Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

Apparently I am most concerned with clean bathrooms and being on time. I had a dream I was with my friends and we were running late. Then we we got to the race all the potties were GROSS. I had to go but so dirty and icky I couldn't bear it. Oh the things we dream about.....

Went for a 4 mile run last night and surprised myself but doing the entire thing in under 14 min miles (yes, this is a first for me). I actually felt awesome when i got home and super excited for the race! I was having a "i can't do this" day before I went to run and went to bed last night thing - hey, i actually have a chance at this thing!

It really is great to hear everyone's stories... I appreciate the willingness to open up to people who you really don't know, but believe me these stories help so many of us who feel like we are in this alone. I come from a family of overweight inactive individuals and I just am tired of being sick and tired. I want to be the wife and mother my kids and husband deserve. I have come to enjoy my "me" time and love the perks of losing some of this nasty weight!

Thank you for being there for me over the last several months.... from my beginner questions, during my stress fracture and just the everyday pick me up i get from reading everyones postings!:grouphug:

I'm having a lot of difficulty with the site. I registered myself and three others to get notifications:

Person 1: got the e-mail, got the code, confirmed, and done.
Person 2: got the e-mail, got the code, site accepted it and showed confirmed, but now keepts reverting back to pending.
Person 3 (me): got the e-mail, got the code, confirmed, and when I go back, I've disappeared entirely.
Person 4: got the e-mail, but doesn't display at all in the summary of trackers so can't enter the code.

I've e-mails the support e-mail but based on how long it took them to help me before Christmas, I'm sure I won't hear back for a while. Anyone else having difficulties?

NO issues for me so far, but I'm waiting for some fam to confirm the text.

Fourth outdoor run in a row today!!! It is almost making the past few weeks' winter storms a distant memory! Well, there is the residual ice and snow banks that are taller than me...but still!

Thanks again for all of the great stories - you girls are all such an inspiration!

Not to worry about gross potties...they are dark at that hour in the morning, as in you can't see a thing in there:rotfl2:

I'm trying to order a spibelt (which may or may not arrive in time) and I'm not sure which one to get, but I remembered a few of you Princesses have experience with them.

It's really a toss up between the original one, the one with a pocket on each side, and the energy one. For anyone using one now, how did you decide? I saw you can also get a water bottle attachment but from the picture I can't figure out how it attaches in a way that would allow you to use the bottle.

If you want to order before the expo, try ordering from www.runningwarehouse.com. They have free 2 day shipping and you get 15% off with the WISHD discount code!

Thanks for the suggestions of getting them at the expo. I'd read not to do anything new on race day including belts so I figured I should get it before and do some test runs with it.

Kat: Did you have any issues with not having trained with it prior to running the Princess in it last year?

According to the race program, SPIbelt will be at the expo, so you could wait until you get there to decide which one you want (plus you won't be worrying if it will get there in time). I'm planning to look at them at the expo and decide if I want one as well. I just don't want to feel like a pack mule during the race...

If you don't use it, how are you planning to bring all your items with you (bottle, fuel, camera, etc.)?

Thanks for the idea! I checked it out but sadly shipping will cost me 29-35$ if I want it before the 25th (and 7.50 if I'm willing to risk it arriving on the 24th). I guess that site is more geared to the American WiSHers. :confused3 Sad, cause they hade some good deals and variety on products (plus they include the tabbies for the race numbers).

The dreams are crazy aren't they!!! Ha Ha Ha

I dreamt I was waiting in my corral and freezing in the dark! It was raining too! My husband said I was talking out loud! :lmao:lol I have had dreams in the past about dirty bathrooms too! :scared:

I am having trouble sleeping at night and worrying too about the race/reservations/tickets etc. I always get that way when something big is about to happen in my life. The worries always creep in at night, when I am tired. During the day, I'm fine!:confused3

I need a working magic wand to get a good nights sleep!:wizard:pixiedust: lol

Soon, we will all be in sunny warm Florida, living it up!:beach:::MinnieMo:tinker:

With all the talk of the Spibelt, I just want to throw this out there...

I started with a Spibelt but found that when I had both my iPhone and camera in it it would bounce, horribly.

Then I got a Fuelbelt but found that because it wasn't stretchy it would slide up onto my waist (I prefer to wear my belts low, right on my hips).

Finally, at last month's Marathon Weekend I saw the Double Pouch iFitness Belt. It had been recommended here on the board by marathonmommy(Laura) so I checked it out. I tried it on and it felt great. The price was lower there at the Expo than online, so I decided to give it a go. I wore it for the half and LOVED it. I had my iPhone and my room key, id, cash on one side, and my camera on the other. I've used it multiple times since then for my training runs here at home and I highly recommend it!! It is so much better than the Spibelt or Fuelbelt! You can see it here on their website, but they will be at the Princess Expo so I would buy it then, for cheaper!

I love my Spibelt. I bought it last year for the Princess and have used it ever since. I still haven't fully unpacked from marathon weekend and I'm not really sure where it is. I am 90% certain that it came home with me, but I am also willing to get another one at the expo.

I leave for WDW in 10 days!!! (I will actually be collecting my luggage at this time in 10 days)

I have a single-pouch spibelt (love) and a double pouch knockoff I bought at the WDW marathon weeend expo. I'm also fond of the latter, but the two pouches are a bit small, IMO. I did wear it under my shirt the entire time we were at Disney (I didn't run, was chEAR squad only) to carry my phone and wallet while we were at the parks, but I found the second pocket really wasn't big enough to do more than hold my room key and lip balm.

So from a very minimlaist POV, double pouch is great. My spibelt seems to hold more, though. Neither of them ride up on me or chafe.

I will take both to Disney this time. When I run, I plan to take only the bare minimum: ID, room key, lip blam, a credit card.

Haven't figured out if I'm goign to try to run with my camera yet.....

I'm also not planning to run with a water bottle--although I have a handheld one (strap over the back of the hand) that I carry for training runs. I think the water stations should provide me enough hydration on race day.

I dreamed Hubby and I were about to miss packet pickup becuase we weren't watching the time and were sightseeing. I was FRANTIC in the dream but couldn't seem to convince Hubby of the need to hurry.

I didn't realize you weren't in the states. Could you get one at the expo and wear it on a test run at your resort before the race? That would probably be the cheapest option if you want it for the race, and want to test it out first.

I would go ahead and order the one online that you like, with the cheaper shipping, and cross your fingers. If it arrives, great! If not, then you can look for one at the Expo, and if you end up finding one there that you like, you can always ship the other one back when you get home from the trip.

Is anyone planning on getting "princessy" for the Expo? I think I'm coming to terms with deciding against wearing my tutu for the run...I just don't think it's going to de-puff the way I was hoping, so I'll probably be in my pink Team Sparkle skirt for the run...but I love my tutu...so was thinking about just throwing it on over some jeans for a while when I go out to the Expo :rotfl: My sweet BF said "yeah, that would be fun." He's a good sport because I know what he was really thinking... hahahaha! So just wondering if anyone else was doing anything fun for the Expo?

Kat: Did you have any issues with not having trained with it prior to running the Princess in it last year?

No, I didn't. Then again, back then I had no idea I was supposed to road test stuff before using it in a race!

Honestly, getting it the day you leave or getting it the day of the expo, may not make any difference anyhow unless you can fit a run in that day.

I train in the summers with a fuel belt because my running club requires us to carry water, but I hate it and would only wear it in a race where I was not confident in the water stops. WDW races are very well run and slow-runner-friendly, so I am not woried.

I have to take a sip, from my own water bottle, every half mile. Usually, the free drinks are every mile (I tend to drink a little too much from those cups anyway). I have allergies(stuffy nose) and asthma. My mouth gets dried out easily, even if I am perfectly hydrated.

If you don't use it, how are you planning to bring all your items with you (bottle, fuel, camera, etc.)?

I'm not going to carry a bottle because there are 9 water stops according to the map, so that takes care of one thing. The camera I'm going to carry in my hand. I usually carry a handheld bottle on my long runs, so I'm used to having something in my hand. My 2 big problems are fuel and my phone. The fuel (2 gu gels) I can probably stick inside the waistband of my shorts and be okay. I don't really want to have to carry my phone, but I was going to use it to tell my mom when I was getting close to MK so she could get to a good spot to see me. I've got her signed up for runner tracking, but I've heard it's spotty, so it's a little bit of a conundrum:confused3. Everything else I can live without for 3 hours. I'm already going to have the wings and tutu, so I'd love to go without a pack, but we'll see how I feel at the expo.

As far as "Nothing new on race day" I guess I have too much of a c'est la vie attitude. I figure if it isn't comfortable, it's only 3 hours, and if I get a blister, I have a battle scar I can talk about. Now, I would never wear a brand new pair of shoes on race day, but waist pack, headband, tutu, those are items that I really don't think will make that much of a difference. But that's just me, your mileage may vary ;).
