Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

I believe we need to be in corral 30 mins before, can anyone confirm that ??????????

The program said that everyone needs to be in their corrals by 5:00am and that it takes 20 mintues to walk from the Family Reunion area (I guess that's near parking / drop off) to the start line.

Here's what's gettin' me down as we get closer - the thought of rain! I can handle cold; I've proved that to myself when I was out running in below freezing temps. I HATE running in the rain! So let's just all send prayers / good thoughts/ juju that it will be typical FL and have a BRIEF rain shower in the AFTERNOON. :beach:

I did my first-ever treadmill training run today! I only had 4 miles so I didn't get too bored, but I sure can't imagine doing a long run on there...YUCK! It got really cold here today and I probably could have handled the temp, but the wind was just ridiculous so when I saw the trees bending the way they were before I left work, I decided it was time to give the treadmill a shot rather than head out to the park. It was alot easier to run on that than it is to run on solid ground, I'll say that! To compensate, I ran at a pace faster than what I normally would, didn't take any walk breaks and threw in some inclines. I'll have to get with my trainer tomorrow to see if that was enough to make it a decent substitute because it looks like I might have to do this again on Thursday if the forecast is correct. Can anyone give any advice on how far you bump up your speed/pace and inclines on the treadmill to make it a fair substitution for running outside? We're down to the wire now and I sure don't want to set myself back!

My DH got called back to work after being laid off for 2 months.
Great news BUT now he can't come with - SO - I've been training for several months, I have my resort booked, I'm meeting my friends in Disney to run with them BUT now I have to get last minute air fair. :headache: It is almost $500 round trip. I'm freaking out!!!

Hi Princesses!

Got my 12.9 miles in on Saturday, but the came down with a virus that night. Fortunately, it was one of those hard and fast kind of viruses. I'm going to try and do a light jog on the treadmill tomorrow. Sorry to all who are battling the winter viruses/colds! :grouphug: Hopefully this means we will all be extremely healthy for race day.

question - where is the outfit thread that someone referenced earlier?

Only 26 more days!:cheer2:

That is wonderful news! My DH was out of work for 6 months so I know that stress. Good luck with the airfare... just remember - you are worth it!

My Minnie Mouse skirt arrived today!! tomorrow try on the entire outfit. Hope it works... I have been baby sitting for my grand daughters for the past 4 days, so haven't gotten any training in. Will try to start back tomorrow. I said "try" because it sure is easy to get out of the groove. Maybe Thursday, instead...... I'm just looking at this as a way of resting my body before the last big push. At least that is what I am telling myself! I did a 9 mile walk/run before I stopped, so I know that I can do it. It's just getting out there and going! Definitely on Thursday (maybe).

Pray for no snow this weekend, fellow princesses! We need to get those long runs in outside...I fear the dread mill!

I've given up on hoping for no snow. we just got pounded today with 20 inches of snow and the forecast just said we're getting more Fri night and again on Monday. I'm so sick of this weather and snow, it's unbelievable!

Today is a big day for me. I'm having a minor surgical procedure on my back. There is a very good possibility that this will fix the pain that I've had for 5 years. I'm so excited that I'm crying. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I (hopefully) celebrate my freedom from debilitating pain!!!:woohoo:

My physical therapist recommends just an incline of 1 so I'm sure you did enough to compensate. That being said, I do all of my training on the treadmill and I always have a much faster pace in races (like 2 min faster). Don't know if its the adrenaline or the fact that I am with other people (I tend to pick a pacer that I won't let get away or even better beat - not competative or anything). You'll do great.

Just said a little prayer for you. Please keep us in the loop. I cannot imagine having surgery this close to race day.

The run went well! I managed 13!! I am so glad. I have proven to myself that I can finish this--barring a lightning strike or other twist strange twist!

The last mile was tough, physically but not mentally. I was tired but not in pain and I was upbeat and sure I'd be able to make it. I did have to walk half of one run interval in the last 3/4 mile, but I am a-okay with that. Hubby said I looked good running in, which I was glad to hear; I was afraid I was half-doubled over and shuffling more than jogging.

It was not easy, but I did it!! party: And I know I can do it again in a few weeks.

Hang in there, Princesses. We got this!

Just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are to me. I log on everyday wondering what wonderful, hopeful, thoughtful, insightful things will be instore for me and there you are cheering yourself and all of us on with your kind words, your mantras, your quotes, your successes and your learning moments. Thank you. :flower3:

Funny....I am much slower on the treadmill than outside and find it much more difficult to run! I have to "bump it down" at a slower pace. Go figure...

GAH!!! the ice outside is an inch thick! i had to slide down our front stairs on my bus in order to get the dog out this morning. definitely won't be able to run outside today. i can barely walk outside! this suuuuuucks!!!!!

No running outside around here for awhile either. We got 18 inches of snow yesterday, and it looks like more is coming this weekend or early next week! I love my snow days, but I also miss running outside :sad1:

I got back on the treadmill last night. I was so nervous about my shins because I haven't recieved the compression sleeves yet but it actually went okay. I had a little bit of tightness in the shin and calf but no pain. I only did just over 2 miles at my 4:1 intervals because I don't want to overdue again. I should get the compression sleeves tomorrow so I will have them for the nine miles on Sunday.
I just can't believe how quickly the big day is approaching!! I am looking forward to time with my friends that weekend and my mom. No matter what, I am so excited at the change in my physical health. A year ago, I could barely make it around the block. Now I tell my dh, "Don't worry, I only have 4 miles to get in tonight." :cool1:
Who would of thought that would ever come out of my mouth?!?!?!

I feel the same way! I haven't lost the weight that I wanted too, but I am in such better shape.

We had a nice day last week so we went outside to play b-ball and I was able to keep up with my boys and not get winded.

We got over 12 inches of snow (with huge drifts) and my DH was worried about driving to work and getting high centered in his truck. I told him that if it were me that I wouldn't be worried because I could jog home from wherever I got stuck. :woohoo:

KEEP RUNNING!

Merci
