I'm really surprised the 10k isn't showing at leat 50% yet...I figured it would go pretty fast. Guess everyone wanted a challenge :confused3

Do you all think it would be possible, logistically speaking, for me to run the 10K and still get DD over to the kids races with enough time?

Hello! Im looking for some expert CA advice. :)If I arrive into LAX for Tinkerbell on Saturday at 3:30, will I make it to the expo by 7? I have no clue what Type of travel time I will be looking at!

The expo actually closes at 5PM on Saturday, so you will definitely want to go directly from the airport to the expo hall at the Disneyland Hotel. It should usually only take 45 minutes, but you never know what traffic might spring up.

This past year, we landed at 2 on Saturday and my friends wanted to grab lunch first, which wouldn't have been a problem, except lunch took forever, and it seemed like I was the only one who cared we might not make it in time! After a white knuckled and tense (for me) hour+ long wait in traffic, we made it, but only by minutes! Whew. I never want to have that stress again.

73%!

I think this race has a loyal following with so many of us going for legacy.

Agreed! I wonder if it's because running has become so much more popular the last 3 or so years, especially among women? I know I started running a little over 2 years ago, so Tinker Bell is the only new half they've debuted while I've been running, so it makes me especially motivated to keep my legacy status.

Do we know what time the kids races are yet? That's why I didn't reg. for the 10K..... I can't miss our Mouseketeer's race.
Last year the (Tink) kids races were held in the Paradise Pier parking lot. Who knows where they will be this year.

Yep. 10k is at 6:15 right? Youre done by 7:30 and kids races won't be until 10 at earliest I bet

Do it

Weekend traffic is awful. If you are stuck on the 3:30pm flight you will need to book it straight to the expo, don't stop to check in to your hotel. Even then you'll be cutting it close if its closes at 5pm.

Very tempting....definitely thinking about this one.

Cons: waking up early 2 days in a row, tired legs for the half and rundisney gets more of my $

Pros: a 10K in DL, another medal, could take it easy on the run and take pics

ETA: Just talked to one of my girlfriends and almost have her talked into heading to DL for the weekend with her fam!!! Shes new to running and might do the 10K. What kind of friend would I be if I didn't do it with her?

ordered my pins this morning......should have registered for the 10K but didn't. UGH.....want to wait and see how DD10 does on her 5K over Labor Day weekend. doubt there will still be spots open then. oh well....maybe we'll just do the 5K.

you never know...it's not even showing 50% yet!

BF registered for the half yesterday...once I told him it made it to 73% he jumped. Looks like that's where it's stalled out though. I'll probably go ahead and book air this week too...planned to use miles for this trip and looks like there are plenty of 25k total mileage reward flights on UA for the days I want to go, so may as well get that taken care of before I forget and they disappear. Crossing my fingers that some of the mileage flights for PHM in February will come down...I wanted to use miles for that too, but those are sitting at 50k miles now...no thanks! The last year or so, deals from Houston to MCO are just non-existent...whether miles or $$...it's gotten crazy!

I'm trying out a new hydration belt soon...I won an ifitness belt through a blog giveaway recently and just ordered the hydration bottles to go on it, so I'm excited to try it out. I've been a loyal fan of Amphipod since I started running, but that ifitness belt is awfully comfy...but that was just trying it on around the house...still need to road-test it.

Cripey- Did you get signed up for the DIVA race? I did!

I'm going to sign up on Friday. Registration for the Tink 10k + BF's birthday all in one week = needed to wait until payday...but I don't want to miss out on the 15% off so will definitely get registered this week. I'm excited! Also, I went ahead and booked a room at the Hilton on Seawall Blvd. They had a pretty decent rate and it was available to book...splurged on a gulf-facing room with balcony though since I'll likely be hanging out in the room for most of saturday, resting up. I wasn't finding many hotels on the Strand, and the ones that were there, weren't available to book yet. But, I did go with the fully-refundable rate at the Hilton so I can switch if I find something I like better closer to the start line (and I know a few folks with beach houses in the area so, you know, if they happen to offer... ;) ). I really don't think it'll be a big deal to drive over to the start and find parking though...I have to keep reminding myself these aren't anywhere near as big as Disney races!

My husband and I decided to stay on seawall Boulevard too. We're going to stay at the Sheraton. I need to book my rooms this week. There will more to do there than on the strand.

I don't think we will have any trouble driving over the morning of the race either.

Maybe we can meet up and say :wave2: at the expo! I'm thinking I may try to find a spa or nail salon in the area and really make it a Diva-themed weekend...get my nails done on saturday to match whatever I decide to wear on race day or something relaxing like that, maybe book a post run massage. We were thinking about adding another day to stay sunday night as well and just drive into work from there monday morning.
