Official 2015 Disneyland Half Marathon Thread.

I was watching the finish of the full marathon in Epcot last week, and more than a few runners came by carrying beers, a couple even had turkey legs and beer. I guess that's one way to finish a race he might like.
My friend and her husband bought margaritas in Mexico to carry across the finish!! :teeth:

Men... :) your husband sounds pretty awesome and supportive though!

Yeah - I think I'll keep him around for a while.

He's really excited about W&D for two reasons - it's a night race (he's a night owl - not a morning person by ANY stretch), and one of our very first dates was eating/drinking around the World at Food & Wine like 15 years ago!

Having just survived my first half marathon, I'm now committing myself to THREE more this year. I was registering for the "Frederick Half Marathon" and noticed the "Maryland Double" which adds in the Baltimore Half Marathon in October. Combined with the Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare and I'm looking at a total of: 45.8 Miles of "fun" this year!!

A worthy goal for a guy that just managed his first 10k in August. So watch out Keels, you never know where that first race can take you!

Congrats on registering for the Maryland Double. That's what I did last year with the 5k and Half in Frederick and the Full in Baltimore. The Baltimore run was really nice as we went by the zoo, the Inner Harbor, Under Armour factory, before joining the half marathoners for an uphill run through neighborhoods, and a nice lake/park area before a downhill finish between Camden Yards and M & T stadium.
The Maryland Double challenge medal is very nice.

I'm still thinking about the DDD at Disneyland to get my Coast to Coast.
Couple of obstacles to overcome: getting support from my wife to do it with me or at least let me do it, saving my pennies for another Disney trip, and safely navigating the registration process on 2/10.

I bet it will be a blast!

That's the part I'm most nervous about. :crazy2:

I'm with y'all on registration, though I feel a little bit better that I'm not going for DDD - even though I'm registering two people for the Half, I should be OK ... right? Guh.

Two computers would be better....

In past registrations, one of the key factors has been already having an account with Active and going directly to the active.com website to register. The link from the rD site is often swamped. Plus being online exactly when registration opens and hammering the keys like Lightning McQueen on a dry racecourse!

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm planning on.

Worst case, I figure I'll get the husband registered first (in case he's on a conference call or something and can't get it done himself), and then if I can't get in, I'll go through a travel provider like GET or Acclaim for my registration since I'm the one that needs extra days of park tickets.

The DDD and 10k will definitely sell out the fastest. I believe there are only about 5000 DDD bibs available. Plus, even though there are about 10,000 participants in the 10k, once you take out the 5000 that are doing it on DDD bibs, that only leaves 5000 for everyone else who wants to do it. The half has a capacity of about 20,000, so even once you take out the spots for DDD, there's still 15,000 available. This is all based on last year's figures of course and very approximate.

Last year I registered 4 people for the 10k (just in time!), and 3 for the 5k. I'm expecting it to be much easier this year just registering the 2 of us for the half and the 5k. My parents have decided to take care of their own registrations this year, so that takes the pressure off me a bit. Plus, I can try for the early registration with my AP as well (which is THIS weekend I might add!).

Yeah, I feel pretty comfortable that if I log in about 30 minutes prior to the start of open registration that we'll be good to go. I guess the only factor is if the 60th Anniversary of DLR causes more people to want to sign up for the race.

Holy Cow! AP registration time already?!?
Hmm, thought AP registration was a week from today (1/27 at noon EST)?

Confirmation from runDisney.com on their Registration page:

"Early Registration Opportunities

Select early registration opportunities are available two weeks prior to the official registration opening date for each race weekend.
Walt Disney World® Annual Passholders - Learn more
Disneyland® Annual Passholders - Learn more
Disney Vacation Club Members - Learn more
Select Travel Provider Packages*..."

Two weeks before regular registration is January 27. I still don't see any updates on the WDW AP website though.

1/27 is still what it says on the AP website. Do you know something we don't Zanzibar?

Sorry I got confused with the time difference. Was thinking it would be Monday for me (which is part of the Australia Day long weekend), but it's actually Wednesday the 28th at 4am

Really hoping I get all our registrations done during the early registration so I don't have to get up at 3:30am again for regular registration :crazy2:

No worries!! I hope you get it done on the first try, too. :)

Shannon - where did you find those SUPER cute tops you wore during the Dopey?? (Sorry - I'm bored tonight so I'm doing some TR stalking!)

I assume those are the ones you're asking about! BE WARNED: they aren't super breathable and the non-black ones REALLY show sweat. It was sort of a problem for me during the half.

Dang! Why do the cutest things always have to be the least "functional" when you need them to be??

I loved the outfits you put together for the 5K and 10K! You've inspired me to up my outfit game for New Orleans this weekend. :)
