I just got here last night for a business trip. Can anyone recommend a good place to eat? We went to Mike's last night, as recommended by the hotel staff, and it wasn't good.

Are you in downtown Annapolis, near the harbor, or over near the mall? There is a McCormick and Schmicks in Annapolis Mall. There is also a Noodles & Company. There's an Outback Steakhouse near the mall. The Melting Pot (fondue restaurant) is on Rt 2 near the mall.

We live in Southern MD and shop in Annapolis often. If you are near the mall and tell me what you're looking for, I can tell you what is around.

I'm staying at the Hampton Inn on Womack. My conference doesn't end until Sunday, so lots of time in the evening to explore. This is a very pretty area! Any recommendations for places to eat or things to do is greatly appreciated.

Moving this one over to the COmmunity Board.

Thanks,

Knox

OK, you're not too far from the mall. If you like seafood, I'd definitely give McCormick & Schmicks a try. I haven't been there yet (doesn't look like the place for small kids) but I hear it's great. There is an italian restaurant - head down West St alongside the mall and make a right at the light just past Toys R Us - the restaurant is on the right before the Best Buy shopping center. If you get out to Rt 2 and head south, there is some waterfront dining there. Head north on Rt 2 and you'll see the melting pot and a few others.

Ram's Head (as the pp mentioned) is good, but it is in downtown Annapolis (make a right on West Street and head in that direction).

I'm not sure how much time you have, but Annapolis is not too far from the Bay Bridge and the Eastern Shore. If you have some time during the day to kill and feel like a drive, it's gorgeous. Also, Sandy Point Park, right near the bay bridge is a nice place to visit.

Hope this helps!!

I agree, Mike's is decidely average (I live about 1/2 mile from Mike's). You really need to get downtown to Annapolis - near the City Dock. There are very good restaurants all up and down the streets in that area. Way better than almost anything you will get by the mall, which is mostly standard chains.

Like a PP said, just take West Street (runs right in front of the mall) and keep going and eventually you will end up in the downtown historical district.

Very good Italian = Maria's - City Dock
Sushi / Asian fusion = Tsunami - West St
Good seafood = Phillips (touristy and expensive, though) - City Dock
Casual/brewery = Ram's Head - West St
Irish pub = Galway Bay - Maryland Ave

There's a ton of restaurants in Annapolis that are good.

PS - here's a link to the online version of our local magazine, it lists all the dining / events / attractions.

We've been in Annapolis for years now. I actually passed your hotel today!!:)
I have 2 really good recommendations:

1. Yellow Fin--it's maybe 2-3 minutes from your hotel on Route 2. They have the BEST happy hour. No drink specials...but all appetizers are 1/2 off. this includes soups...and the cream of crab is amazing!!! We were just there for our anniversary last week. They have really good seafood.

2. Pussers--it's downtown inside Marriott waterfront hotel. really good atmosphere and good food. We love the crab dip there. They have seating outside right on the water.

Have a great time!!!
Hope you're liking the storms tonight!!!
