Does anyone else think the judges made crappy song choices for Diana and Jasmine? Apparently Simon was the only one who picked a song that flattered his singer. UGH

I thought the same thing while I was watching!!!! Especially Jasmine. Come on Paula! Her choice for Jasmine was just ridiculous.

I'm 38 and I voted as much as I could in those 2 hours as that is what the show encourages us to do! I do not vote the entire 2 hours until its down to the final 3.

Why do some feel the need to insult others on the way they vote or their opinion on who the best singer is just because they disagree??

oh no!! I didn't mean to insult you!!
I shouldn't generalize...the MAJORITY of people who will spend a large amount of time voting for a reality TV winner is going to be the teenager with the cell phone and the regular phone going at the same time. Which is why teen favorites like Jasmine and Jon Stevens lasted so long.

You are absolutely allowed to vote how you want! No insult intended...sorry.

I didn't think Paula's choice for Jasmine was crappy. I didn't know the song, and it was a little out of place with the other songs sung, but I thought it fit Jasmine nicely. I thought she sung better last night than she has in weeks, although she still cannot compete with the other two. I didn't like the judges choice for Diana (can't remember what it was now, but I remember I didn't like it). I also do not think Fantasia did well at all on her last song. My husband agreed, she seemed like a fish out of water on that one, the emotion of the song did not come through. Even she seemed to know it, and was kind of shaking her head when she finished. I actually thought it was her weakest performance ever, and could not believe the good reviews from the judges. At this point I think they have just backed her as the winner, and will not say anything negative to her no matter what.
Over all, I would give Diana and Fantasia a tie for last night, each having two really good songs. Jasmine of course was third, but had nothing to be ashamed of last night, IMHO.

I thought Fantasia's performance on her last song proved just how good she is. That song was not a good fit for her & she still pulled it out. JMHO!

It's all good!:teeth:

I just thought you were calling old folks like me childish for voting the whole 2 hours. I'm overly sensitive sometimes!!

Also, I was not just replying to you...I was also replying to this post:

And to vote 491 TIMES???? That's not geeky -- thats RIDICULOUS!

Nope! I don't think so! I don't care for Fantasia or her style of singing at all!:teeth:

Just a few thoughts on last night :)

1st song
Jasmine: Ack ! My ears !!!!
Fantasia: She picked the perfect song for her and sang it really well...as always. She's just in a different class from the other two at this point.
Diana: Yeah, it's a SINGING competition, not a SHOUTING competition :) Still, she shouts on key, which is more than you can say for Jasmine:rolleyes:

2nd song
Jasmine: Ok, I think one of my neighbors was skinning a cat during this song, so could somebody let me know how it went ? No, really, that COULDN'T have been what she MEANT to sound like, could it ?
Fantasia: A good song for her style, but it didn't exactly show off her voice much. That's the type of song I'd expect to hear on her album.
Diana: Ok, why were they playing that friggin' song so fast ?!? Seriously, I like the song choice for her, but it was so fast that it seemed like she had to rush through it to keep up with the music.

3rd song
Jasmine: No, really....You people saying you're voting for her are joking, right ? I mean, she has yet to sing an entire song in tune...Hey, maybe she'll be the next Don Ho....A hero in Hawaii but nothing too special on the mainland.....Nah...Don could actually sing.:hyper:
Fantasia: Ok...HORRIBLE song choice...But as another poster said, it just goes to show how talented she is, since it wasn't bad to listen to at all. She's the best performer at this point by leaps and bounds....It ain't even close.
Diana: This is where Fantasia runs into a problem, though, in my opinion...This was probably the best performance of the night, including Fantasia's...If Diana was consistantly this good, I'd say that she deserves to win it. Hopefully she'll grow into it and this third song will be what she always sounds like. Just hands-down the best of the evening !

As for the comments of "they'll all be stars"...Um, wanna bet ? There is no WAY that Jasmine will sell albums...it just won't happen. See, people may VOTE out of sympathy, but I highly doubt they're going to pay $15 out of the same emotion (let alone actually listen to all that screeching:hyper: ). If she wins, I'll predict here and now that it will be the worst selling American Idol debut album of any of them...possibly ever again.

I would like to see Paula Abdul on stage singing those songs.;)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I live in the New Orleans area, and after last night's show, George Huff was a guest on the 9:00 Fox news station. He was there to supposedly critique the remaining 3, but, you know George is always diplomatic, and besides he has to tour with these ladies, so he was trying not to show favortism to any one contestant.

Anyway, as they were showing a portion of each contestant's performance on last night's show, when they came to Diana, the news anchors and George commented on what a great job she did - and they further stated to George that the Judges still gave her a hard time. Then George said something like - "yeah . . . it's a trick . . ." He didn't complete the comment, but I wonder what he meant. I have an idea, but . . . :confused3

It was great seeing him and he looked great behind the news anchors desk. He actually gave a better interview then he has given on AI. I think he will have a future in some sort of entertainment field, if not as a singer.

Go George!:cheer2:

Anybody planning on buying tickets for the tour? They go on sale this Saturday. I'm still debating.:bored:

Well I think it's hysterical that you're upset enough to post back to me like that because I hit the redial buttom while watching TV. :rotfl: :rolleyes1

Thank you!! It's really pathetic that people have to throw personal insults around over a TV show. I have no idea why anyone would care if we decide to hit a redial buttom?!?:tilt:

Don't sweat it - you vote how you vote.

I don't like any of these people enough to put forth much effort into voting. Last week I tried for about 15-20 minutes, and not every other second, either. Got through a couple of times, and left it at that.

Jasmine should be going tonight, but don't be too surprised to see Fantasia going. I think the judges even know she might go home tonight, which is why they were all over her about she didn't need AI anymore. It's true. Clive was practically leaving a drool puddle behind when she was dancing in front of him - he'll be so all over her if she DOESN'T win...not sure if he can grab her if she does. I agree the girl has talent, even if she isn't my personal favorite. I've tried all along to vote on THAT EVENING'S performance, and not just who I liked better. Last night, two out of three songs went to Fantasia. Diana had the BEST performance with Don't Cry Out Loud, but it was only that one song. She was fine on her other two, but it actually made me mad when they criticized her for shouting...she does shout, but Fantasia does as well, and never a peep. Not to mention never a peep about the "yeah yeah yeahs" after EVERY SINGLE SONG.

As long as Jasmine doesn't win, I'd be fine with either one winning. Personally, I think Diana needs it more. Fantasia will get along just fine without the win. :)

I agree and that's why the teeny-boppers are winning, because who else besides a sixteen year old has time or energy to log hundreds of votes for one person?

I voted once for Fantasia.

I'm 45 and I vote as much as I can during my 2 hours. I have the phone in my hand and just keep hitting redial! That's the way to make sure (or at least help) your favorite stay in the contest. And my 16 year old has way too much homework to do at night and doesn't have the time to sit with the phone in her hand.

That's what I did while watching TV. I usually don't tally them up but I was curious how many times I could vote in the 2 hours, I was shocked at how many votes I actually got in. My mom called for the 2 hours from NJ and only got through 12 times.

That is why I think it depends on where you live concerning how much you can get through. Obviously areas where there are more phone lines have a better chance of not getting busy signals. Population plays a part in it.

? for those who vote repeatedly.. alot... So, if AI were to go to a system that let only one vote for each phone number would you feel satisfied?

I think Jasmine could do theater work.. or become a tv personality. Her voice is ok.. she is lovely and has charisma.

Fantasia... oh honey.. if you sing Ya, Ya Ya.. one more time and the judges don't say SOMETHING!!!! I will turn off AI forever!!!!! She is quirky with her own style... just not too my liking...

Diana... this girl has shown that she can grow and be guided to utilize the gift God gave her! I hope that she does not become to show-bizzy once she wins this season

I think the judges were making a very VALID statement last night:

IMO the reason they kept praising Fantasia last night is because they have a strong feeling she is going to be voted off tonight. I think the judges were trying to get in their last words in support of her by saying: hey that kid from Hawaii may win because she is the "sympathy vote Queen", but she's NO American Idol. What they said is RIGHT ON - Fantasia doesn't need this competition anymore than LaToya did. And if she gets voted off tonight, it will be no suprise to anyone. On the contrary, the ONLY way Jasime would ever get a recording contract is if she wins AI.

I think they are hard on Diana because they know Diana is tough enough and talented enough to take the negative and turn it into something positive. She really has come a long way. And although I was not a fan of hers in the begining - I do hope she wins.

Jasmine does not deserve to be anywhere near the bottom 3. I don't blame the judges for being disgusted. I think if she wins the whole thing, she won't sell as many albums as any of the other contestants. She'll be singing full-time at a restaurant in Hawaii for tips by the time she's 20!!! :rotfl: I kinda feel bad for her because she is way out of her league.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Only teens in Hawaii will buy her album. I think if Huff releases an album - even he'll sell more copies.

I really planned to vote for Fantasia this week - believe it or not. I have always thought she was very talented, but her personality kept me from voting for her. But, as things wind down and she's almost there, I figured, what the heck?

BUT - Diana really impressed me last night. So much that I didn't vote for Fantasia. And as the judges made clear, Fantasia doesn't need to be the AI, she'll be all over the place once this is over.

So Diana gets my vote. She did a great job on some very tough songs.

Jasmine still sings better than me, but I'm not crazy enough to go in front of anyone and try.;) I still don't think Simon needs to be so cruel to her. She takes it like a man though, ala John Stevens.
