Offical American Idol Discussion Thread

How come they had Fantasia's family back stage like that? I don't understand why they kept showing them, they only showed others families briefly after they are done performing. Maybe she hasn't been getting as many votes as they want her to, that and Simons, Thank God you're still here were very puzzling.

My Bottom 3- Fantasia, George and John Stevens.

Although I think America's bottom 3 will be different. ;)

I think that was Fantasia's sister with Fantasia's child. Maybe the lil girl would not be able to sit still that long in the audience. That's why they were backstage.

Yeah, I don't know what that was all about with bringing the little girl onstage. What was the message there? It's great to be an unwed teenaged mother? It was also an unfair advantage in my opinion. It's like the politician kissing babies and arranging to be photographed while doing it. Just my 2 cents.

Have you ever noticed how when Clay is singing his songs on tv appearances he doesn't hit those same high notes as he does on the CD?

YES! Thank god someone else noticed! I've mentioned it to other people, but they didn't get it.

Barry Manilow seemed a lot more humble than I expected him to be. Ever hear the" I write the songs", song?

*Ahem* Barry Manilow did NOT write "I Write the Songs" - Bruce Johnston (of the Beach Boys) did.

If you'd ever seen Barry Manilow in concert, or in an interview even, you'd know that he is rather humble for someone who's been around for 30 years.

:worship:You GO girl!
You beat me to the punch with your response!

That was actually her mom. It's kinda scary how they look so much alike!

I really think they brought out her daughter for a reason. Every year, they try to sway everyone's opinion. Last year they wanted Ruben, and this year they definitely want Fantasia. So they bring out her daughter to try to get her more votes. I guess she's not getting as many as the judges and producers want her to.

The little girl certainly did not seem to want to be on stage with Ryan or Fantasia.

Can't imagine why. Latoya is so classy and can actually sing without bouncing up and down. I feel like I'm at a church revival. Not that that's a bad thing

I was under that impression that even though Barry gave the contestants input on the songs that they chose, it was up to the contestant as to how much of the song changed. It was something that George said that made me think that. If I had taped the show I could go back and see.

I do have it on my PVR..... I'll check it if you will tell me a little more precisely what I am looking for..... I watched the show, but don't remember that.............P

Yes - Barry was on multiple talk shows, and said it was up to the A.I. kids to choose the song - he helped arrange the song they chose to suit what he considered to be their style. For the most part, I think he got it right. :)

Ok guys I will not be home tonight so I'm going to need all of you filling me in on what happens as soon as I get in the door.

Of course, I can see my kids calling me at the dinner I'm going to just to let me know!

And who is Stan Laurel (don't yell at me dad if I'm supposed to know that!)?

Your sister didn't know who he was either and I was surprised, since I was sure you guys had at least seen them (Oliver and Hardy) in The March of the Wooden Soldiers. STan Laurel and Oliver Hardy started in silent films and made the move to talkies as a comedy team. They were their generation's Abbott and Costello. I hate to admit it, but JS DOES look a little like Stan Laurel :)

WHEN did LaToya come off as arrogant? She's been the epitome of a lady from day one.

Jennifer and Fantasia are extremely cocky and confident, and I'm GLAD they are. Go, GIRLS!

Fantasia WILL get acting roles after that performance last night. She was better than the finals at my theatre class! She made that song hers!

Dear confused,

If you call that acting, you must think that Governer Arnold is Oscar material. Sorry, but Fantasia is being oversold by the judges. They pimped Ruben last year and picked the wrong horse and it looks llike they're going to blow it again this time. She doesn't even have a great voice, unless you're into the MAcy Gray sound, which I definitely am not.

Confidence and arrogance and polar opposites. I am impressed by someone who is confident in themselves, but equally turned off by cokciness. If I have to look/listen to Jennifer or Fantasia make faces or give lip to the judges one more time, I'll barf.

I am changing my mind about LaToya. She's different from the other two divas in the fact that she has talent and seems to be confidant in a classy sort of way. After Jasmine, I think she has become my next favorite.

Just saw this smilie - cracks me up! :teeth:

I am a George fan all the way...the only one there that I would actually buy the CD because he sounds different. The ladies all sort of sound the same as so many other female singers out there now...except Fantasia...don't care for her at all.

I think the bottom 3 should be John, George and Fantasia....I have tried several times to not watch her as she sings hoping that I will start to like her--similiar to Jennifer Hudson(who isn't bad if you don't watch her), but it doesn't work...don't like her.

I think this was a tough week to decide who to vote for.

On Ryan Seacrest (hopefully today, but definately sometime this week) the "panel of returning AI constestants" will be on. On the preview they showed Kim C., Trenyce, and Carmen. Don't forget to watch for it!! :)

Diana did a great job on that song "One Voice" That song was perfect for her. Jennifer also did a wonderful job on the song she sang, I forgot the title. I didn't think the song that Gorge sang fit him or maybe I just didn't like the way he was singing it. I didn't care for Jasmine's song and I didn't really care how Jasmine was singing it. LaToya and Fantasia did a great job as always. John did an ok job, nothing special, just ok. Now we know that his capability is limited.

The bottom 3: John, George, and Jasmine. To be voted out would be John.

My favorite this week: LaToya as always and Diana

LaToya has been consistant and I have a feeling that she will be the next AI unless she goes down hill.

I was just watching Access Hollywood and the exec producer commented that America will be stunned at who goes tonight... that they should be warned and they are see they got it wrong...
What's up with that? I hope that it is not LaToya... she is the only one I truly enjoy watching...
