We are off to Sheffield tomorrow for DS to swim at the nationals - held at Ponds Forge international sports arena, I just wish we had a facitlity like it in London, Crystal Palace just does not compare. DS has one last training session at 7.30 in the morning and then when DH comes home from work (on nights this week) we are going to leave - hoping against hope that its not to hot, and that my leg is not to painful - fell flat on my face on a zebra crossing yesterday rushing around to get last minute things we needed. Please send good vibes to DS for a good swim and hopefully a medal which might mean he will get onto the 'World Class training programme' which will mean that we will get some assistance with expenses at the moment all we get is £125 a year from the local council and believe me that does not even begin to cover his training fees. Nationals alone has cost a fortune for 6 events £55 for him to swim £45 for us to watch!!! £350 for accomodation and there will be the obligatory 'I swam at the nationals' t-shirt oh and food and he can really eat. Oh well, when we get back there is only 4 days until our hols  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Claire ~ Hope everything goes well.

Good Luck to your DS :)

Wishing you lots of luck here in sunny Sheffield! Wishing you and your DS all the very best.

We are very fortunate to have such great swimming facilities, my DD5 has been in fantastic swimming classes in Ponds Forge since she was a baby. She is currently swimming with 8 year olds... :goodvibes

Safe journey.

Hope you had an enjoyable and succesful time in Gods own city. I will be making several trips down your neck of the woods to see the mighty premiership Blades in action, so I hope we too have a successful time. This will pass time on until we go to AKL next July - can't wait.

good luck to Daniel, :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: here are a few cheerleaders for him, i did my degree in sheffield it is my fav place in the world, try to get back once a year, if only to go to meadowhall :lmao:

Well - we arrived home today after 5 long and tiring days at Ponds Forge - although we did have a recreational swim in the wave pool on Friday, and visited Meadowhall on Saturday after DS swam the 1500m to shop and went to the cinema to see 'stormbreaker', any way I digress....

You good wishes must have helped although I am not sure if he made the world class training programme (only those achieving overall top 10 - points added up from each stroke are gauranteed this and DS came 25th out of 111 swimmers - a great achievement), he made the final of the 200m backstroke on the first day of competition entering the final in 8th place and improving this to a 5th place, he achieved new personal best times in every event that he competed in - but he saved the best to last and went into the 100m backstroke final in 3rd place and won the Bronze medal~this was on Sunday and I don't think he has taken it of yet!!! so we are hoping that he may have been spotted on the merits of his backstroke.

Back home to London and down to earth this afternoon - lots of washing and we fly to WDW on Saturday :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

:cheer2: :cheer2: Well Done Daniel :cheer2: :cheer2:

That's fantastic news, congratulations to Daniel :cheer2:

And off to WDW as well, brilliant! Hope you all have a magical time :wizard:
