Official 2011 Wine & Dine Half and Relay Thread

I'm not sure if this is where I should post, but we are coming this weekend to watch my Niece run in the half marathon. We purchased 4 tickets to the Friends and Family party and unforunately my DH & DS will not be able to come to Florida now. If anyone needs two tickets to the F&W party please PM me. Negotiable! Thanks and see you there!

Awww that sounds like fun!! I used to be a seasonal CM custodian myself!! I worked at the Studios :) It is definitely hard work, kudos to your son! And now you'll get some awesome discounts with him!

He was down on the college program years ago and has been able to keep up his seasonal status. Disney just made that a lot harder.

He swore in the past he would never work a food and wine shift again. They are the worst. But.. here he is working two in thirty hours... I'm pretty sure running the half is eaiser.

I did the CP in 2006, kept my seasonal status for a year or two, then became a campus rep to keep the benefits, but I finished college a couple years ago. Luckily I am still good friends with a couple people that still work there (one at Epcot). I only did a few special events at the Studios, but they were definitely tough, especially the late night ones. Good luck to him and you both!!

Sure! I should clarify that by "earlier corral" I really meant Corral C-ish, as opposed to Corral E ;)

I put down a time of 2:46, which doesn't require proof (and at the time, I was training hard and this was very easily feasible). I also signed up for the race early. Corral A definitely requires proof of time, Corral B probably does as well - but it looks like for C and later, it was probably based on a combination of when you signed up for the race and if you put down a time at all. I've heard in the past that if you don't put down a time, or if you put down a time under 2:45 but never put proof, you get put in the back. Who knows? But to provide possible backup to this theory, my waiver number is 4765, my dad (who signed up at the same time as me with the same time information) is 4764, and my husband (who signed up 4 months later than me with the same timing information but who actually will finish in 2:45) is 7917.

We'll probably end up doing it in his corral anyway so we can all stick together. Plus now that I know for sure that I'm walking the whole thing, I don't want to be in other people's way - not that I wouldn't be in later corrals too, since obviously there are runners in those corrals as well!

Thanks so much for explaining... I hadn't really thought about the signing up early being a factor, that's awesome! Must remember to sign-up early for all future races... LOL

OK, Time to stop obsessing about corrals!

I had a great 4 mile easy walk tonight... it warmed up a bit, 70 degrees with 87% humidity so I feel like its slightly closer to approximating race conditions. No worrying now, the training is either in there or its not. Can't wait til race night!!!

I hope everyone has a great, easy week and safe travels!

Has anyone been to Kona Cafe? How is it?

I've only been for breakfast, but I love it. Probably my favorite breakfast place on property. That might also be because it's one of the few places that has good (non-Nescafe) coffee.

I originally went because I wanted to try the famed Tonga Toast, but I got too distracted by everything in the Big Kahuna, and ever since then I've always ordered the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes. Here's the menu so you can know what I'm talking about:

If you are asking in relation to lunch or dinner there, then I'm sorry!

I've been a couple of times for dinner...been a few years since the last time, but I do remember enjoying it both times. I wanna say I had a caramel apple martini there one time and it was really good...not sure if it's still on the menu there though.

Kona cafe I think is one of the more underrated places, I enjoy going there and prices arent too horribly expensive. I have been a few times the past year. I had a change in plans and am now doing mama melroses at 2:30 on saturday, which will give me time to get home, take a short nap and be at epcot by 7.

I got reservations there for 10am for breakfast Saturday morning. Thinking of filling up there and skip out lunch before the race.

Weather forecast:

Not sure about how this looks to the non-Southerners out there, but this looks pretty dang good to me! Low of 63 the night of the race? Woohoo! Even highs that don't go above 90 during the day will be a lovely change. Heck, 63 might actually be chilly...hopefully the rain forecast stays true as well!

Oh my....63? I might need to pack tights and gloves! ;) 63 sounds GLORIOUS!

:cool1: The weather forecast looks great to me! I've been expecting the start would be low to mid 80's so every degree below that helps!

Just popping in from the princess half thread to wish you guys a great race this weekend. I hope your awesome weather forecast holds true! :thumbsup2

I'm sure you're fine. The last week before a race every little pain makes me start to worry... This week for me it's a hamstring... I NEVER have hamstring problems.. so why now?
I'm with you! I rarely have calf problems, but they're acting up. And I haven't had foot problems in a year, and now they're teasing me - almost wondering if it's in my head. :upsidedow

That weather would be great! We'll see...

All packed tonight - putting in a day of work and flying down tomorrow night.

Oh, that stinks. I have been having foot/calf problems for a little while now. I seem to just be replacing one injury with another! The stick and ice packs have become my best friend.

Have a safe trip.:goodvibes

I printed the boarding passes and the waivers. Now I just have to pack. We leave in the morning.:goodvibes

I'll join the random mystery pain group....

Did a easy 6.5 mile run last Monday and my back spasmed upon completion, spent the past week and a half in various therapies to where it felt good enough last night to test with a very light 2 mile run last night...so far so good!!!

Good luck everyone, safe travels
