It's central florida - you don't get much flatter than that. There are a few underpasses that some say are the "hills" but if you train anywhere that's hilly, you find them much of anything.
The further back you are, the more people tend to have fun with the race, so I would definitely bring proof of time to get you in the appropriate corral like others have said. When I ran it two years ago, I was bumped back to B so I could start with my dad. I was a little nervous, but it ended up being pretty open the whole race. There is such a huge range of pace in the front two corrals (corral is 2:10 or faster, and then B is 2:11-2:30 or something along those lines) that people end up being so spread out. I think the boys are now being bumped back to c nowadays, so c might end up being the same way too.
Also don't forget to keep the weather in mind, especially coming from a colder climate. If it ends up being 60+ at the start, you will most likely have to scale back your pace. A lot of the race is on highways, so there's a whole lot of shade.
My personal plan would be if the weather was good, race the heck out of the course and go for a PR. But if it was warm, I would probably just take pictures and have fun, since a PR wouldn't be happening anyways.
Good luck!
I'm actually in Corral F (just checked the corral numbers again, I got my corrals mixed up). Yeah not to fast but I am looking to hopefully run around 3:00 half or even run sub that if I get lucky. Which is a good 20 to 30 minutes off of my normal pace but I have progressively getting faster in training (training a minute behind predicted pace of 14:00 min mile) plus with the huge elevation change playing in my favor (flying in from Denver here) I think its highly probable.
I am a bit notorious about character stops in previous Disney races (added a little too much time doing Tinkerbell almost got pulled off course but managed to make up time easily in the stretch between Disneyland and CA). So I'm making a policy of only stopping unless I've never had a picture with them before (and considering this is my third Disney race, there's a fairly long list of who I've had pictures with, I have had a picture with pretty much every major princess except Mulan and Pochohantas (who was on course at Tinkerbell but I couldnt stop for), and only if I really want a photo with them (meaning Cinderella characters) and only if the line's really short. Which may happen with me be in the back corrals. When I did WDW last month the lines were nonexistent except for usually one girl in front of me who would stop. I would pretty much run up get the photo then run off. Since I'm projecting a lot faster pace than at WDW I don't think that will happen this time around.
I actually will be running in semi costume. Something that makes it say that I am not just in running gear but not quiet a full out costume either. A blue sparkling top (not tech shirt but I'll deal with it) and maybe a blue skirt or some sort of blue bottom if I can get something at the expo. Going to the mall tomorrow to see if I see anything light weight that I like for the costume.
Thanks for the advice from both of you.
Just another quick question do they normally sell multi color bras at the expo. The top I have is currently a tie back, I could alter it but that may take a while so I was just thinking of seeing if I could get a similarly colored bra to wear under it.
