Off to Neverland! Shhh..It's a Surprise! Goodbye Lemmondrops, we will never forget

We sat at that bus stop waiting for a non existent bus for almost an hour. Every bus came, but the one for DTD. In fact most of the parks had busses come and go 3 or 4 times. I think we made the right choice to go check out our room, since enough time had lapsed and it was ready.

We went on the hunt for our room. I had never stayed in the 70’s building before. It was all new for me, the Twister Games, Disco people, Giant Big Wheel and all! Lil’l Diz was in pure high heaven! We passed a water spout area on the way and he was ready to dive in. I had to promise that we would be back to play there plenty of times, but now we were on a mission to get to our room. This trip was all about my ds, but there were a few things that needed to be done to make his momma happy before we got on with his show. One being checking out our home away from home for the next 8 days. The second being, ensuring that our said home away from home was all sanitized before we dug in.

Room 405 was our spot. We had a perfect view of the middle of the 70’s courtyard and the back side of the Big Wheel. Our neighbors on both sides had their windows decorated. I was excited to decorate ours too, later. The room was as all POP rooms are, simple in decoration, two double beds, small table with chairs and chest of drawers with a TV. The simplicity was completely adequate for our needs. The POP fridge swap fridge, which I had arranged to partake in on The DIS, had been delivered with our carry on bags. But the ME checked bag and stroller had not arrived. The room was damp. The air conditioning was turned off and there was a large wet spot on the carpet, where it appeared that Mousekeeping had cleaned. I propped the room door open to vent it, while I turned our air conditioning on high, in hopes of cutting the thickness of the air down. Sleeping in a more humid room than what was outside of the room in the Florida air, was not my idea of how I’d like to spend my first evening in the motherland. Mrs. Clean took over and sanitized all surfaces of the room. The phone and remote were first targets, followed by all door knobs, inside and out. Last was anything else that possibly could be touched and finally the bed spreads both needed to be turned down and then the room was ready to be lived in.

We decided to skip DTD for the day and head over to EPCOT for a bit. I warned lil’l diz that we would not be out late. My plan was for an early bedtime, because we were hitting MK at rope drop and putting my touring plan to the test.

We headed back out to the bus stops, in hopes of a faster arrival of an EPCOT bus, than we had experienced earlier waiting for the DTD bus. Sure enough the first bus that comes was for DTD! NO WAY! I was lucky though, because at the time my DS could not read and was perfectly content sitting in the shade waiting for an EPCOT Bus. The bus arrived in minutes and in no time we were at our first park, of the mommy and son trip! EPCOT!

Am I the only one who feels like the walk from the Disney busses into EPCOT is brutal? I just don’t understand why the stops have to be so far away? One step off the bus and we were slammed with the still thickness of the humidity. We trudged our way to the entrance only to discover that we must walk all the way down to the furthest end of the entrances to enter the park. Why? Would it be that detrimental to utilize the 500 turn-styles closest to the parking lot and bus dump? Instead they make us heard like cattle to Egypt just to enter the park. What is up with that?

But what do we care? After all we were in DISNEY WORLD for crying out loud! :cool1: We stopped for the obligatory photo in front of the ball. Food and wine festival was in full swing and Lil’l Diz was obliged to pose with the rats. We moved from there to Soarin. Yes we were nuts! It was the middle of the afternoon, but I just had to get a ride on Soarin. I wanted to grab fast passes, just incase we stuck it out at the park for hours and hours and had the chance to use them. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the return window was a mere 3 hours away, which I thought we for sure could make. From snagging the Soarin FP’s we headed over to Living with the Land. Yawn, I know for most people. Not however for my lil’l diz, who loves him some science. I must add that this ride is a great time spender, if you are in the LAND and need to pass a bit of time whilst you’re waiting for your FP return time for Soarin.

Living with the Land is a representation of new and innovative ways that EPCOT scientists have cultivated various crops. From growing without soil to growing Mickey shaped pumpkins from Mickey “moulds”. The EPCOT scientists have got it going on. Lil’l Diz was happy to float along and ‘soak in’ the knowledge. There were no yawns coming from him on that boat. I was happy that he was happy. So happy that we went on Living with the Land again, when we were done. In the days to come we even went on Living with the Land something like 5 or 6 times. Now after the last boat ride, I was yawning. But my ds… was loving it, so all in all, I was too.:cloud9:

We headed over to check out how Nemo and his friends were doing. On the walk down the Hill, leading away from The Land, lil’l diz decided that he didn’t want to go on Nemo. Nemo was for BABIES and he really wanted to head over to Test Track. He gave me a whine and pout. But this momma doesn’t take to those very well. I told him to pull up his big boy underwear and suck it up. Momma wanted to check out Nemo and look at the fish, it would be fun.

The whining continued. :headache:

Momma had to pull over to the side and bend down real close and tight to give the lil’l diz a good hissper and set him straight. I explained, in the calmest Disney like hissper, which I could muster up, that although this trip was all about him and for him, I wasn’t about to tolerate any negative squash buckling from him. And that was that. It was over. Spell it O.V.E.R! Not a single sputter came out of his mouth about not riding on Nemo. And that my friends is how this momma works.:cool2:

We walked and walked and walked and walked, noticed that we were indeed “underwater” by the reflections above, and we walked and walked and walked and finally got ourselves into a clam shell. Once off, he did proclaim that it was fun watching the fish.

Go figure. :confused3

We didn’t stop to play in the interactive area, however did head over to talk to a gigantic sea turtle from Cali. I scored myself a spot on the first parental unit bench and lil’l diz found himself a spot right up front. To our disappointment Lil’l diz wasn’t picked to participate, although he raised his hand hi up in the air trying. Maybe next time he will. Those are the little things that you remember forever. Little pieces of Disney magic, just by being spoken too by a giant sea turtle.

Test track called our name next. We had to stand in the stand by line, as we had no fast passes. Now we rarely have had to stand in the stand by line, so it was quite the experience to stand there and listen to the pounding, dinging and drilling of the machinery in action. Quite the experience and quite LOUD! When we entered the “sound proof” room I wanted to remain there until it was our loading time. When we got to the edge of the “quiet room” heading into the noise, I waited until the last possible moment to move up in the line. In fact, I committed a WDW offence and let at least a space of a 20 foot gap, before I moved up. As I stood there, pretending that really I was interested in looking over all of the scientific testing equipment, I could feel the breath and firey eyes of the people who stood behind me, wishing me to move ahead.

I wasn’t budging.

Nope.:rolleyes1

Not at least until there was 20 or so feet in front of me. Really, com’on… what is going to happen if I test the fate of the line and let a gap the size of Rhode Island form between me and the next person in line? It is not like we were ANYWHERE near the entrance of the preshow. And speaking of Preshow…. YIKES! So when is Disney going to let us vets skip the preshows? My goodness, I am not sure just how many more times I can handle the preview of what I am about to do….which I have already done 30x over. I have even gone so far as to try to run into the preshow area and jump into the line of passengers waiting for their cars…only to be defeated by doors closing in my face.

Totally defeated, I had to suck it up and wait.

This time I was minding the gap between lil’l diz and I and the soon to be passengers before us. At the point that I thought I would be trampled by the anxiety of the people behind me, I urged lil’l diz to move on, with an “oh my, the line has moved without us” noted loud enough for those behind to hear. I think that move can only be tried once in a line, 2x and you really may get trampled by those behind you.

With that we finished our wait, I survived the preshow (for the record… my ds loves it) and we were down 1 of at least 10x ridden this trip for Test Track. It wasn’t quite time for our FP return on Soarin, so we opted to take in Mission Space. Orange side, all the way baby! Yea!

Just kidding. Green side or none for us. :thumbsup2

The last 2x we have visited WDW we have been able to walk on this ride with little more than 5-10 minute waits each time. This time didn’t fail to give us a grand total wait of a whooping 5 minutes. Now that’s the kind of wait I like to see, don’t get me wrong I really would love to walk on all rides, with a 5 minute wait… but what is with that? What happened to all of the people? Is Mission Space a Disney failure? I know that in its original state MS was controversial, given the fact that people have died riding it (with underlying medical conditions). But with the whole Green Side thing, one would think that it would be more a favorite. I think it is a fun ride. I do however think it could use a titch longer of a “ride” portion.

Mission Space down, our FP’s still weren’t ripe. I really did want to hit the hay early this night, in hopes of opening MK in the AM. Lil’l Diz had already had a mini melt down… most likely due to being overtired. I too was tired. Waking up before the sun, dealing with the LOUD family and the added stress with what was going on at home was all coming to a crash. We both needed some rest. We needed it quick. I explained to lil’l diz the predicament we were in and suggested we head back to the POP for dinner and bed, because the morning would come soon and we really needed to be up and at um for a great day for touring MK with my new and improved touring plan. Lil’l diz agreed, we found a good pair visitors to pass our FP’s to, and we were off for a long, long walk out of the park and long, longer walk to the buses. Next Stop POP for dinner at the food court and a bit more unpacking for momma then bed for both of us!

UP NEXT: PG. 20, 1st post ~ Stick to the Plan Stan!

I love your writing style, it reminds me of another Jen I know on here :rolleyes1

You two have to be related:goodvibes

Seriously, Great update:thumbsup2

Sounds like a great night at Epcot.

Hisper:rotfl:

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip popcorn::

"We walked and walked and walked and walked, noticed that we were indeed “underwater” by the reflections above, and we walked and walked and walked and finally got ourselves into a clam shell. Once off, he did proclaim that it was fun watching the fish."

That's because Mom is always right - even in Disney World! :rotfl:

What a great day you 2 had to start off your trip. You got a lot accomplished at Epcot which is another magical way to start things off. Thanks for the latest installment and I definitely look forward to reading more!

I love the term "hissper!". That is great...I am definitely going to start using that word :rotfl:
Thanks for your update which reminded me that I need to pack something to clean our hotel room with :scared: I love reading about the Finding Nemo ride too since I haven't been on it yet. It's crazy how many new things have popped up at WDW in just 2 years.

Another great update Jen! How fun that both windows next to you at POP were decorated! Were they DISer's? We've never decorated our window before but I am planning to in October.

Your Epcot day sounds great - just a little bit to get your feet wet before the "real" touring begins! Samantha loves Living with the Land also - one of her favorites at Epcot.

Looking forward to more!

Loved the update Jen...as usual! :thumbsup2 SOunds like a really nice afternoon/evening at Epcot. I have never been on Living with the Land, but I really want to try for that on our next trip! MIssion Space? Not so sure about that one yet! Maybe...:rolleyes1

Good job on the cleaning! I always do that as well. A Dateline episode will do that to ya! Hotel comforters = :scared1: (even if it is at Disney!)

Looking forward to more! popcorn:: How bout some more pictures, please? I'm just sayin...

:rotfl:  :rotfl2: I thought we were the only one's like this...last trip the kids were wiped and super whiney about waiting in line for fantasmic seats....DH bent over and whispered "This is the Happiest Freakin' Place on Earth, there will be NO more crying" there wasn't and everyone loved the show...it just had to be done. I of course had to bite my lip to keep from laughing!

I love your writing style, it reminds me of another Jen I know on here :rolleyes1

You two have to be related:goodvibes
We are not related...but we are similar in a lot of ways.:) Too funny, huh.

That's because Mom is always right - even in Disney World! :rotfl:
!
Mom's are ALWAYS right! After all, we are the smartest!
I love the term "hissper!". That is great...I am definitely going to start using that word :rotfl:
A great DIS friend once shared that one. I use it ALL of the time now! :)

Another great update Jen! How fun that both windows next to you at POP were decorated! Were they DISer's?

Neither showed that they were...unlike mine! It was plastered all over my window! I am trying to recover those pictures. They have disappeared from my Iphoto. Seems I have too many pictures and it is eating them! We are long over due for a new computer. We got ours when lil'l diz was born.... ouch! At least we got the $$ of it!
Thats because we have SMART kids. ;)
Good job on the cleaning! I always do that as well. A Dateline episode will do that to ya! Hotel comforters = :scared1: (even if it is at Disney!)
YIKES that kind of stuff scare the bajeebers out of me.
How bout some more pictures, please? I'm just sayin...
Sara
So about that... Seems that I am having a ton of problems with my Iphoto and with my uploading. I am thinking of looking into a new picture server. Anyone know of a good one?
DH bent over and whispered "This is the Happiest Freakin' Place on Earth, there will be NO more crying" there wasn't and everyone loved the show...it just had to be done. I of course had to bite my lip to keep from laughing!
:lmao: I think we ALL have those moments... even at DISNEY! At least you both know how to nip it!

Trust Jen... There are going to be QUITE a few more of those kind of moments coming up on this trip once we are joined by the BRAT!

Another great update! I hope that my little boy is half as sweet as yours!

About pictures...

I've been using photobucket. Seems to be working OK. I haven't tried any of the others yet.

Another great update, Jen! I look forward to catching up when we get back from vaca - we leave early tomorrow morning for DCL, can't wait!!! I'll give you a full report when we get back. :yay:

We also booked our WDW trip for Feb. 2009, so I'm definitely getting my fill of Disney excitement!

Good luck with everything you've got going on leading up to school - looking forward to seeing you back there in a couple of weeks!! :woohoo:

Missy

You may have got the slow CM but wooohoooo you got your request :thumbsup2

Now no more updates for 2 weeks OK :rotfl:

Nope Sorry Jo. That will teach you to go on Vacation.. I've done TR's too:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

70's was a quite area for us...We have done the 50's 2or3x's, 60's, 70's and this current TR.. 80's.. I stil like 50's best...quite and over looking the lake and the SAD EMPY Bldg.s':sad2:

I hate MK's worse.. it's like they are rubbin it in that you are "VALUE":snooty: You SHOULD have to WALK FROM YOUR RESORT.
. From snagging the Soarin FP’s we headed over to Living with the Land. Yawn, I know for most people. Not however for my lil’l diz, who loves him some science. I must add that this ride is a great time spender,
GREAT is such a strong word here

I am happy that your DS loved it...hope he always has the thirst for knowledge BUT 5 times ??:scared1: :scared1: I have ridden it 2 times.. once on my "Disneymoon" and once in 2006 with the kids... even they said NOT AGAIN EVER:rolleyes: Being that I grew up a farmer.. I should have been facinated...

Jen's version of SCARED STRAIGHT:eek: :rotfl:

And they did not throw you out of the park?

YIKES! So when is Disney going to let us vets skip the preshows? We have done that .. doors were open... as we walked into the room and we just kept walking.. so did some other people.Felt like I had just won a Marathon.:thumbsup2 :woohoo: :woohoo:

Suggested we head back to the POP for dinner and bed, because the morning would come soon and we really needed to be up and at um for a great day for touring MK with my new and improved touring plan. I LOVE handing FP's to people then leaving the park. If we use Joshua's GAC Card we always grab a FP for something... and give them to someone as we are leaving the park and they are coming in.

I told you I always make it... but I am usually late;)
Great update as always Jen

Great update -- you know -- I am one of those people who by-passes Mission Space. The last time I rode it was in 2004 (during Hurricane Charlie when they closed Epcot early) I don't know why I haven't ridden.. maybe I will have to do it again in November. Did you make your dining plans or touring plans yet?

I hope that my little boy is half as sweet as yours!
That was the sweetest thing to say. Thank you!

I've been using photobucket.
That is what I am using, but it seems to have some downloading issues with the MAC. Or it just may be user error too. :confused3

we leave early tomorrow morning for DCL, can't wait!!! I'll give you a full report when we get back. :yay:
 I am so excited for you! Fay should move out of the way by then too. Have a FAB time!
We also booked our WDW trip for Feb. 2009, so I'm definitely getting my fill of Disney excitement!
Where are you staying this year? GF? Or are you willing to try WL again...with a non refurbing pool?

Thanks, I need it! All of these open houses and orientations are adding up to a lot!
70's was a quite area for us...We have done the 50's 2or3x's, 60's, 70's and this current TR.. 80's.. I stil like 50's best...quite and over looking the lake and the SAD EMPY Bldg.s':sad2:
Did you feel far away from the main building in the 50's?

Great update, cant wait to hear about your trip after the Brat joins you!
I have a full day of bliss without her before we get ran over by her.

I don't know why I haven't ridden.. maybe I will have to do it again in November. Did you make your dining plans or touring plans yet?
They didn't have the green side the last time you did it. Try that next time.

I do have pretty much everything taken care of for Nov/Dec. How about you?

.............................................................................................

 COME OUT LURKERS! WHERE ARE YOU???

Did you feel far away from the main building in the 50's?

Nope I felt further away this past year in the 80's.. however I was closer to a pool, The Bus stops and the Parking Lot... it was outside our door.
Best part of our trip... almost.

Jen,

Another goodie. Does the Mk day also bring new friends just not the "brat"?

Michelle- Sorry, I didn't get a chance to repsond to you. I've been in Boston since Wed. Yes, I can't wait to hit WDW in just a few weeks and celebrate a milestone bday with my best friend(dsis). It's the years that end in 9 that scare me more than the 0 ones.

Annette:)

I just stumbled across your report this morning and managed to finish it all today before I had to go to work. And I love it! I love your writing, it makes me feel like I'm right there with you. And your son is so cute!
Can't wait for more!

Hey! Love the update. My two favorite parts were "hissper" and "pulled over to the side" :rotfl: I giggled reading your report like I was a man with a new electronic gadget.

I have a few posts to catch up on...

OMG with the lady and her knees to your back! Usually when that happens with me I put my seat back all the way and then don't lean back in the seat. I hardly ever get to lean back with the kids anyways. LOL

And that was too cute that everyone on the plane said Happy Birthday to your boy! I bet that just made his day!

Kill them with kindness...that's a great motto! And at least your flight down was uneventful after that!

And you are so right on with the sippy cup. Both of mine don't use them at home but on flights (or traveling anywhere) I do. I can't stand the mess and it makes it so much easier on me.

Yay on your room request at Pop! Sounds like you got a pretty good room as well.

And lastly, what a great Epcot night!

Can't wait to hear more and how you MK day went with your new touring plan...
