offering your seat up on the bus???

Here's a perfect example of us "nor'eaterners" from New Engalnd proving chivalry isn't dead, the Patriots let a different team win the Super Bowl this year. Just so happens it was another team from up north that took the title. Too bad those chivalrious midwestern(Colts) or southern(Panthers) teams couldn't take advantage.

Evere been on a "T" it's not as releaible as Disney transportation and oh by the way Boston weather is a little colder in the winter than it is in Disney. You should know being front the Granite state.

It's dead as far as I'm concerned. Last time I visited NYC I held the door open for a lady coming into Macy's. Her hatefull comment as she brushed by me was "You think I can't open a door? Jerk!"

Guess it's time for equal rights across the board.

I really like it when my wife is trying to hold a child and nobody offers her a seat.So what we do now is,wait in line and when we get to the front, step aside until the bus is full.Then we're first in line for the next bus.

I THINK he is being sarcastic!! the part about his wife holding a child and no one offers her a seat part anyway.........

I don't think the poster was being sarcastic. I have seen plenty of people get on a full bus with kids in their arms. I will usually stand and let them have a seat, but as a parent you cannot rely on someone offering your spouse a seat so s/he can sit down with the sleeping child. The best solution is to do what the poster suggests ... stand aside, allow others to board the standing room only bus and wait for the next bus to grab a seat.

I guess women are killing it! How sad that someome gets so threatened by what is clearly just a considerate gesture! I always hold the door for the guy or gal behind me, even if they have arms!

A person with a young child (that has to be held or carried)....no problem,they should stay in their seats.

But for kids over 9 or 10 years old, they (and their parents) should show respect for their elders and offer their seats. Unfortunately many parents with kids in the older age group simply don't care or in some cases are completely oblivious to folk holding young kids or babies and older folk.
By the same token,if someone is sitting in aseat and their young child is sitting next to them....the parent should be taking the kid onto their lap and offering the seat to a standing adult.(this is all too common.....and annoying )

As a mother of 2 girls ages 9 & 11,, you need to realize,,, they are to SHORT to reach the bars to hold on. And as for holding the backs of the seats,, often the times the buses are way to full and they get pushed towards the back and we all end up seperated. My last experience on the bus,,, my daughter age 9 was on the yellow line, bus made a quick stop and do you want to guess where she ended up?
My advice with any one children or not. WAIT for the next bus if you want to sit!
