Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

Proof of Time submission is open! I just put mine in. :)

I'm hoping to improve on what I submitted but realistically I'm not sure I will this year...if anything maybe by a few seconds or so.

We're in - and I've got lots of room for improvement. Hopefully I can get a good time in the half this weekend!

Trying to track down a couple more 10Ks. I'm still bummed that I had to do the Cowtown "virtually" because they canceled due to weather.

I have a hard time finding 10Ks in my area, which is unfortunate because I really like that distance. :confused3

Me, too. :( And finding "certified" 10Ks are even more difficult. May 2 is looking like my last shot unless I want to travel somewhere else.

The certified thing has been confusing to me. The time I used for Dumbo is the same one I used for Dopey and it is NOT from a certified course. It worked fine for Dopey. :confused3

The other time I have IS from a certified course. I'm wondering if I should use that one instead just to be safe.

The 10K time I entered is most definitely certified (it was a Rock & Roll event), but I just went through the database and the half I'm running this weekend isn't certified, but the course is (under a different event name in a different month) ... so who knows? Oh wells.

I'm running a half at the end of the month. Hoping for a PR to submit, but if not will go with my time from last spring. My head is telling me that a PR isn't likeky due to lack of long runs this winter. But my heart is telling me I'm stronger than I was at this time last year, so I could go faster. Fingers crossed.

Oh, and talking about workouts earlier. I did an Aqua Zumba class once a week last fall. It was a great all over workout without any impact. I'll be taking it again starting next week.

So, I just found out that I have 15 days of vacation that I have to use by the end of the fiscal year...on top of the 11 that I knew I had to use and had planned on. Now I'm thinking that heading down for the Disneyland Half might be a worthwhile use of my time and $$. What are the odds of getting a decent hotel room this close to the event? The cost from some of the travel providers is a little too much...nearly double the normal entry.

I just booked Hotel Menage last week. It's not quite as close as some others, but was a great deal on hotels.com. We originally had a hotel on Katella Ave. booked but had to change our travel dates and the hotel could not accommodate the new dates. http://www.hotelmenage.com/home

Not sure about hotels, but make sure you check what all comes with the package from a travel provider. Mine included a half bib, pin, ticket to the Anniversary Party and a two-day PH ticket. It worked out to actually be cheaper as the package than if I bought all the items separately.

I'm thinking DDD, but might just go with the half to save the money and relax.

With the races all sold out, how were your planning to get a bib? You will probably need to use one of the travel vendors that supplies you with a package that includes your room. I haven't checked what availability they still have but you can find a list of Travel Providers on the Registration page of the Run Disney Website.

I think Get Travel still had half bibs left. They seemed to be the best deal and don't require a specific hotel, but you can use them for a hotel as well.

I looked at the travel providers, there are several that have bibs - Get didn't, but Foerster and Marathon Tours did. The ones with hotels included are not all that badly priced. I have an AP, so don't need park tickets, but figure I can find someone to use tickets.

I'm going to wait to submit my proof of time. Still planning to improve before the cut off date, and DH doesn't have anything yet except for our Disneyland 10k last year, which wasn't a great time and would put him in a corral behind me. I'll let my parents know though, they've both cracked the 2 hour half already so they'll get REALLY good corrals!

Anyone staying at the Hilton on Convention Way? Made reservations a couple of weeks ago. Rates on the Hilton website were cheaper than what Get Travel was offering which I thought was odd. Anyone have any experiences with this hotel?

I submitted my time from last year's Disneyland half. Looks like some of you are using 10k times. Is that a better time to use or does it really matter.

I've been training for 10k for a while now and have not done a half yet, so if I tried to do a half to use as my proof of time, it would be quite slow in comparison. If you have a decent time for a half, just use that.

I too booked through a travel agent by the time I added everything that I am receiving and the time and anxiety of try to register the morning the entry opened. Now I will go with the travel agent. The morning of registration I was watching the DDD bar as it was selling out we had 2 devises trying to get in no luck. Then started with the travel providers got lucky on second one at least he could hold my entry till all info was recorded. So I have learned something that morning. I agree if you don't want any of the extras it is cheaper with just registration.

For the WDW half Marathon in January I submitted my 10k time from an earlier race and that was good enough to get me bumped up four corrals.
