Official 2011 Disneyland Half Thread!

MotoXPrincess99 -- Where did you get your "I Did It" shirt? Do we get those at the marathon? Or elsewhere?

-Jill :)

For the Princess 1/2, I bought mine at the Disney booth at the Expo. I'm sure they will have them at the Disneyland Expo as well.
And you must wear it at the parks along with your medal. It's so much fun!

Which hotel is it? I think we're going to be using the Disneyland Express.

It's the Best Western Pavillions

My TA suggested Super Shuttle or the DL Express. She said that SS would be cheaper, but DLE would be faster.

Mousesavers might have a coupon/coupon code to reduce the price.

She also said neither required advanced reservations.

Oh I didn't think of Mousesavers, I've been deleting them lately since I already have hotel and tickets.

I have a link to 5$ off per ticket (one way or round trip) on the DLE. Since it's 27 from SNA roun trip that makes it pretty cheap. Somewhere on the DL board is a thread that explains the pick-up and drop-off routes but basically my understanding is:

-From the airport: stops at Disney hotels first and then makes rounds
-To LAX: Has a specified time and route for the Anaheim Resort hotels and stops at Disney hotels last to drop off any SNA guests before going to LAX
-To SNA: Same as the above, only disembarking at Disney hotels to board a separate bus for SNA

That's just how I understood it to work. :confused3

I have the $5 off also, but there is no code so I guess you can only use it in person?
I'll have to go look for that thread.

Thanks!

I got my coupon for the Supershuttle by googling supershuttle coupon. I made reservations because I was not sure how busy they would be on Friday and Monday morning of race weekend.

Has there been any sort of meet organized over race weekend? I can't remember if it's already been talked about in this thread...would love to meet some of you and say hello if it worked into my schedule for the weekend!

I know there was talk about meeting at someplace at DTD...but I didn't write it down and its a few pages back...lol

When I was asking over in the DL forums they mentioned that DLE, while looking like you can book online, rarely does online bookings. The coupon is for in person, for sure, but usually, at least from SNA (and possibly LAX?), DLE is a pay when you get there shuttle.

We'll be arriving around noon (barring delays) and they leave every half hour. From what I could see, Super Shuttle was going to be more but now the prices seem cheaper for our party.

DLE comes to 22 round trip/person with the coupon (so 44 round trip for us). Super Shuttle, based on their website and discount codes, comes to 17 each way total (so 34 round trip for us). Both we found were way cheaper than the estimates for taxis.

Our SuperShuttle was $16.52. per person including tip round trip from SNA. I thought that was a great deal!

Your google search must have turned up different coupons than mine. Most I was finding was 10% or 3 dollars.

Could it be advantageous, if possible, to print coupons for both DLE and SS and take which ever was there and ready to go when you were ready to depart the airport?

I have the DLE ones printed but is it possible to take SuperShuttle without pre-arranging it? :confused3 The SuperShuttle codes I've found are all online only ones, too, so I'm not sure I could use them in person. 16.50/person round trip is a deal though, so I'm reconsidering DLE for Super Shuttle. DBF kind of wants DLE though so we're still a little undecided.

I'm flying into LAX and out of SNA, so I'm not sure I could get a round trip. I thought SS was a service that 'circled' the airport until it was full and then departed for the hotels

I think it does that when it doesn't have enough people to be 'full'. I would guess if enough booked online for a certain time and they all showed up, it wouldn't circle at all. :confused3 No exprience to speak of though.

Our flight gets in at 12:30 at SNA. We haven't made a decision yet about which shuttle to use. The last time we came to DL, we flew into LAX and used DLE on the recommendation of the DisUnplugged podcast. It would be really cool if we would end up on the same shuttle!

We used SS last year from and back to SNA and pre-booked it online. As we walked out of the airport, we could see where the SS vans were parked and headed that way...a guy with a clipboard from a good distance away yelled "Are you Summer?" We were the last ones he was waiting on...evidently my whole van was full of pre-books and he was checking off names as they arrived...and we were the last ones on :) Just based on that, we're going to go ahead and pre-book online again...I don't want to get stuck having to wait for a van with an empty seat if there are tons of pre-books coming in. Our experience with them last year was smooth and I thought it was a good price. Wish DL had a (free) ME though!!!

I purchased it at the Expo. They will have a lot of items for sale.

I'd like to meet up too.

If we're on time we arrive at 12:15 at SNA! :cool1: So you're for sure going DLE then? That would be really cool if we were on the same shuttle!

How did you find the pick up to go to the airport? I know DLE has a pre-set schedule depending on your hotel.

When we booked the SS online, you book your return trip as well...I think when the reservation was complete, the paperwork tells you what time you will be picked up and they just pulled up in front of our hotel to pick us up...right on time.

I really haven't decided, but based on Cripey's posts, I may give SS a look! It's sounding better all the time, and I'm not afraid to try new things!

I know that you have posted where you are staying, but remind me please. We are at the Disneyland Hotel.

What do you plan to do the day before the race? We are arriving in CA on Friday from the east coast and will go to the Expo that day. So...Saturday is a free day but I am not sure if we should spend time at one of the parks or just relax, see a movie, eat...... I can purchase tickets for $63 (one park only) and I thought it might be fun to spend a morning at California Adventure since we are only in CA until Monday. However, with this make us to tired for the race? Any advice is welcome!
Happy Running!

Based on the fact that Disney blocks annual pass memberships on the busy days and Sat is blocked for all but premium holders, I would count on Saturday being one of the busiest days in the year for the parks. So, unless you are looking forward to long lines I'd just skip it. I plan on visiting family and sitting by the pool on Sat. Total lounge, carb load, early to bed day. I may even take a benedryl to help me sleep. When I ran the Princess I was so excited that getting to bed early just didn't work. Wasn't a problem though. Total adrenaline high helped my wake up early.

I'm really getting excited. Ran (and PRed) a half in the middle of July and have just started getting back into the groove of training again. See you all so very soon.

Yeah, I'm the same. Cripey, you're definitely convincing me to go SS. :thumbsup2

MaryJ, we're staying at the Red Lion.

Well I looked up supershuttle again and found my hotel this time! So I am now booked on supershuttle :) I use them in VA, so I'm happy to be using a company I know. I just wasn't feeling any of the other companies.
I found a coupon here: http://anaheimoc.org/member_details/member_detail.asp?memberID=1114 if anyone else needs one

Thanks for your help everyone!!

Now I just have to keep up with my running, I have been slacking this summer. I signed up for a 10k on Sunday, so I hope that will keep me motivated this week.
