Trip participants – Colin (43) Me (38) and Zach (8)

Day 2 31st May 2003 (lost 2 days in transit somehow??)

Up at 06.30 and went down to the Marina for breakfast at a lovely place called Fiorellis. We all had a massive breakfast for about AU$48.00. I slipped and had some toast (well I was on holiday!!). Then spent a good hour or so browsing through all the shops there. I bought Zach a lovely Buffalo Bush hat for AU$60.00 (see Koala Photo in sig). I wish I had got myself one as well so I’ll have to wait until he gets bored with it, then steal it – lucky I take a small as well. We walked back along the coastline, avoiding the areas signposted with warnings about crocs(!) We stopped off at a couple of playgrounds for Zach to let off steam, then up the main st to visit the shops – there are plenty of them!!! I had to get Zach some new sandals as he can’t get the hang of flip –flops. Also bought myself some Roxy (quiksilver) flip-flops for AU$24. Col bought me a beautiful hand printed dress for about AU$109 – Large was too big so had to get a medium – about a 14(UK – US size – 12)

We popped into a car hire place to look at the mini mokes for maybe later in the week. Then one of us had the bright idea to walk back to the hotel along 4 Mile Beach – aaagh!!!! It is 4 miles!!! Al along the beach were these tiny little holes and every so often a little ball of sand would be popped up out of a hole – we were fascinated by this and eventually saw the cause – these gross, insect like crabs scuttling like spiders all over the place – ugh!!! Eventually about 2 hours later and totally knackered, we got back to the hotel. We had a swim in the icy pool to cool off and then napped until 18.30.

I got all dressed up in my new dress and we went down to the town to this nice place called Mango Jams – Zach in a real moody as he was tired so didn’t bother ordering for him. I had Thai Fish cakes and Calamari (really melt in the mouth – yum) and Col had Japanese Chicken and Gnocchi (Love this stuff but sooo bad for me) we had a couple of glasses of red each and the total came to about AU$80.00.

We got the bus back quite early as Zach was flaking out so we went down to listen to the guy singing in the style of a club singer (a la Reeves and Mortimer) until about midnight, when we retired to our respective rooms (yeah right!!!)

Thanks for the wonderful reviews - I'm having such fun reading them!!!
