Offical Hurricane Frances thread!

as far as our cruise goes i could see us going to gc and kw depending on the track, but i don't think they could make gc on a three day or four day cruise, it would be interesting to see where they would go to avoid the bahamas.

Thanks guys. As long as there's no danger to anyone on land (those poor folks in Florida have had enough) and we don't spend three rainy days on the ship, I'm game for anywhere they want to sail.

Thanks, you're right about that! I'm still cleaning up!
I just want to get on that ship Sunday. I don't care where it goes! we're certainly not missing anything by skipping the Bahamas!

We're watching too mostyn17. We are supposed to drive as far as Jacksonville on Friday after school. My friend that is cruising with us called Disney this morning and they said they have never ever cancelled a cruise. My question would be though - how can they possible get all those people off the boat and us on the boat in 180 mile an hour winds - can you imagine our "welcome aboard the ship" picture - hahahaha. Let me know if you hear anything - which cabin are you in?

This forecast puts Francis in the Bahamas Thursday evening/Friday morning. I think trying to dock the Magic on Saturday morning in PC could get interesting. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

Turn North baby - Turn.

3-hour tour, a 3-hour tour.........

The weather started getting rough--the mouse ship was tossed--if not for the courage of the fearless crew, no passengers could board, no passengers could board!

Okay--my lyrics were off--but just a little humor to lighten up the hurricane thread.

And we are stuck on Castaway Cay forever!!!!!!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I will just feel better when I hear...Please welcome the Mostyn family from Pennsylvania! ::yes:: :earsboy:

selvey....i'm still cracking up over your post! LOL!! They should put on the picture....I made it through Frances! ha-ha-ha

The lady I talked to yesterday said they will try everything to get into Canaveral. But would also dock in Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale or even Miami. That sure would be a drive in a bus! ::yes::

Keep safe,
Travis

Hey there,
My whole family was cracking up this morning just talking about boarding the ship in the hurricane winds, etc. We sang the Gilligan song to but put in our own little words -haha.
What a site it would be - I guess we need a little humor this week!

I meant mostyn17 in my last thread or is it the same??? Then I see the name Travis - I am confusing myself now.

I think I'll put a new thread titled "What will our 'Welcome aboard the Ship' picture look like?" hahaha

I can't imiagine having flights coming in Thurs., Fri. or Sat. I do think they will close the airports at some point since they did last hurricane. We are driving down - hope the car doesn't blow off the highway. Everyone will be looking at us like we're crazy driving south instead of north!!

I wonder when and how we would be notified if they change ports. We're about three hours away from Port Canaveral on the west coast of FL. Not sure which way we'll be driving next Sat. morning!

So I *wonder*, if they ahve to dock the Wonder in Tampa on Sunday will they let you leave out of Tampa Sunday??
That would be a lot more convenient for me! <G>
Have they actually ever docked at a different port before?
I would thik there are other ships already in those ports.

When Charley was imminent, they had a "pop-up" on www.disneycruise.com . Everyone might want to be sure you have any pop-up blockers set to allow pop-ups on that site. I missed it at first since I had my Google toolbar set to block pop-ups.

We'll know lots more by Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

I'm with the Turn Baby Turn group. Frances, just loop out to the Atlantic. The US East coast doesn't need ANY more storms.

We leave Wednesday morning for Disney World. I will have to keep updated by calling them directly.

CPM...by the time Sunday comes. I imagine the hurrince will be long gone from at least florida. More then likely they will dock in Canaveral....unless the port would get severely damaged by Frances! They ahve docked in Tampa before. I'm not sure about the other ports though.

JUST TO MAKE IT KNOWN!!!!!!! I HATE HURRICANES!!!!!!!!!

im checking the weather report every 6 hours.im working nightshift, so my peers are laughing at me because im at the computer at 11 and 5...Looking for good news like everyoneelse

Good news--hurricane has slowed enough that yesterdays prediction that she will be in the bahamas guestimated for 2pm Friday.

How is this good news---well your welcome aboard photos for thursday might be wet, but not windy--it will be another 24 hours or so before we know what it could look like for PC on Saturday.

The bad news--mabye you'll be going to cuba--cause I see no other islands other than the keys--and they only have one port in key west...hmmmm....maybe a carri--gulf-ean cruise.Somewhere out of the rain for you guys.

Okay--she needs a SHARPER turn--the turn from Puerto Rico onward is getting steeper by each advisory--so they are either way optimistic--or mabye she will take a turn (this is on the map projection--I've been printing each advisory when available...and comparing the track projections. But still she is heading for the Bahamas :(

Let's hope Frances keeps turning north and east. The further she turns north the further I want her to turn east and miss all of us. (I'm on Long Island, smack dab in the middle of a big northerly turn. Long Island and New England 'stick out' into the Atlantic further than the south east does.)
So far Gaston has been mostly wind and rain with tornado warnings for tonight. Let's see what he brings as he heads north.
Okay now for a serious question. I leave for Florida a week from Friday to embark on the Magic Saturday, Sept. 11. How do we find out what is going on when I am away from my computer? I saw the pop up about Hurricane Charley but what do I do if something happens after I leave home? Is there a phone number to call at DCL? (I don't reacll anything in our documents. Maybe I should check again?)
My Mom keeps asking why we are going during hurricane season?(She is 79 and going with us.) Will DCL arrange for transport to a new port (Tampa/Lauderdale) for those of us who have arranged transport to the ship on our own?
Ah well I wish all of you 9/2, 9/4 & 9/5 cruisers the best of luck::yes:: happy sunny sailing :sunny: and I will try not to be too hyper :hyper: (yet)!
Off to watch the weather channel tropical update!::yes::

Ok guys im flying out of philly early tues morn ( 7 am ) for orlando, were going to disney for a week, what is the likelyhood that i will actually get to orlando!!! I am really nervous, biting thumb nails lol....:( :( :(

You are flying early enough in the week that I dont see you having problems making it to Orlando. Now whether it will be rainy or not is a different matter. We will be going Friday night, driving down and are a bit apprehensive ourselves about the timing. I think at least the latter part of your trip should be fine. Here's to sunny skies!

The current predictions at the Tropical Prediction Center show Frances near Puerto Rico on Tuesday so I think you'll have no problem getting to Orlando that day. I would be a little more concerned about next Saturday or Sunday. It looks like the storm is slowing down a little so maybe it will change direction.

Have fun.

Yay! thanks for the info, I feel like I'm reading greek on the weather channel's website LOL. ;)

They changed Magic's stop at KW for CC, are they doing anything similar with Wonder to prepare?

Hope this storm changes direction. A direct hit on CC would be devastating to the island. We leave in a few weeks and don't want to have that stop skipped because of hurricane damage.

I remember reading that a storm hit the island before. How long did they skip CC until all repairs etc. were made?
