Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Back to the medal. It's growing on me - especially since it's so unique to all of the other runDisney medals, but I REALLY need one of those traditional D logo medals.

Guess this just means I'll have to run next year too, right?

You've come a long way since you were worried about that first 10k. Kudos!

Question - my friend M was planning on getting her medal engraved since this is her first Half.

Those of you that have received "spinner" medals - is that possible??

The last W&D medal could be engraved at the top, close to where it attaches to the lanyard. So I imagine for this one it will be similar, or behind the D.

I love the medals!!! The Walt Disney quote in the half medal is one of my very favorites, and totally applies to how I feel about running - "It's kinda fun to do the impossible."
I was also expecting the traditional giant 'D' medal, so this was a surprise, but now I have a good excuse to run DL Half again!

I have to admit, though, that I've sort of soured on their stuff recently. Their new designs haven't been grabbing me (I haven't bought anything from them since their Black Friday sale) and for me, their clothes are REALLY awful to run in. I sweat a lot (ew) and not only do the non-black shirts look awful on sweaty me, I've also found that their moisture-wicking properties leave a lot to be desired. :confused3 So I don't run in their stuff at all anymore...just wear the shirts around during non-running times.

OMG! I am so glad I am not the only one who feels this way about the lack of wicking capabilities of RawThreads shirts. I picked up one of their random shirt packs based on the glowing reviews and hate them for running. I finished a 45 min run and the tank was so wet, I was able to wring so much sweat out of it, I could have watered a plant with it. I have never had that problem with any of my other shirts. It also got heavy and was uncomfortable the last half of my run.

Thanks to a very generous DISer, I managed to get my hands on one! I love our little group, everyone's so lovely and supportive of each other :goodvibes

I have never actually seen one of these in person, so have no idea whether the tech fabric will be comfortable for me or not. It's great I've had the opportunity to get a cheap one to try out first and see if I actually like it! And if it doesn't work out for running, they're such cute designs, I'm sure I'll wear it as a regular t-shirt anyway.

Finally!

My thoughts...
5K medallion is perfect. Cutest thing ever.
10K medal is AWESOME! So unique!
The half medal...not sure. Honestly, I hated it when I first saw it, I think because I have loved and wanted the classic script D medal for years. But it's growing on me...

Dumbo medal - they threw us all off with the pastel coloring in the training plan, but otherwise, this is about what I expected from them.

I love the ribbons on all of them!!

OMG so excited to see the medals! I have to admit, I had similar thoughts about the half medal - it would have been great to get that classic D. I probably won't get another opportunity now. However, it is growing on me too, and I do love the spinner feature, the diamond shape, the little gem, and the ribbon! I think it will be a long time before any Australian races introduce spinner medals, so that will be something really unique in my bling collection.

And I love the classic feel of the 5k too. I just wish they were metal instead of rubber. But I guess then it wouldn't be able to be so detailed, so I'll take it :thumbsup2

Kind of disappointed I won't be doing the 10k. I think the villains theme is so much fun! Realistically though, I'm better off having that day off between the 5k and the half.

Aaaaand ... just got the phone call! Got in for the Chef's Counter at Napa Rose for Monday night!!

So freakin' excited about that!!

Yay! :banana::banana::banana:

Medals look like nice....still think the 5k is my fave and I'm not even doing the 5k!
All medals will look even better after we have them safely draped around our necks!

Just a few weeks until we find out corral locations!

I've signed up for the DDD +5k. I have a marathon in October (my first -yikes!), and these races fit really well into my schedule. I'm getting excited! It's not too far away now.

I can tell you what week the corrals will come out...you see, I am going on a cruise starting on 7/25 and will not have Internet access. runDisney will sense this and will put out all kinds of pertinent info.

You're welcome, everyone.

Just like they released the medals yesterday when most people were at lunch. rD is sneaky.

Oh, man. I'll totally do the 5K if I don't have to buy the whole package ...

We are getting VERY excited too. You've already received some great input on the character breakfast stuff. But I thought I would give a little more...

So at Storytellers Café it is a "Critter Breakfast" you will likely see Chip, Dale, Meeko, the two bears from Brother Bear. (They may also have Brer Fox or Brer Bear). They also have a park ranger that walks around and provides some games and interaction with the younger guests. The Breakfast is more low key and relaxed. The presentation is a little more classy then the Surf's up Breakfast. When me and my sister went last November it wasn't terribly busy and I swear Meeko and Chip visited our table 3 or 4 times. Meeko even stole my sisters phone and started taking selfies. It was very fun.

At the PCH Grill they have the "Surf's-Up with Mickey" Breakfast. Here you will likely see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Stich. You could see Pluto but you won't see Chip or Dale and I'm pretty sure you won't see Goofy (although he has been there before). They are all wearing Beach clothing. It is a fun breakfast. It is a little more bold and bright with the look and feel of the restaurant (louder music, etc.)

Goofy's Kitchen is the "Original" Character breakfast at Disneyland, found at the Disneyland Hotel. Here you will always get Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, and Dale. You will get additional Bruch items and desserts that you won't find elsewhere.

Breakfast with Minnie at Disneyland at the Plaza Inn will likely get you the most characters. Often I've heard people seeing 7 or 8. Usually Minnie, Pooh and Friends, plus some classic characters like the fairy Godmother, Hook, Peter Pan, etc.

Last option... There is a Princess Breakfast over at California Adventure. People usually have pictures with 5 different princess there.

All of the Character Breakfasts have the classic Breakfast items like waffles, eggs, and bacon. But each one will have there own additional items. I think Surfs up has some fruit smoothies, goofy has peanut butter and jelly pizza and lots of desserts, etc.

How can Minnie be at more than one breakfast?

Oh, man. I'll totally do the 5K if I don't have to buy the whole package ...

That's what I'm thinking. But I haven't bought party or park tickets yet....so I could use the package...it's just a bit overpriced from what I was going to pay for those.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, my Mom still needs a two-day ticket, but I already have a Party ticket and I'm the only one in our group that will be there on Thursday for the party, so I definitely don't need the extra Party ticket.

I sent Jim an email. I'll let you know what he says!

Woohoo! Thanks @Keels

If it is only the package, and I decide to go for it (and you do too), DH would still need a party ticket, so I could buy it from you. Just throwing out ideas!!

Oooh ... good to know!

I just emailed someone mentioned on the FB group. They bought a bib only from a TA for $99. I sent her an email as well! I'll let you know if I hear anything!

$99 its totally reasonable! I could handle that.

Is it safe to assume the Coast-To-Coast medal will stay the same?

They just change the ribbons now. I liked how they did them when they 1st started doing them w/ the year in a little box dangling from the bottom of the medal. But I'm not complaining, they still are a beautiful medal!

On the half medal, the castle side is that a little crystal in blue? On mickey side looks like clear crystal? Located right on the bottom of the spinner.

I noticed that yesterday too. It's a nod to the 60th, b/c they have the diamonds all over the parks and the colors for the celebration are blue and white.
