure but I thnik I saw that you can meet maleficent with aurora ans snow white with evil queen at the princess spot
That seemed to be the original plan last year, then the Villains Soiree happened. No word yet on how those characters will be dispersed this year.

Do you know where you saw that? That was announced last year, but later changed in favor of the villains soirée.

ETA: lol, @Missyrose!

I asked on Kenny the Pirate's page, figured he'd probably know. Hope there are some different, rare characters. Hope Baloo shows up again since we are dressing as Tale Spin Baloo and Don Karnage.

My son loves SotMK. Just be aware that the 1st time you play, you'll get a starter pack. Each day after that, you'll need to open and play 1 portal before you can go and get your pack for the day. You can either get a key hole card to open portals or have it set up to use your mb. We prefer to use a keyhole card.

The party cards are given out 1 per mnsshp ticket and each person getting the card must be present.

Thanks so much for these tips! Starting to get really excited!!!!

I think if it works for your family, stick with your plan, especially if you only have one MK day (other than the party day) My family would definitely need two full MK days!

Thank you for your suggestion. If we didn't got to MK on party day, we would probably do AK or HS then the party. Then we would use the day we had originally planned for AK/HS at MK, thereby getting three 'days' at MK. It's just easywdw doesn't recommend HS or AK on those days because everyone else will be doing the same. :scratchin

We've done MK on a party day, and the morning (assuming no EMH) is some of the best touring we've been able to do. That being said, by 4 PM....mob scene. We usually leave, at that point, and either hop to another park for the evening festivities (Fantasmic or Illuminations) or do dinner somewhere and head back to the resort for a pool night (MOVIES AND SMORES!!).

That being said, on OUR party night, we tend to avoid MK in the AM and do something else...either another park or a down time day (to make up for the late night with the kiddos).

I’m so torn about my party day. The original plan was to do MK in the morning, go back to hotel at noon, then party. However, seems like I’ll be walking a lot the day before the party. Now I’m tempted to take the morning easy. You said that MK morning on party day was one of your best touring. What month was that, pilferk?

MK mornings for party dates that fall into free dining periods will likely be more crowded than in years past. With the hopper as one of the requirements for the first time, expect that to have some impact.

Very late september into early/mid october (columbus day, all bets are off). I think a lot of folks coming to the park do it later, so they can push through til midnight for the party. And lots of non party goers avoid it.

A later poster mentioned free dining having an effect....that could be true, idk. We've been during free dining promos (none for us, we are dvc owners), and i've not noticed it, for these specific circumstances, though. The hopper addition may change that.

We went to MK last year on a party day, but not for the party. We got there at park opening, and it was amazing the low crowd level. I have a picture of my son and I on BTMRR (second ride of the day for us) and there are only two other people on the ride with us. We had little to no waits all day long. I'm not sure what time we left, but I remember seeing people in costume, and it had started to feel more crowded, but the morning and early afternoon were great. Doing it again this year, and then going to the party on a different day for the first time. :yay:

This will be our first MNSSHP and I am absolutely bursting with excitement. Unfortunately I have NO idea what DH and I should dress as. My kids have already chosen their typical Super Hero/Princess choices but DH and I are stumped. I couldn't convince them to do a family theme at all- little turds.

We are going as the Carousel of Progress family from the 4th of July scene.

I LOVE this idea!! Unusual costumes are the best :)

I know it's early but what's everyone doing for costumes this year? I'm very short on ideas!!! Definitely need some inspiration please DISers!

We are going as people from Tomorrowland, even though the movie was a bit of a flop we loved it! Myself and DS are going as Athena and Frank with my mom and DH going as 1964 world fair attendees with tomorrowland pins, nice and simple and ok for the hot weather :) Can't wait!!

It will be easier the next party you go to. After they see all the other themed party goers, their little minds will start churring. First party we went to in 2012 my husband and I went as Jack and Sally, DS went as a pirate. The next party 2014 we went as Lone Ranger, Tonto, and Red.

Not sure how to tie together Thor and Elsa :rotfl:
Maybe mini theme it then, one of you goes as a character from frozen, another as an avengers. Or since both Thor and Elsa have powers just go as different superheroes. Or if you want to be less general they both control elements so go as those type of superheroes.

That's actually kind of brilliant!!! Thanks for the suggestion!!!

My backup plan was to go as Candace Flynn (my real name is Candice) since I'm obsessed with Phineas and Ferb. My daughters name is Isabella and I so badly wanted to do Candace, Isabella, Phineas (Hub) and Ferb (Son). Oh well. My husband wants to dress up as Bob from Bob's Burgers- I tried telling him it has to at least be a little Disney related :haha:

That's a great idea.

My kids are also only 4 and 6, and DS (4) doesn't remember our last trip 2 years ago- so I suspect you're right. Once they see what it's all about, they will likely come up with some ideas of their own. The only way I could see it working is if we did Marvel characters- my son is obsessed with Antman and my daugther loves Wasp. Unfortnately she's so obscure that I can't find a kids costume and I can't sew. I should look into turnaround time to have something made, because I'm sure if I brought up the idea of a Wasp costume to DD she would freak out.

I have several of our past themes in post 2 of my guest list thread. Maybe they will be inspired if they see some pics. Lol
