Official 2011 Princess Half Thread Part II!!!

i know what you mean betsy! it wasn't too "girly" of a race or weekend. it was very empowering. i felt pumped up pretty much the whole time!

*****************

anyone buying any of the race pictures?? i want the picture of me running in front of epcot and the one of me holding my medal at the end. but it is SO expensive!!! $40 just for the digital pic?? gah!

It was such an amazing experience...agree VERY empowering. I learned so much about myself though this whole experience and the race. The support from the volunteers and disney employees was amazing! The spectators were also great for the most part, though at one point on Main street I felt like how an animal feels in a zoo.

Photos...well
I think I am just buying them all since I want 3, its cheaper to do the package and get all the downloads. I don't NEED the videos and they aren't great, but I do love seeing myself jog to minnie and high five her, daisy and donald before the finish. Just stamp SUCKER on my head....the pic of me at the castle is everything I wanted and LOVE the huge smile on my face at the finish!

On the topic of potty breaks, was anyone else lucky enough to have mother natures monthly gift bestowed upon them for the race? I couldn't believe it, same thing happened to me for the January Half. I had NO choice but to stop in a bathroom once. That added a couple minutes to my time.

By the way, if you want a nice bathroom during the race use the one by Pinnocchios in Fantasyland. I was the only one in there! :) Only downside is it's a bit further off the course. I think its worth it though. My goal this race was to finish in under 2:30 and my time was 2:28:50. So it would have been around 2:26/7 without my stop.

Sometimes I hate mother nature! I was supposed to get my monthly gift last Tues. It never came. that is until I stopped to used the bathroom at mile 6 and guess who showed up? You guess it- right during the race. I had to run to the next emergency tent like around mile 7 or so to get a tampon then another trip to the bathroom. My goal was to finish the race in 2 hours, but thanks to mother nature and two bathroom visits I finished in 2hrs 7 min.

Oh and it gets better. When I returned to my room I flopped on my bed. when i lifted my head I see the other part of my d-tag lying there. I looked at my shoe and realized to my horror I put the wrong part of the timing tag on my shoe:scared1: I was never timed!!! I have an email in to run disney to see if they can use photos to give me an official time. keep your fingers crossed for me.

The race was amazing! It was my first half and it was so much fun.

I'm wondering if anyone else's timing chip didn't work though? My chip registered a 5K time and then nothing else. I am really bummed as I want the coast to coast medal and was planning to use my time to get in a timed corral....Any idea who to call to see what they can do for me?

Ouch! I hope they figure that out for you! It totally sucks when little timing things can cause issues. But I bet you will never make that mistake again!

Julie!
So glad to hear your race pictures were great! I thought of you without a camera often during the race. I'm so glad it was great. I bought all the pictures the first year I ran too. Some were better than others but there were several that I loved and I would be sad not to have them.

This was a hard race for me. I was diagnosed with bronchitis on Friday at a medical clinic in Orlando while my family did Epcot & an afternoon of swimming by the pool. I was just so run down from coughing even before I started on Sunday. But...I did finish and it was awesome. Magical, actually.

I am so thankful for Julie and the other girls who let me tag along that morning from the Swan...it definitely helped get me out of my funk and excited! ;)

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!!

If anyone wants pictures just for your computer, you can do it without buying the download. Being up the picture by itself, not with any others. Take note of the second to last set of numbers of its id. Up on the Internet explored bar, view the source of the page. Hit control f, and it will bring up a search box. Type in the number that you noted. It will take you to that number in the source. Copy the web address of that picture, and paste it into a new window. If the picture is really tiny, keep searching for the next one in the source. There should be one that is a decent size. Once you find it, just right click and save it. It won't be good enough for prints, but it's nice to have a non watermarked picture for facebook and stuff. I did that with a few of mine, and then I'm ordering two.

I did the race with two friends and we did walk abreast at times.

However, there is an easy way to get through that... TALK!! If someone says to me, on your left/right, I will *always* move and thank you for asking me to do so.

I had one or two people be really pissy about us, but they only spoke up after the fact and not before. I can't see you behind me, but you have a voice that I can hear. :)

Kat, when we were walking to the corrals, I saw some Team Goddess shirts and tapped the person on the shoulder "Are you Kat?"...it was cantwait vaca, told us you were in traffic. :-)

Glad you finished. Were thinking of you. Go team Goddess! Thanks for posting your tshirt!

Saw the Goddesses! Loved it!
Loved the day!
Loved the race!
Loved the vibe!
Loved spending time with friends!

Did the race in 2:38 . . . not great but stopped at least 9 times for photo opportunities. Also just got over strep a few days before flying. Wasn't shooting for a fast time - just having a good time! I succeeded.

Went with 3 friends. Two made it to the finish line and one got swept - but she had the best outlook ever and just was so happy to make it as far as she did!

Doing the National Half in about a month in Washington DC and just ordered a royal blue sparkle skirt for my patriotic outfit. I think I caught the costume bug after this one! Just made it so much more fun! Maybe I'll try for a sub 2:20 at this one for a PR.

Can't wait to read some race reports!!!!!!!

Oh! And my medal was missing some BLING! I emailed them right after the race on race day but haven't heard back. Should I email again? I was hoping they would send a replacement and I could mail mine back. Not a big deal, but annoying.

My friend also had a diamond missing! Keep us posted.....

I LOVED my team sparkle skirt. It was SO lightweight. There is a HUGE 10k here for the 4th....65k people, I think I need to get me some red sparkle as well. :goodvibes

My chip time isn't accurate right now either. It sometimes takes a few days for all of the times to be truly "official." My clock time and chip time are the same...and I sure as heck didn't start with the clock! :rotfl2: I am not that fast! So I would keep checking throughout the week while the adjustments are made.

Another member of Team Goddess here! Yeah, we got A LOT of shout-outs on this race...it was great! Even announced on several of the loudspeakers (at the overpass and at the finish, etc.) so that was awesome.

I saw someone asking about the number of finishers listed and the total number registered. I *think* that the finisher list is just the women...and obviously there were some men who ran as well. But that number of 13,000+ is just the women, I think...at least that is how it is coming up on the race results. It says 0 men.

Not sure how many were swept and/or DNF. But there were certainly more than a few Puking Princesses and I saw a couple of people at med tents who were clearly dizzy and/or had passed out, etc.

This race was definitely NOT my best, but it was still great. I was doing fine for a while...10:30 - 11:00 minute miles as planned. Then I lost my hamstring. Um, OUCH! Fortunately, two other Goddesses weren't far behind me (I was just about at mile 9), so they ran and caught up and we all finished the last 4 together...they totally slowed down for me, which was amazing of them to do! And you know, those last 4 were the most painful, but they also went by the quickest since we were all together and talking and having fun!

I believe there were 600-700 men that finished the race, if you go to the race results, there is the section for women and below it has men's results.

My dad is trying to get me to do the DC half...I don't think I'll do it though.

I'm planning on writting a trip report soon. I was only on Disney property for 39 hours and managed to get a lot done, so I figure I'll write about it so I won't forget :)

Had my medal engraved at DTD and they made a mistake. They are HOPING to be able to replace it - yikes!

The Christmas store engraves. Hopefully they can get an extra. Otherwise I have someone elses time and place. I was knda mad.

Anyone else have the post race blues? I keep looking at my pictures, and watching videos over and over again. We're going back for marathon weekend in January, but that seems like forever from now.

I hope they are able to get you another one. You might try emailing the link on the website for the Disney Princess race. I tried that for my shirt, and they responded quickly. If all else fails, people are selling them on ebay. I know you don't want to pay for a medal, but if it were me, I probably would if there was no other option.

Best wishes on getting it replaced!
