Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

Hi there!!
I'm new to the boards but I've been stalking since the first thread. My mom, boyfriend and I are all running the princess half and I really couldn't be more excited.
This is my mom and my first half and my boyfriend's second.
My bib # is 12442
Mom's # is 12441
Mike's # 4722

I'm doing my last long run before the race tomorrow! 13 miles bright and early. I seriously can't wait!

This is so exciting!

I am doing an extreme 5K tomorrow. It is called the snow dash and we just got 20+ inches of new snow. Should be interesting... :rotfl:

I emailed rundisney- she confirmed my bib number is in corral C. YAHOOO!

And she said there are corrals A-H this year. Big race--- or maybe they are making the corrals smaller. But my guess is more people.
What email did you use for runDisney? Did you just give them your bib number and ask for your corral number? Or did they do it by name? We submitted a 10K time of 1:04 and I was really hoping for corral B, but our bib numbers are for the team. (I also want to figure out how far away we are from our friend who didn't have a time to submit and is 87xx.) any help is appreciated.

I'm confused! My bib # is 3892. Mountaineer & I ran the same 10K and finished within 2 seconds of each other. Her bib # is 5167. Would 2 seconds make that much of a difference?

You all keep talking about the time you submitted....but what did you put as your anticipated finish time? Just wondering if that makes a difference?

I was wondering why there were suddenly so many new messages! Woo hoo! I got a bib number in the 3000s. When I originally registered I put the lowest time I could at the time (2:46) since i had never run longer than a 5k race. In November I submitted a 10k time of 1:02. I assume they adjusted my expected finish time.

I've got #6467. I don't know where this puts me, but I'm hoping at least C. I submitted my Tink Half time of 2:30.

Oh, and BTW, there were TOTALLY men in Corral B (where I was for Tink). If memory serves, there was some in A as well. There was at least one - Sean Astin. ;)
My bad.:goodvibes I knew about the one in A, but I had heard everyone else was bumped back to C.

Oh, no worries. I was actually quite surprised because I expected there to be none. :) Unless he was running on someone else's bib.... :confused3

Last year Ethan Zohn (sp?) started in the first corral as well, but since he was their celeb running the race he was probably the only exception.

I'm going to attempt to put together my costume today. I had some princess Tiana inspiration last night and I don't think it will involve too much craftiness. I'll post pictures if it turns out okay!

It was posted on the FB page that anyone who signed up as a team has a bib # in the 20,000's, so that could clear up a little confusion on why someone with such a high number might be in an earlier corral. For those running as a team, you can either contact RunDisney or just wait for the Expo to see your corral placement. Also, I think it's realistic that people who finish within minutes of each other COULD have bib numbers 2,000 apart - think of all the people running this race from all over and realize that within 2 minutes there could be thousands of people with times in between. Does that make sense?

Got 5 in this morning, but with a concern. The run itself was great - no pain, just a tiny bit of tightness that I was able to loosen up while running when I realized I was losing form. However - last weekend's 11 miler caused me to have some hip pain - no big deal, b/c, well, it was 11 miles and I was trying to focus more on using hips and quads instead of knees and calves. It went away after a few days. For some reason, after sitting on the floor playing a game with my DS last night, my hip totally tightened up and hurt. It was doing the same thing this morning - right where the top of the thigh bone is. (School House Rock, terminology, I know - I can never remember the names of the various leg bones). It didn't bother me when I ran, but I sure felt it when I stopped!! I'm a preschool teacher, so I spend 8 hours a week on the floor and crouching down to 2y.o. level - it's not like my body is not used to that. Am hoping that there's no weird tear or strain going on!

So this is probably going to be super naive, but where is everyone finding their bib numbers?

Does anyone know where I can print off the Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form???

From RunDisney:
"If you are not able to attend Packet Pick-Up, the individual picking up on your behalf must provide the following items as well as his/her Photo ID:
A copy of the participant’s Photo ID
Packet Pick-Up Authorization Form (Available approximately one month before the start of the event)
Event waiver signed by the participant (Waivers will be available approximately one month before the start of the event)"

Yep I'm going to need this link too!

Anyone doing the family 5k run, the kids races and the princess half-marathon run? Is this overkill? :rotfl:

I just put this link on the bib # thread as well for future reference...

Your bib number will be on the waiver form once you enter your info. They emailed these out last year on Feb 10th.

I would LOVE to do the 5k, but with my foot issues....I am resting up before the race....OK< just going to some parks and taking it easy, no commando!

Not at all, you'll just have an extra fun weekend!

If anyone is interested, I just posted all my pictures from the marathon last month on my blog. I posted my 1/2 pictures a few weeks ago there too. The link is in my signature!

Bib # 5182 for this race, even though my submitted time was the same for the Princess 1/2 and the Tinkerbell 1/2. I was Bib 3346 and corral B for Tinkerbell. So I guess corral C?

I'm 5191 :)

I just had a really strange interaction at a local running store that really rubbed me in the wrong way. I realized last week that I don't think I'll be able to wait until after the Princess to get new shoes. I'm wearing down the inside heels a lot more than I ever thought!

That being said, I went to see if I could get fitted to see what kind of shoes might help this problem. As I walked into the store, I felt like I was interrupting the employee's conversation with someone else. She came over to me and gave me a "once-over". I felt really uncomfortable. I said I was just looking around and asked if I could get fitted, and she responded "when you're ready to buy, we'll fit you". Running shoes are expensive, at least for me they are. I want to be able to think about the options instead of buying on the spot! Needless to say...I need to find another running store. :(
