Official 2013 Tower of Terror 10 Miler

I registered for the ToT 10 Miler a few months ago! It will be my first runDisney race. I did a few 5Ks in high school. Then since November 2012 I have run five 5Ks, including one this morning! My pace today was 10:36.

I'm looking forward to it since a) ToT is one of my favorite attractions, and b) I like that the race is at night so I don't have to wake up super early. However, during my run this morning I was thinking, how on earth am I going to run 10 miles straight?! ;)

Twirling sounds like fun! Forgot to ask if you picked up your stuff the day of the event. We need to pick up that day due to the distance we are traveling. Just wondering if they were organized or if t took along time to get through the lines.

i didn't because it was local. mine was the Color Me Rad run (essentially the same thing). but they did have a set-up for packet pick-up there.

For the Color Run - there was a large packet pick up area. It was a very informal start as it is not a timed event. There is not even a clock on the run. They let people go in waves so as not to overwhelm the color blasters...many of whom where children at our run. We still had people arriving yet to run or even park when we left...and we were in about the 5th or 6th wave.

Be sure to bring a change of shirts and a towel to sit on or a change of pants/shorts for the ride home. Otherwise you might never get the stuff out of your car! Also we brought a pack of baby wipes. This got pretty much all of the loose powder off of us. We still had some on our hands from where we released our packs of powder but that came off in the shower later.

Another tip...a bandana. I used mine on my hair. Others used theirs outlaw style to cover their nose and mouth. Let's just say it was disconcerting to blow my nose later and have it come out teal. :lmao:

But it was a fun event.

Thanks for the tips, especially the bandana one. You painted a nice visual picture that has me laughing : )

Hi!! I've started training...well i've been running for the past 9 months but 6 weeks I started from scratch basically with Hal Higdon's 5K program. I plan to continue on to his spring training plan, I found it to be the most in line with how quickly I want to add mileage and spacing things perfectly for the race!

Does anyone use Nike plus or Daily Mile? I am so lonely training by myself! Would love some virtual training buddies!

I'm also on dailymile! I'm Tiffany W. and my pic is me running in a grey top and blue capris. Anyone can add me, also. :)

I signed up for this run. Whimper.

...also, start planning your costume. I regret not running in costume last year as there were so many people dressed up!

Good to know that people wear costumes! I liked your write-up, by the way.

Is it normal for people to bring kids to the after-party? We definitely won't make it to 4am, but just curious.

Sure do hope so, as my son will be there. Of course, we'll still be on Pacific time so it's not like it will FEEL that late to us.

Yeah, I saw a lot of kiddos running around at the after-party! It is a kid-friendly environment :goodvibes They can even get into the park at 10:00 as the race is starting so they can start riding rides :goodvibes

So good to know.

Out of curiosity, anyone care to share what runDisney's been quoting on Mods?

I called today and got POR standard room from the 4th to the 9th for $760. Which was quite a bit lower than the current rate online. I'll still be checking for AP room-only rates later on, but for now I'm pretty darned happy with that rate!

i clicked to get the tickets for the bash, it asks me to enter dates im travelling and it keeps bouncing back saying their are no events during my date im travelling lol so for some reason its not letting me get any further to buy a ticket for my wife, she dosnt really want to run but if we cant get her a ticket to just the party to meet me after she said she will run with me.

I think I read later that you got the ticket, but in case anyone else is having the same problem...I had to put the dates exactly as the run/party date. Highly annoying to have to figure out what the programmers wanted.

Yes you can help, or yes I can use the code? ;)

I called a rundisney number given to me by active.com, and they told me that because I'm the spouse of a DVC member then I can use it. I didn't get the impression that I would be able to use it if I were not. But.....I don't know if they'll be checking DVC cards or anything like that. And I don't know what they'll do if I get there, they check cards, and they question my use of the code. Hoping the disney person was right; but I don't know how that translates to *you*.

Thank you so much bumbershoot...glad you liked the blog post.
Consider liking my page on FB and then you can keep up with the rest of my posts. Since I just signed up for my first full Marathon (Disney Marathon, of course) I expect I will be blogging Run Disney a lot.

So "we" are officially signed up - that is hubby for the run, me for the party ;)

Very excited for our first Disney running experience, my training will involve how to stay up until 4am at WDW, I'm normally pooped by 9pm!!

No clue what it actually means but...I usually wear a regular medium but for the wine and dine got a small and it got just fine. Maybe that helps :/

1 Inch down means 1 inch down from the seam of the underarm as per Champion guidelines.
