I start with this topic: Does anyone remember the department stores' names before the current ones? I know Filene's used to be GFOX. Was JCP anything before that? What did Woolworth's turn into?

JCP was always JCP. Woolworth, I have no idea.

I know that Ames used to be Hills.

We had one in our shopping center in the 90s called Jamesway.

Montgomery Ward is still accessible online.

Not department store but grocery, Ameila's turned into The Grocery Outlet.

I don't know, but I remember as a little girl sitting at a Woolworth's counter eating one of the best grilled cheeses I've ever had. I also had crinkle fries.

You mentioned a Filenes..is that the same as Filenes basement? One of my favourite movies mentions it and I always thought it was made up.
