I went to the "big" mall that is in Tulsa (45 minute drive for us), and was going to check out the Disney Store, and when I got there..... IT WAS GONE!!!!!!!!!!! :sad2: :sad2: We never even knew it was going out of business! It was completely boarded up! Now the closest Disney Store to us is about 3 hours away! I guess I will be doing more online shopping. I hate that , because I am not very big, and it is so hard to fit me, and my 2 DD's, without seeing the items! This is depressing! :sad2:

I live in Tulsa, and was horrified to see the Disney Store shut down last week! I almost started to cry right there in the mall (I know, my Disney obsession has gone a bit too far!). However, here's the story. The next day I was talking to a woman at a meeting I was attending and she mentioned that she worked at the Bath and Body next to the Disney Store. So I asked her if it was closed for good. She said no, they are just remodeling, and plan on reopening around May 1st. Originally, they were supposed to move to a temporary space during the remodel, but decided to just shut down for the three months. That same day, my dad decided to call the store to see if there was a recording explaining what had happened (he wanted the scoop since my mother and I were both so distraught over the closing). However, instead of a recording, a person answered the phone and told my dad essentially the same thing the Bath and Body manager had told me; they are remodeling the store to make it "more magical", and will reopen in May. I got the same story from two different sources, so I hope it's accurate. I just think it's funny there is no sign or anything out front to explain what's going on. Of course, someone else told me of a Disney Store in another city that closed for remodeling, but never reopened! Let's hope that doesn't happen here! I guess if it does, there's always the Disney Outlet in Branson! ::MickeyMo

That makes me feel soooooo much better. I have been to the Disney outlet in Branson, and I love it, but it's kind of hard to make that trip in a day. Very hard to justify a 3.5 hour trip for the Disney Store!!! We are going to Disneyland in 3 weeks, and I was hoping to get some t-shirts and other stuff for the trip, and when I walked up and saw the boards over the storefront, I also nearly cried right there!! I do hope that your sources are correct, and I will be checking on the 1st of May!!! Thanks for making me feel alot better!

I am also a HUGE OU Sooners football fan.... Did you see that Adrian Peterson is on the cover of ESPN magazine this month? I haven't gotten past the front cover yet, so I don't know anything else about the article. I am going to read it later tonight! :cheer2:

Well, I hope I didn't speak too soon! I was at the mall yesterday, and they had painted the wall around what was the Disney Store, and it said, "Coming Soon: Oakley and Steve Madden". :confused3 So, if it is reopening, it looks like it won't be in the same place. However, walking around, I didn't see anywhere else it could go, unless something is scheduled to close soon. I can't believe the girl from Bath and Body AND the lady my dad talked to who answered the phone at the Disney Store number would both have bad information. I may call the mall office on Monday and see what's going on. I will be really mad if I got my hopes up (and yours too!) and it isn't coming back! BTW, we went to Branson today and I had a blast at the Disney outlet! We bought a Mickey paper towel holder, napkin holder, and silverware holder w/ silverware, plus a Mushu purse for my DD, and it was only $34!! I have to say, it's almost worth the drive for that kind of deal!

I'll have to tell my DH about the ESPN mag; I'm sure he'll want to read it. He's watching the OU/Tex Tech basketball game right now, and is not happy!

If you get any more info on the Disney Store, please post the info. . I ordered the paper towel holder, napkin holder, a canister set, and a villians crystal ball snow globe online about 3 weeks ago. I got all of it for 74.00 total including shipping. I really like all of it! I almost got the silverware set, but backed out at the last minute. There is also a set of dishes I would like to have, but I would need 2 sets, so I am waiting to see if the price comes down some more! :smooth:

I was at our Disney Store today. We have 2 in my county and the Catalog Outlet at the Beach.

Wow...what a depressing site, more than usual. :sad2: Not one thing...NOT ONE THING I wanted to buy.

BTW...was that the Disney Store in the Woodland Hills Mall?

It was the last DS in Tulsa. I liked going to the one at the Promonade (sp?), and when it closed, I was actually willing to fight traffic and go to Woodland Hills, and now it's gone :sad2: I live in Muskogee, so no chance of one opening any closer to me! :sad2:

My husband called the mall office today, and they told him that the store is moving. It will be located between Reed's Jewelers and Limited Too on the lower level, and that it should open late April to early May. ::MickeyMo

I hope it opens and has better(more) adult merchandise. It seems like it has been all little kids stuff in there for awhile! It was getting a little better, but I am ready for the "old" merchandising concepts to come back. :teeth:

I totally agree. There is one very small section in our DS that has adult items. I really wish they would get some items for the home.
