I was disappointed at first too, but agree it's growing on me. Especially when I saw the detailed photo that @Ariel484 posted. A spinner, two gems, a castle and a running Mickey. That's pretty solid.

Great point. I do like the art on the spinner portion a lot. The diamond shape I think is what is throwing me the most, but it does fit with the sort of classic, retro theme that the DL half always seems to have, so it makes sense.

I'm not sure the point of the "spinner". When would that come in to play? Not in the .01% of the time I'll actually be wearing it or the 99.99% of the time it will be hanging on my wall/trophy case.

The 10k is starting to grow on me.

What is the quote on the bottom of the Half medal? Is it the Walt Disney quote "It's kind of fun to do the impossible!" Can't make all of it out, so I am guessing on part of it. That makes me like it even more!

As for the spinner, RunDisney traditionally puts a spinner feature on its anniversary medals.

I think you're right about the quote, and I agree - that does make it better. I think that the side of the spinner with the castle says "60 years of magic," which is also pretty cool.

Spinner just makes it a little more special, I think.

It might be. That picture doesn't show the back of the medal (behind the script D) - if they could fit it anywhere, I'd think it would be there.

ADORE the half-love Disney spinner medals-that wsy they always show the old and the new-like the 20th which is my fave medal I own!

The DDD? Meh. Yes, I know it has to be dumbo but it looks childish to me.

I just brought it up to the husband, oh, at like 8 p.m. last night. I was going to make reservations anyway and try to get him to agree with it when he was distracted or something. But I sent him a blog item (the one I posted) and kind of explained it to him and he was all ... "I wouldn't be angry if that's what we did Monday night."

Of course, that was after he asked if he could skip the parks on Monday and go to another brewery. Le sigh. You win some, you lose some.

I just think the concept of them styling and ENTIRE six-course menu after your likes and dislikes - and on the fly! - is just something too unique to pass up.

Now, I'm off to cancel my Blue Bayou reservation for Thursday night.

On the half medal, the castle side is that a little crystal in blue? On mickey side looks like clear crystal? Located right on the bottom of the spinner.

Back to the medal. It's growing on me - especially since it's so unique to all of the other runDisney medals, but I REALLY need one of those traditional D logo medals.

Guess this just means I'll have to run next year too, right?
