Official 2012 Princess 1/2 marathon thread part 2

I saw oodles of people (that probably translates into at least 100 people) wearing the race shirts in the WDW Half Marathon and the Wine & Dine Halloween 5K at Animal Kingdom. If you do wear your race shirt with the gold skirt, you definitely won't be alone in that. :)

I did last year!!!!

So here's the thing. All this race outfit talk had me looking for a shirt to match my gold skirt. Not finding much. I realized that the thing that will go best with that skirt is the race shirt! I know it's lame to wear the race shirt to the race itself...but I'm thinking about it. Opinions???

i wouldn't. not only is it bad luck to wear the shirt before you finish the race, but the shirt is "new" and what's the golden rule of race day? nothing new on race day! the last thing you want is something rubbing you the wrong way for 13.1 miles. i also find the disney shirts to be pretty poor quality. i'll wear them when it's in the 50s and it's so delicious out it doesn't matter what you wear, or to the gym, but that's about it. i would stick to what you know!

I was in DC for work, and I did my 12 miles around the mall and monuments in DC. It was a gorgeous day and I got about 25 photos along the way, which I posted on runkeeper: http://runkeeper.com/user/mamacate/activity/68541662 Fun!

Wow Cate!
I didnt' realize that you could post photos on Runkeeper.
That's awesome.
We'll be heading to WA DC for a family trip during spring break. And I'm sure I'll be doing some runs there.
Are there instructions on Runkeeper on how to do the pictures?

I ran 5 x 800 intervals on the treadmill last night.
That's my first run since the Tinkerbell.
Now I'm ramping up my training again, getting ready for the Princess and my Coast to Coast medal!
See you all there!

There were tons of people running in their race shirts marathon weekend. Disney's shirts are pretty comfy, so as long as you have the right size I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Wear whatever you would like. If you wear the race shirt, there is a risk that you don't like the fit. It depends on what's important to you, and taking a risk is ok too!

I love seing what everyone is wearing at the Disney races! It is a great "people watching" time.

If you want to get a short sleeve tech shirt that's inexpensive, try Kohl's. Their tek gear shirts are usually on sale, and they have around 5 colors right now. My friends and I got a purple shirt from this line and have ordered silver sparkle skirts.

Hope everyone is doing well! For those who are ill or experiencing physical issues, hang in there!!!

For those of you who did the Tink what are your training plans? I have not ran again yet. I had very sore calves Monday and Tuesday and am almost back to normal today. I plan to do a short (2 to 3 miles) on Sat and then get back into my training plan. Two 45 minute weekday runs with a long run on Sat. I am thinking 10 next Sat and then 5 or 6 the week after and that would bring me up to the Princess. I was originally planning on doing 13 next week, but I wasn't planning on being as sore as I was.

Yesterday was my first run since Tinkerbell.
I did intervals of 5 x 800.
The plan I follow calls for various runs during the week, but for the next 3weekends:
15K race this Sunday - there's not a race around, so I will just run 9 miles
5 mile pace on Sat (might do a Valentine race for this one, but I'll need to add 2 miles since it's a 5K) & 2 hour run on Sunday
3 mile pace on Sat (there is a race I'll do for this one) & 2 hour run on Sunday

See you all at the Princess :cheer2:

So how does bib number relate to corral number? I mean I know that a smaller number is a sooner/higher corral but how do you know where the cut-offs are?

I'm all excited but don't know why, LOL. :woohoo:

so exciting but not really sure what the bib numbers mean - can someone post the explanation again. I know the higher the number the further back but approximently how many per corral.
Thanks.

Oh please, oh please..........
Will someone post the link to the wavers?
I can't find it on the Princess site.
Thanks!!:cool1:

Numbers do have to do with corral placement, but I don't know the break down. It appears that those who registered as a team, numbers begin in 20000's. The low, low numbers i.e. 1,2,3, go to the elite runner with #1 usually going to first place finisher from last year. I was # 3702 last year and in corral B.

I was 503 for Tinkerbell and corral A.
My sisters were a team and we didn't know what corral they were in until we picked up their wavers. They ended up being in C.

well, I had a screen that said to type in my last name birthdate and where I was staying and then the waiver came up - Hope that helps.

Yah! I just figured it out.
I didn't realize you had to go to the verification screen first.
I'm #711 which will probably be in corral A.

Can't wait to see everyone's numbers.
Good luck to us all!

Argh-- so we won't know corral's from bib numbers for 2-person teams? I was hoping it just followed with 2xxxx where the last 4 digits told you the corral or lined up with the non-team numbers.

Our team: 20379 and 20380 (hoping for corral b)
Additional friend 8701 (best she can get is corral c I assume because she didn't have a time to submit, so we put in 2:45)

Plus, I noticed they list the date for 2013 Marathon weekend and I am SO BUMMED that they pushed it back one week! We are leaving on a cruise Jan 5, and I was totally planning to run the half the morning before we embarked. :( Maybe it is a typo, because the online resort rates are still keyed to the weekend of Jan 5 as the Marathon weekend rates (not the weekend of Jan 12). Anyone else have any inside info to clear this up??

I'm 9152. I was hoping for anything at least two corrals from the end...how many corrals are there?
