We have just completed our 10 days at Disney and now onto 4 at Vero. :dance3: We are very excited to try Vero and I can't wait to report back here on Dis.. on how we like it. I am a bit nervous about the riptides and sharks. :scared1::scared1: Apparently the riptides have been bad lately. :scared1:

We talked to a really nice DVC cast member tonight at the kiosk at CBR. My dd19 and I went over there so I could show her the resort...we stayed there when she was two. We popped into the gift shop and on the way out stopped at the DVC kiosk to ask if the models for Aulani were at SSR Preview center. They are NOT up yet. Anyway...ended up chatting with DVC PAMM for about an hour I think. She LOVES VEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. She told us all about it... and how she goes 3 to 4 times a year for long weekends. I always hear such great things about Vero on Dis too!!!:thumbsup2

Can't wait to get there now. It is not as sad leaving WDW when we know we have 4 more days of Disney magic.

Hope you have fun at Vero Beach. We definitely want to go there sooner or later. Next June we have a 5-day family gathering planned at AKV. After the family gathering, my wife and I will add three more days at either SSR, OKW, or VB, three resorts we have never stayed at. Maybe you can share your insights about those resorts when we are ready to book that segment.

Thanks for checking about the Aulani model at SSR. Maybe they will have some full room mock-ups by the time we get there in late September.

As you enter the beach area they will have posted any warnings for sharks and riptides just be sure to read them. And educate your family about rip tides, as to how to get out of one.

Be sure to eat at Capt Hiram's, hope you have a fun time. :thumbsup2

Thanks..aren't you supposed to swim parallel to the beach....so you are swimming with the current and not against it as it takes you out??? Is that correct???:confused3

Yes, rip tides are usually not very wide, so swim parallel to the beach until you are able to get out of it then swim in.

Okay....... I hope we LOVE IT THERE. :thumbsup2 Packing up now....

Boy have I learned my lesson with split stays. I don't mind the SSR/Vero split, but the beginning of the trip we stayed arrival night at Buena Vista and then two nights at Shades of Green. Now at Vero we are in a 1 bedroom tonight and move to TWO Garden Rooms for the next 3 days. WHEW!!!!! LIVE AND LEARN LIVE AND LEARN. We booked Vero around Easter time so we had to take what we could get. I used to think I was a DVC Vet but boy was I WRONG. NO MORE STAYING AT "OTHER" resorts when we are staying DVC.

Have an awesome stay at VB Denise :beach: !!!! Can't wait to hear what you and your family think; bet everyone will like it lots !

:rotfl: I couldn't help but laugh when you described split stay at resorts before DVC stay begins, etc. I hate to admit it, but I too still often find myself planning the same way, adding night or nights at non-DVCs before we check in at our DVC resort or adding an extra night or two after we check out of DVC :faint: Is there any hope ??? maybe we should start a support group :rotfl2:

Enjoy that chillaxing VB state of mind :thumbsup2
Looking forward to your next update !

I'm assuming you are there now. :goodvibes Hope you got at least one room early.

Anticipation... Is waiting for Denise's take and report. popcorn::

I don't know, I don't have a good feeling! They left early right? 7:30p and no post. :confused3

WE just finished 10 days at WDW and seven at VB. Your going to love VB!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2:)

I understand how important these updates are to us, but I have to believe that edk35 has a few other things that might be a wee bit more important to do than fulfill our living vicariously through their posts!:lmao:

:goodvibes Okay we didn't leave WDW property until about 11:30. I am not sure we went the right way. :confused3:confused3:confused3 My son plugged in the information into the GPS and he picked the NO TOLL ROAD way. So maybe the way we went was right..we went through a bunch of little towns to start with.

We ALSO stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel.:rolleyes: When we got here it was around 3 I think.....and our room was ready about 3:45. We walked around and checked everything out. Then went to our 1 bedroom to change when we got the text. We actually have a view of the ocean. :) We are in room 1536. NOW remember....we are only in this room for 1 day. We check into 2 garden rooms tomorrow. Now the cast member who checked us in, told me they put notes in the computer for mouse keeping so they try and get the rooms ready first, for the members that are already here waiting to move into a different type room. So if it works out to our advantage that is good I guess. Not sure if that in turn makes it later for others checking in.

We headed to the beach and I had to laugh at our dd19. SHE IS SUCH THE CITY GIRL...and she managed to get thrown around a bit by the waves and lost HER VERA WANG sunglasses within 15 min. of going into the water. :rotfl2: We are pretty sure they were swept down the beach somewhere. The waters were not too bad ..I was expecting to be swept out and caught in riptide. :rotfl2:

We then headed to the pool after about an hour on the beach. NOW....the pool looks nice/nice slide but MAN WAS THAT WATER WARMMMMMMMMMMMM. :scared1: Actually it was almost hot. It felt like bath water. Even at WDW the pool at SSR was cool. It was kind of funny watching people's reaction as they got in. We went into the hot tub for a while so when we got back in the pool..it would feel cooler......NOT REALLY. :rotfl:

People are very nice here. Guests are very friendly and just start up conversations with you. :) We actually met another woman with her two sons that is also from MD and very close to where we live.

So it was almost 8 when we came back to the villa and decided to get pizza from Orchid Island Pizza that is close by. Well we didn't notice it when we drove in......and we didn't know it was TAKE OUT only. I called the front desk to ask where it was and if we could walk and they said sure it is one block from the resort. SO we did just that.... but there is no where to sit and eat inside. SO we ordered and then waited for it. It is a nice evening for walking and does not feel humid at all.

Our ds16 loves the place.....our ds 11 is a bit freaked about the ocean CRITTERS AND RIPTIDES but he did go in the ocean. His last beach adventure was at the gulf of mexico so these waves are pretty big compared to the little ones at the GOM. Our dd19 .....hmmmm the jury is still out on whether she loves it here or not. She was covered in sand..and her exact words were "I have sand in places that should not have sand" LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl

So that is my trip report so far.... we do like it here and can't wait to get settled tomorrow for the rest of the time here.

When we come back.........we will get a 2 bedroom and I will book it at the 7th month window. :thumbsup2 Even though this one bedroom sleeps 5...we are a 2 bedroom family. WE need two bathrooms!!! :goodvibes

We are happy to be here........... will be even more happy to get those two rooms tomorrow. :cool1:

Vero is a lovely resort and seems very peaceful at night. :cloud9: Night all....

DENISE!! Does your family never go to the Maryland / Delaware shore that is like 2 hours from home?! There are certainly rip tides & creepy crawlies there too! Same ocean doncha know!!:goodvibes

Everything in Vero closes up shop EARLY!! That was our biggest problem with Vero. Nothing open past 9:00.

I was asking the same thing!! Grew up in that creepy crawly water--down the O, hon!! Hoping to try Vero next year :)

Great to read your report, Denise!

I wasn't on computer at all yesterday, and was thinking about you and the kids the whole day.

Glad it sounds good so far!

Enjoy the sunshine today, and I hope your check-in goes ok, Tiger :)

One word of advice. If you decide to rent a boat from the marina and check out the lagoon do not let that guy send you out without an oar. It is super easy to get those pontoon boats stuck and getting in and out of a pontoon boat without a ladder is quite difficult. I was able to do it but just barely because the lagoon floor was soft and when you push yourself up your feet sink deeper causing a suction effect.

Oh and something with about a 5 inch mouth radius decided to taste me.

Gee if my daughter lost her VB glasses I don't know who would be more mad! I paid for them so I know how much they cost :scared1:! Sounds like you are having a great time! We leave for the world on Saturday - I hope that storm off the coast misses you guys before I get there!

Tell your daughter that I lost my sunglasses in the waves last week. If my sunglasses happen to wash up onshore, she can have them!
