Official 2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Thread

I did purchase the large Satchel purse-which really took me under 5 min. to pick the perfect one out and buy it and then out the door. You should have no problem getting one in a couple of week. They also were going to release the purses to stores inside DL and then Deliver Ears could help you out. Although..you might want to pick it yourself due to the "placement" of the different attraction pictures on the purse.
Good news you can use your annual passport for a discount. (20% for premium--saved 40.00) For spending over $200.00 they even threw in a credit card/luggage tag thing for free.
I hope you are able to get the one you want and the design of the bag is really even better in person. I just love my new bag. :)
Keep me posted.

Thanks for the info and the stuff about the different patterns and congrats on your new bag!! I entered the AP contest in hopes of getting a spot for the DCA preview next month and booked a room just in case. I think I'll call and order 1 if next Monday so I'll definitely have 1 and then go down regardless next month and look at the patterns and exchange it if I see one I like a little better.

My race went great! I finsihed under 40 minutes and ran the entire thing and those were my two goals! DD got to join me for the last hundred yards so that was cool for her too. And I can see where participating in races is addicting! It was so much fun! Im defintely signing up for the Tinkberll half now! Thanks for the advice on the KT tape. Gonna go goole it in a few minutes. As for hotel reservations I'm a Hojo's fan and since they had the retro rate for that weekend I went ahead and made ressies. I know it will be a longer walk to/from but its worth it for their beds :goodvibes

Congrats on your 1st race and running the whole thing!!

Kim--I looked at my receipt and there is a Merchandise Guest Service phone number- 1-877-560-6477. I guess that is the number instead of Deliver Ears. Just explain to the CM what "attraction patterns" you would like centered on the bag and I bet they will do their best in picking it out for you. Also in the gift shop in Toon Town, I found a RunDisney Pin. I could not believe it. So if you like the pins check that out too.

I also hope to get into the DCA preview next month for AP'ers. I told DH if we get it we are flying down just for the preview and fly back. Our next trip isn't until over the July 4th holiday. Can't wait for Cars Land to finally open. Keep me posted if you get into the AP preview. Good luck :)

Yeah, I think that # is the one the park blogs said to call on Monday. Thanks for the tip on the patterns. Now I have to figure out which part I like the best! :rotfl2: Personally can go w/o the DCA part, but go back and forth b/w about the castle. Love the Matterhorn and Adventure/NOS part.

I think I saw the pin last month, the generic "Run Disney" one right? It was funny ~ picked up the Grape Soda one during Tink b/c I fell in love w/ it and go down and saw how hard they seem to be pushing it everywhere and no one wearing it. :rotfl2:

Booked HoJo retro rate today for the 16-23. Total was a little over $700 for a room in building 1! can't wait :):)

These new Dooney Bags you speak of, can you tell me what they are all about (sorry to be off topic)? I am looking for a new Disney Dooney since my cruise one is gone :(

Here are some pics for you. The types of bags they have are a tassel tote, large satchel, a cross body, minibarrel bag, wristlet and an ipad case

And here's the print up close:

Aren't they awesome!! It said on the parks blog that we can start calling on Monday at the 877# Vicki mentioned to.

I thought I read they also had another new pattern available called "Buttons" or something like that that they did not release images of prior to release day like they did for this one...did you happen to see those? were they cute? I LOOOOOVE these that you posted...I was kind of hoping they would do a similar pattern for WDW though...I consider that more of my "home" resort and am there much more often than DL so I think I'd like that one better. I have the crossbody in the retro-looking DL 55th anniversary pattern though and I really love it. My BF just returned from several days in the LA area...I dropped plenty of hints that he was going to be there for this release...ok, so they weren't really hints, I just came out and said it! :) Unfortunately, he didn't make it to Anaheim though...he said he mentioned going to DL for the day to his cousin that he was visiting several times and he would say "yeah, that sounds like fun" but then always come up with something else for them to do. My BF thinks he really didn't want to go, but just didn't want to say it, so he never pushed the issue. Oh well. He and I tend to forget that not everyone drops everything and jumps at any chance for a day at Disney. Are they crazy?!? :rotfl:

Here's a pic of that type of print from ebay.

It looks like just a bunch of different disney type buttons. Get what you mean about WDW being your home park and wishing they did one, I think that's why I like this one so much. It's so unique just for DL. But if I was a WDW girl would definitely want one for WDW.

And yes, I think people who wouldn't want to go to Disney are crazy!:lmao: I went just for a couple of hours in March b/c I was in LA for the weekend and how could you be that close and not /I] go to the parks. I'm beginning to think that now it's now dangerous for me to have an AP. If gas wasn't so expensive, I would be down there every other weekend.

OOOOOH, now I REALLY like that one too...looks really nice with that black trim!

WDW did get an anniversary pattern too, but it was the same style and color scheme as the DL 55th one so I didn't feel like I needed the WDW one because they were so similar.

I have a b-day coming this summer...will have to make sure the BF knows he can order these over the phone with the merchandise folks since we don't plan to be back to DL again until Tink weekend....you know, in case he needs any ideas!!!

Hi-They did release the "button" style also on Saturday. I also read somewhere and even saw the photo that the same type of "retro bag" was also being released for WDW. But the the WDW attractions. The colors and styles looked the same the only thing different was the "attraction" are from WDW.

In regards to the crossbody bags--they look small and I really didn't check them out. How much or little can you actually fit into them? I think I might be hooked on these Dooney Bags now.:rotfl2:

I can't believe it's on Ebay already. I just can't understand that.

I know what you mean--we've had AP for 8yrs or so. People think we'er nuts going down all the time. Only 6 weeks until be go back and I'm counting the days already.
You might want to sign up for Best Western Rewards. You get points for staying at the hotels and then you can redeem the points into gift cards for stores/restaurants/free hotel stays and more importantly gas cards.
So the more you use your AP, stay at the BW's in the area, you get more points and then free gas ---HOW CAN YOU NOT GO TO DL. :rotfl: In my mind it turns into a really inexpensive trip. Almost free in a wierd way :rotfl2:

The cross body style is relatively small and thin so you can't fit a whole lot in it comfortably really other than essentials like a phone and wallet. They do have a couple of handy pockets built in on the inside, as well as an outside pouch too that i like, so it is still pretty functional for such a small bag. I love it though....I have several cross body styles in other purses too like from Vera Bradley or Coach that I always carry everywhere on weekends...it's a nice break from my giant tote that I use to go to work during the week...which is currently my lovely Disney Dooney with the red polka dot Minnie bows that I got for Valentines Day....I looooove it!i

We're currently booked in a kids suite retro rate. I'm hoping to move onsite, but need to get a peek at the pricing. I'm also a little worried about fitting 5 people (3 adults & 2 kids) in the DLR rooms.

Lastly, for all you Dooney purse lovers, there is another style released that wasn't mentioned yet. It's called charms. Here's a link with photos:

I really would like a cross body bag but it sounds like there is no way to fit glasses case/sunglasses along with all the other stuff I also have to have. I've seen your red polka dot bag and it's cute. What a perfect Valentine's Day present.

Whhhaaaat? I hadn't read anything about "Charms"...crap! It's cute too...and different, but I think I'm liking buttons the best right now. I'm getting Dooney fever now...must. stop.!!!

We're just now starting to think about where to stay for race weekend. Since we'll be at WDW the following month and are planning to stay for extra days after the Princess race, Tink weekend is going to be a quick, fairly splurge-free trip...yeah right, that never works out, does it? :rolleyes1 In Jan this year we tried out the Red Lion and got a pretty good rate. It was ok, I suppose...no big deal really, but I mean I wasn't really expecting luxury at $99 a night anyway. It served it's purpose adequately for sure. I always hear people mentioning on here the HoJo and a couple of different Best Western's that they get at good rates...does anyone have any opinions on which one of those are the best value? What you really like about them in particular?

They are fantastic! Can't wait to order the tassel tote. Hopefully the have he iPad case in WDW print because I don't think one of each is in the budget!

I am in! I cannot wait for this race! Just started running a couple of months ago and love having these Disney races to keep me motivated:) My first race ever was EEC earlier this month and I loved it. My teammate was not up to running, so we pretty much walked the whole thing and still finished within the 16-min mile requirements. I felt really good about that since I am doing the ToT 10-miler in September too and was worried about the pacing requirements since I run VERY slowly! LOL! Hope to get my C2C in 2013 with Tink and either the Princess or W&D.

I've never been to Disneyland (many, many trips to WDW tho!), so am wondering if y'all could give me some advice on hotels. Would love to stay on property, but not sure if the budget will allow. Thanks!

Ok so I really want to run this race so I took an important step today...I emailed my Dr. about my calf issues. And I'm going to go to Fleet Feet on Sunday to have them fit me. I'm wondering if perhaps the smaller store I went to fitted me incorrectly or perhaps I could just use some inserts or something. Anyway, took the first steps to less pain and more running! Super excited!

I'm super slow too (13 minute mile) so I'm happy to hear you were able to walk the whole thing within the 16 min mile requirement! I just started running back in February.

Hotels: From what I've read i think the Disney Hotels will be the closest to the start/finish if its like last year. Can't go wrong with Disney hotels really. Personally, I have a reservation at the Hojo because I love their beds, DD and my mom love the property and for the rate I got I can't justify spending more to stay closer. I'm sure I wont love the mile walk back afte the race but I'll survive. It will definitely help me wake up in the morning though! PM me or search the Disneland California board for more info on Hojo's Entertainment card rate which currently is available for that weekend if you're interested.

Stayed at BWPPI for Tink and loved it. It's right at the crosswalk on Harbor so there really isn't anywhere you have to walk. It's like 5 min from the room to the park. The room was really big as well, got a king room, and there was a small 1/2 wall next to the bed and there was a couch and coffee table on the other side. I reserved that one for next year w/ AAA and it's $89. There's also the BW Anaheim which is a few hotels down from PPI. Close walk as well, nice hotel, but the pool is really small. On the other side of DL is Stovall's. That one is perfect for Tink. When we turned onto Katella before we turned into the parking lot for the finish, Stovall's was right across the street. Stayed there for the DL 1/2 a few years back and was a nice hotel also, I really want to stay there for Tink b/c it's so close, but the price is still a little high. But if they lower it, I'm moving over there. I was at Hojo for the 1st time last month and it was really nice also. They offer Entertainment Rates and AP rates which makes them really popular. I got the AP King for $59 and the room was spacious also. That one is on Harbor, right before the freeway overpass to Ball Road. (We ran by it for Tink) It's about a 10-15 min walk from that hotel. I don't think you can go wrong w/ any of the hotels, it pretty much comes down to how much you want to pay, and whether you want to be closer to the start/finish or the parks.

Big difference b/w WDW and DL is that the hotels surround the parks so it's easy access no matter where you stay. The resort hotels will be b/w $2 & 300, so a lot of people just do the hotels on Harbor or Katella.

Make sure you get the right size shoe. The guys at my running store say that the shoe should be a size bigger than what you normally wear b/c your feet will swell when you run.
