OFFICIAL 2014 WDW Marathon Countdown: WE DID IT! Congrats everyone!

Well, you sold me on giving the app a try. It sounds like a blast. I downloaded it yesterday and planned to give it a try this morning, but it was pouring rain when I got up to run. Hoping this afternoon will be clear enough that I can get a run in after work. I'm even more anxious to get in my run just so I can try out Zombies, RUN!

Hahaha, how did you like it? The first mission is so intense! I remember coming back from my run like, "What the heck was that? I need a run to relax from my run!" :rotfl2:

I found out yesterday my Asics GT 2000s were a big part of my ITBS problem, so I'm trying out the Brooks Ghost 6. It's always exciting getting a new pair of shoes :thumbsup2 I hope these work because I'm so angry with Asics right now.

I liked it a lot. The rain never did clear, so I ended up doing my run on the treadmill so I didn't enable the chase feature. I just listened to the story and enjoyed that a lot. I think once I'm out on the road and using GPS and the chase feature it will be even more enjoyable. Thanks for the recommendation!

Did you use the previous line of Asics before the 2000? I wear the 2160's still. I bought two pairs at the end of their being sold and they are still working, for now. I'm so scared to switch to the 2000's....but eventually I'm going to need new shoes.

My cousins who will be running (their 1 and only ever FULL) marathon with me in January decided they wanted to run at least a half before that. So they signed up for a race in our area at the end of September. Them a half, me a full.

Yes. I loved :goodvibes the 2150s, 60s and 70s and never had a problem with those shoes. I cannot recommend the GT 2000s at all. The way they are built goes against my inserts and right away the runner I was working with saw my feet were rolling to the outside, putting pressure on the outside of my leg. He saw how great my feet fit the inserts, so he picked out shoes that would be great with my inserts, Brooks Ghost being one of them.

:eek:I have been a big fan of Asics 2170. I have been through about 4 pairs and was so sad when I found out I couldn't get them anymore.

I just ordered the 2000 and got them yesterday. I did my first run with them today and it seemed fine. Although it was only a 3 miler so I don't know how they will work out on long runs. I didn't really notice anything bad about them, the toe box seemed a little narrower but they also felt lighter which I liked.

I hope they work out okay for me b/c I would hate to be out $100. I wish I had known the 2170 were going away. I would have stocked up.

Good luck! For me, my bio-mechanics just don't get along with the all the changes Asics made.

Well, surgery on Tuesday was successful and well still be there in January, but looking forward to racing again in 2015

I wish I had bought a few more pairs of the 2160's or 2170's while they were still out...

Right now my two pairs of 2160's are still good. I wear custom orthotics (which I just got this summer) in them so that will extend the life, I think anyway.

When I need new shoes I'll go to my running store with my orthotics and try the Asics 2000's (or whatever the model is at the time), and if they don't work I'll try other models or switch brands. My store allows returns if they don't work out (have to only use them on a tm though) so that's good.

For those who have already run, how incredible is the Pasta in the Park Party? I would really love to go, but I'm a college student and, well, $50 is a lot for my best friend and me to pay for one dinner. Are the characters and/or light show amazing? TIA!

To be perfectly honest, it is what you make of it. The food is okay. They ran out the night I went. The fab four were the characters that made appearances and signed autographs and had photos. There was a special reserved section of World Showcase Lagoon to see Illuminations, which was nice. I prefer my favorite spot, but it was nice to have something.

Really really REALLY dumb question...

Is there transportation from the resorts to the WWOS Complex for the Expo and the Kids' races?

Yes, definitely transportation from resorts to the Expo (FYI "Last buses will depart from the Expo 30 minutes after it closes."). And also from rundisney.com:
runDisney Kids Races

Please use transportation to Disney's Health & Fitness Expo to reach the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

Goofy's at 94%. I feel like it would be sold out if the Dopey challenge wasn't offered.

Anybody getting excited about this weekend with all the talk about DL weekend? My training hasn't even started and I have to pull in the reins.

The RunDisney website says that there is a spectator viewing area at the Magic Kingdom? Does anyone know where this is? It also mentions a ChEAR zone area which requires a wrist band. Has anyone purchased a ChEAR squad package before? Is it worth it or is the spectator viewing area good enough?

The RunDisney website also states that the Magic Kingdom is open at 5:30am for spectators to enter and that they should take the monorail from Epcot to the TTC, then TTC to MK. Does anyone know if there are busses running from the resorts to MK that early in the morning for spectators?

TIA for any info.

Does anyone have any advice for the horrible pain in the ball of my foot, extending through my arch? It was only my left foot now my right foot is starting up! . Ugh. I have run 4 half marathons, a few 10k and countless 5k. Now that I am running Jeff galloways goofy challenge training schedule the pain is horrible.
I ice my feet, roll them on tennis balls and use bio freeze. Nothing helps.

What are my options? Cortisone injection? Surgery to remove the nerve? Not loving these options...

Thanks!!!!
