Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Princesses, help me please cause I am freaking out!!! I got a new injury I've never had before and now I'm pretty disappointed :( I haven't run in over 2 weeks (maybe twice out of that) cause I had a cold and then a stomach virus. I did run on Sun with nothing but went out this morning and mile 2 started feeling plantar fascitis!! I've always had IT band issues but NEVER the bottom of my feet. I did wear a pair of heels last Sunday to church and my foot was killing me Monday so I threw them away and figuered it'd get better over time after I wore sneakers. It did until today, all of a sudden, what did I do?? how did this happen? Could it really be from just a pair of heels to activate it and now its gonna come and go?? Is it better to try and run through it? Wearing sneakers actually is making it hurt worse but I read barefoot is supposed to be worse for it, I don't know :( Right now my foot is in a bowl of ice, thats about all I do know, lol! What do you ladies recommend?

Corral C, I was right! I'm pretty happy with that. :goodvibes

Now just to find a yellow tank top...I'm thinking I might actually get one at Old Navy, and maybe get a technical shirt to go underneath. I don't think I'll want cotton right against my skin.

Awesome! I am 5090 so I can pretty much guarantee C too. :)

Is there a waiver for the ChEAR Squad? I signed my mom and dad up for the Bronze package as well as my kids. But my mom and dad won't be getting up to Disney till Saturday night. Anyone know if I can pick up their ChEAR Squad stuff?

Just called ESPN Wide World of Sports. There is NO waiver for the ChEAR Squad. The person particapating in the hm must have their own official race number pickup card and waiver form and a signed 2012 Disney’s Princess Half Marathon Weekend Race Retreat and ChEAR Squad Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form from the person they are picking up the packet for! in order to pick up a ChEAR Squad packet for them. Oy!! Hopefully that's helpful. :thumbsup2

oh I'm so sorry! How frustrating. I have plantar fascitis also. My foot Dr has me roll my foot on a frozen bottle of water several times a day. It allows the plantar facia to stretch as it reduces the swelling. It has worked wonders for me. I would not run on it until you are pain free. Don't give up.

Friday, Feb 24th Big W.I.S.H. meet at 7:00pm

It looks like the consensus of everyone's votes was for Grand Floridian.

Thank you for your feedback! I see Dagny also is planning a Saturday MEET at 4pm at DTD in front of the carousel and a potential Monday morning MEET on the Boardwalk Bakery, time not specified.

Please take pictures and post them!

Any cool souvenir ideas for older kids? I've already bought a bundle of stuff for my 3 y.o. to "bring back" from Disney, but not sure what to get my older boys, ages 8 & 10. We did the light saber thing last time we went. Anyone got any good ideas that won't break the bank?!:confused3

I might be able to make the Friday one! We are eating at 1900 for dinner around 5pm, so if we are still around by the time you guys are meeting up, I'll swing by! :) Where are we meeting? (I am sure there is a thread somewhere but please help the lazy!)

My ds likes the Vinylmations. They make a good collectible...I try to get ones that will be a little unique.

I'm not 100% sure if it's still there anymore, but if you go into adventureland in magic there's a booth that does little personalized leather keychains. back in high school when i went for grad night, a bunch of girls brought them back for their boyfriends and they were a pretty big hit.

I've been so busy lately and there are way too many pages for me to catch up with!!! LOL

I've been cleared by the orthopedist to (slowly) start training again and he said I can run the race!!!!:yay::banana::cool1::dance3::cheer2:

I've taken a look at the costumes! You ladies are too cool for school!! You're going to look great!!!

I feel edgy today so a run at the gym is just what I need. Unfortunately, I've gained a few pounds while I've been sedentary :rolleyes1. Green tea and fish for the next two weeks!!

Hope everyone is doing well! Keep the well wishes going for those nursing injuries! They work!!!:cheer2:

BTW, if you ladies want to order a spibelt now, you can use code usweekly10 for 15% off and it qualifies for free shipping. I paid $16.96 total for a belt. I'm sure it will be a lot more at the Expo.

I was recovering from PF last year when I ran the race....ok I ran/Walked and I finished.

The thing is you need to rest that foot as much as possible to promote healing IMO. Do the bear minimum to get ready for the race. Do you have time to go see a doctor?

Sit with your back against a wall and to the towel stretch on your foot...flex your foot and then put a towel on your foot to GENTLY pull it towards you. Google PF stretches to find what you need to be doing....and remember it shouldn't hurt when you stretch so be gentle about it.

Get some athletic tap and tape your foot when you run...its supports the fascia and arch. My podiatrist showed me how to tape mine, but I also found the method on a video when was researching. People swear by KT tape, I can't seem to get it on right or I sweat too much......

Walmart has this natural anti inflamatory cream, Blue Emu. Emu oils is a natural way to relieve inflamation and something about it is very penetrable to the skin esp down where its hard to reach your heal. This helps me some as well.

Good luck.

Amy, I would stay where you are. At least, that's what I did last year when I ended up pregnant and in Corral B. A friend had a hip fx and she walked it with me- we both stuck to our original corral, just started way to the right and stayed there most of the first 3 miles. We ran a little, but it wasn't what we expected to run when we signed up for the race for sure. Pretty sure most of Corral B had passed us by the first half mile- we had a little alone time together before C caught up to us!

It may have annoyed some runners, but we started farther in the back of the corral and did our best to stay out of the way. I didn't have anyone yell at me or give me an annoyed look, no one crashed into me or bumped me so I think we were "ok"--- and we were NOT the only ones slowing down in the early corral either. So you won't be alone. I think a lot of runners with injuries that crop up still go ahead and start in their assigned corral.

If you are really good with walking under the pace requirement and are not concerned about sweeping- then by all means move back! But if that's a concern then I would just start in C. Move over & stay out of the way and it should be fine. I'm in C and I won't have any problem if you walk in my corral! ;)

TOTALLY AGREE, last year I started out in B with an earned 10k time and then found myself injured one month out.....so I started in B, and just tried to be courteous. Since I run walk, I got in the habit of holding my my hand for the transition to walk and move over. Had 3 people thank me as they ran by! Start where you are placed and just go from there.

Oh and I finished in 3:29....which actually not too bad considering how I was feeling and my breaks for biofreeze, stretching, 2 photos and one potty stop at MK! Hey, with so many people passing me, its like I shared the experience with just about everyone. :thumbsup2

I submitted a 10K time of 1:06 and I am in corral E. Does that sound right??? I submitted it in December long after I registered and I am thinking that they did not take it into account when I was placed.

Even for those who are wearing headphones, give a shout anyway. I wear headphones, but I keep the volume low specifically so I can hear those warning shouts.

I agree. Last year I had one bud in and one out. I ran the whole race that way and didn't turn the music on until about 9.5 miles. So even though I may look like I am listening to music I may not be.

Ugh I really need to go for a run. I haven't ran since Tinker Bell over a week ago. I think I may do some speed work on the tread today since I am unmotivated to go outside and run. I hope I can get my act together soon.

The website said you had to submit it before Dec. 1 if doing it by email so I would just bring the proof with you to the expo.

Thank you Saysay and spottedprincess for your feedback! I've been iceing it all day so far but I just can't imagine from wearing one pair of shoes for 2 hours I would have all this 1 week later :( I am scheduled to go for a 10 miler on Thursday, so how do I know if I should go or not? My dad has the boots he said and is going to let me borrow them to sleep in so I'm hoping that will help a little. More stretching and iceing for now ;)

Taryn, you should definately be able to get moved up to B. My 10K was 3 minutes slower. I'm sue with all that high altitude training you've been doing you will be flying by us! I'll meet you at B!!
