Off to Neverland...A BOGO Trip Report! PG 44 ~ It's over

I woke up this morning feeling a bit like I needed to keep sleeping. I had that funny feeling in the back of my throat. My body was feeling tired and my head…ohhh my head, felt like I joined in a couple of ‘Trips Around the world’ like back in my younger sorority years…much younger. When we would tour our favorite fraternity house and play a game of what was called drinking around the world. Each room would have a different drink. Each drink Represented a country. We were given a passport upon entering the frat house, which was to be stamped at every country after you drank the designated beverage. Your goal was to fill your passport to win a prize. What was the prize? A well deserved gigantic hangover.  After all if you drank that much liquor you did deserve to deal with the consequence.

So I was feeling like a dump truck hit me. :headache:

A hangover??? It sounds kind of like...

But I was not suffering from too many Lapu’s. I was indeed suffering from what I will call a WDW Overdose.

Yep...that's what I thought...:sad2:

We had been touring and touring. Until the day before, my commando ways had not allowed for a break…of any kind. Sure we headed back everyday to nap our kinder. But until yesterday I had not napped myself. My body was feeling it. It ached with hate. It hated me for what I had done to it.

Oh no! I'm sorry...how awful!

DH, being the great man he is got the kids ready, whilst I took my time, slowly purdying up myself. My head was throbbing and my throat was soarin…and not over Cali either.

Very sweet of your DH, but I feel terrible for you:sad1:

Well, at least my DH was happy. Chefs de la boyaredee being one of his ALL TIME favorite places, to eat in WDW, and all. Mostly for the ambiance and NOT for the food IMHO, but he would never ever admit that one.:confused3

Hmmm....I have NEVER ever...not ONCE...even had the urge to eat there, but couldn't tell you why:confused3

I had the beginnings of a cold. Bummer! I tried so hard to stay healthy for the trip…just to get sick during the trip.

That happens to Michael almost every trip...:headache:

BOGO Alert:

I’m not sure what it is about dining at this restaurant. Both time we have eaten there, the food has not been of the highest of quality, but the service was of the snobbiest! It begins as you check in at the podium; there really is no magic there. The CM’s make you feel as if you should bow to them for even checking you in and seating you.

Despite the fact that we told the CM's at check in that we needed a highchair, it was not at our table. Upon being seated, it was like a felony to have brought a small child into this establishment. When we asked again, for a high chair, we were given a huff by the CM and she stormed off. Never to be seen again… Seriously.:rolleyes1

OMG...how stinkin' rude is that?? Yeah, sure...the ambiance, eh? No thanks...

We had to wait for our server to get the time to make it to our table. When he did, we again asked for a highchair. He did bring us one, but not before immediately asking IF we were on the dining plan? With our answer of, “Yes”, we were almost lectured as to just WHAT we were ALLOWED to order and WHAT we were NOT. That didn’t go over to well for me (you know the inner-self came out…the one who BITES). I was quick to correct the server, with the FACT that I am entitled to order ANYTHING on their menu, if I want. If I CHOOSE to order something not within the specifications of the Meal Plan, I have the right to pay OOP. PERIOD!

Thank you...you've just sealed it for me...NEVER will I eat there..I'm getting p.o'd FOR YOU...

The menu selections were less than par (again IMHO)…just sayin… :rolleyes1

Big surprise there...

My DH’s Started with the Cassolette d'escargots de Bourgogne au beurre persille…AKA snails in parsley and garlic butter

PICT1090.jpg

Eeeewwwwwww:scared:

I ordered Chocolate Milk for both kids. Up until this point it was pretty customary that EVERY restaurant had given TINK a beverage and not charged us. I know, I know…she wasn’t officially on the dinning plan, but they said that she eats for free...so they’d give her milk. All of them, until this place that is. When we got our bill, as usual we were expecting to sign off on the meal. Nope, this time we had a separate charge for the MILK. It appears that the brown MILK at Chefies is not included. Should we have ordered WHITE MILK, it would have been OKAY, but not here. With a grumble, grumble we paid for our 2, 6 oz cups of VERY LIGHT Brown milks…$6…?:headache:
You have got to be kidding me...is that right?? I thought that milk(s) and juices were included - Michael's had chocolate milk with meals and we've never been charged extra for it...

Oups, I almost forgot my favorite course, desert. Maybe I forgot, because it was no winner either?

PICT1102.jpg

What IS THAT??? :crazy2:

At this point Tink decided to throw a fit and wanted some milk. For the simple fact that she had already devoured 2 sippy cups and if we let her, she would only drink liquids to fill her tummy…we decided no more milk. She didn’t like that idea and her head started shaking back and forth, while she screamed. Exorcist Child?! :scared:

OMG...like you really need THIS while you're not feeling well...:sad2:

As we left Chef de la la-la’s my DH, suggested that maybe NEXT TIME we would have a better meal. :scared: WHAT? :scared1: There is going to be a next time? Man, this guy will not give it up. 2 terrible meals and he still feel’s the need to sit in ‘France’ and be tortured with a crappy meal and service. Go Figure!
He can't be serious! Wasn't here there the whole time?? I don't get it...

Everyone was pooped out after the torture lunch. Mommy was feeling like yuck even more and Tink with her temper tantrum was proof that she was fixin for a nap. So back we went to rest up. We had a big date that night. Everyone, and I mean everyone needed to be rested and ready to go!

I hope to read that you woke up feeling better and refreshed!!!

Being sick at WDW sucks. Last July we drove down with my sister and my brother. Sis was sick before we left with a summer cold. By the time we got to WDW sis no longer sick, but brother & I needed lots of cold meds all weekend.

As we left Chef de la la-la’s my DH, suggested that maybe NEXT TIME we would have a better meal. :scared: WHAT? :scared1: There is going to be a next time? :lmao: :lmao: I love his optimism!

Sorry you had to endure ti, but I thank you for reporting on this meal. I've had a hankering for Chefs for some time, but always wind up making ADR's other places. Clearly, some part of my sub-concsious knew... :scared:

If it's any consolation, I always get a cold toward the end of our extended WDW trips. In fact, I'm fighting one now. Hope you get some much needed rest and feel better the next day!

Being sick in the world does suck! But if I had to be sick somewhere...that'd be the place. It was a cold...I'm sure it was caught on the airplane or from so surface I touched without cleaning my hands after.:confused3 Oh well!

I do hope others have had a better experience at Chef de la la-la's or whatever your wnat to call it. My DH STILL THINKS he will be going there again. Maybe if it goes under new management...or the French stop eating Fries... Otherwise I just might send him alone, to get a break...from him (LY/MI hun)

I have more to post! WHOO-HOO-ty! I had it ready last night, but my DH booted my butt of the computer so he could use it. Apparently had to update his resume;) or something like that. Funny though, cause he came running out to tell me the IPHONE went down in price by $200. I mean he came RUNNING! He's been waiting for Oct., to buy it b/c our plan comes up.

Today was a very sad day for this Mommy! I had to let go of my baby...so he could go to Kindergarten.:sad1: :guilty: :grouphug: :sad1: I miss him already! I am uploading the pic's now and I will post the sad moment when I can.

So here is to another update to this TR...let it be known that I am going to finish it SOON!:cool1:

Where’s the Partay?

We woke up at 4 for a 5PM ADR at Ohana’s. We rush, rush, rushed all over the room trying to get ourselves Purtied up for our big bash! I was not feeling the mood to dress up, as I was really feeling the body aches and pains at this point.  Everyone needed extra layers on underneath their partay attire. I didn’t want to ruin the kiddo’s costumes, so layer and layer upon another layer underneath it their cute get-ups it was. Tink was Princess Aurora, Lil’l Diz was dressed as Petah and DH was a Pirate Daddy, thanks to a fellow DIS’R who made me a great image to transfer to a T (long sleeve of course).:thanks: I was dressed as a mommy. A mommy with a Princess crown. I too had a Mommy Princess shirt to wear, but was feeling too cold to wear it, so I had a sweater and jacket on.

When they announced the Party I had thought to have my sweet little DD dress as herself…TINK, but I was too late to pick up an after Halloween Tink get-up. So Aurora it was. And how I heard about my mistake over and over again. From DH, From the CM’s from other guests who would ohh and awhh over the kids in lines and on the monorail. Being sick and all…at one point I was about to yell, “OKAY People I got your point already, so I don’t win mommy of the year…at least I can be mommy dearest!” I didn’t but I sure as heck wanted too.:headache:

Rested, purtied-up and ready to go to the partay…we were off to our evening adventures. Being that it was now 20 minutes until 5, the bus idea was completely not happening. We caught a cab in the front of the Boardwalk. The wonderful greeters bid us a good night, held the doors open to the cab and helped us all in. Again, this was another reminder of why and how much we LOVed the Boardwalk. We gave strict directions to get us to the POLY, ASAP and and extra tip was in it for the driver. :car:

We made it just in time. Wooohooty!

BOGO ALERT!
I LOVE Ohana’s. My DH loves Ohana’s and our kiddos LOVE Ohana’s. Ohana, meaning Family is a great place to go for a fun family meal away from the parks. This place is so much fun and the food is great! We asked to be seated in the Main Room (Hint…be sure to wait a few extra minutes for this room if you have little ones, otherwise you will feel left out, as we did on our last visit). We were given a little bit of extra magic as our “Brother” sat us next to the windows with a perfectly clear view of the castle! This was an even more special treat when WISHES began (and early showing due to the P&P Party). They dimmed the lights and piped in the music for the restaurant to hear.

The fun never stops when you are dining here. Every few minutes a lovely woman (who’s name is escaping me) plays the ukulele and sings Hawaiian songs...like… “I wanna go back to my little grass shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii”.

Come on sing with me!

They also play games with the kiddos throughout your meal. Which works great for us, because the meal gets long and the little kiddos, bless their hearts get pooped out waiting for dinner to be done.

IMG_0534.jpg

Here is my Lil'l Diz being all limbo while shaking his booty.

The meal is served family style. You can ask for more of anything that you are loving, but beware that it is hard to get to the end without having a tummy ache… and the end ROCKS! The meal starts off with Fried Wontons, which are served with 3 sauces. My favorite is the peanut sauce, but my DH loves the chimichurri sauce and harissa sauces too. They also bring out a wonderful Mixed green salad with a honey-lime dressing that is out of this world!

The appetizers are Spicy-sweet and sour shrimp (which is served peel and eat style.), Honey-coriander chicken wings (sticky wings…yummo).

The meats come next with some great side dishes. The meats are served off of long skewers, fresh from the fire. You can choose some or all of the following meats as the CM’s bring them around: Marinated Sirloin Steak, Asian Barbecue Pork Loin, Mesquite Grilled Turkey or Hawaiian Pork-sausage. The sides they serve are Maui Scalloped Potatoes & Stir-fried Vegetables.

It is about this time, every time that I am stuffed. I mean like a stuffed animal sitting a Lodge floor. STUFFED! There is no room to be stuffed at this point. One must find room for dessert. Must! There is no choice in the issue. I wish it wasn’t true. But it was. My nose had completely stuffed. I had a full-blown Disney World cold, and with it my sense of taste was gone. Dead Gone! Right before the Last, but not least Bread Pudding with Bananas Foster sauce…ohhh just the thought makes my mouth yearn for it… ohhh … ahhh…. I did try some. Just to say I had some. Couldn’t taste it. But loved even the feel of it in my mouth. This is just the more reason that I need to go back for some Disney Magic!

OHHH NOOO! I almost forgot the most important part…
While you are there don’t forget to get your Lapu Lapu or 2 or 20… they are yummy!

Pictures are worth a thousand, million words. But I wasn’t feeling it this night, so the only pictures you get are from my DH.

The minute WISHES was over we were 1,2, 3 out of there! Onto the Monorail and on our way to the PARTAY!

The monorail was PACKED. Let me tell you it was PACKED. Full of Princess, Pirates and home boy’z alike. I was just about to freak out. I was worried that we had made a poor judgment choice in spending the extra $$ on the tickets. Would it be swamped? Would the kiddos be too tired out? Would we spend our 4 partay hours in lines and not see Cap’n Jack or get our disco moves on with some marine life?

That is too bad that your cold prevented you from fully enjoying your meal. Your Lil Diz sure looks like he was having fun!

Great report.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I hope that she is ok.

On a lighter note - I took my cousins to Ohana in July- they had a blast.

I am sorry that you did not have a good time at chefs de france... i always felt that it was one of the better restaurants in Epcot - I guess I just got lucky :confused3

Oh man I'd hate to get sick at WDW!! And not get to taste the food! that stinks!!! I am hoping to get a window seat when we go to Ohana's... even more now!

Hugs... I will cry I am sure!

Chefs looks so pretty with the glass windows and stuff, but I enjoyed hearing what you thought of it. I doubt we hit it! Glad you went to OHana's .... we did not get there our last trip!

Waiting to hear about the party!

I'm sure Tink still looked absolutely adorable as Aurora, DS looked like he was having lots of fun at O'Hana's. So sorry about your cold

So how was the first day of school?

I am in total shock that my baby has begun Kindergarten! A few tears were shed, as his teacher led the class away. Knowing that yesterday was the first day of the rest of his life made my heart felt sad, but wonderful. School is a gift for us in America. We are so very lucky to be given the gift of education. My DS is so very excited to learn. I just hope and pray that I can keep that attitude in him forever. We have talked a lot about how exciting his education will be, how fun & how challenging it will be too. We show and tell him that it takes a lot of hard work to succeed. Success is when he has accomplished his tasks to their fullest, without a doubt he has done the very best he could do(that is all we can ask of him). Simply to be the very best person that he possibly can.

IMG_2136.jpg

A picture with 'Tink'. She came screaming to me in the morning. Crying that "Lil'l Diz is leaving me, mommy!"

IMG_2160.jpg

I sent his teacher an email last night with a few of the things he learned on his first day of Kindergarten. I was hoping to give her a smile. She replied that she was smiling all morning, thinking about what he thought. I will share the list:

I want to share some of the things that 'Lil'l Diz' learned today, in no particular order. They made me smile. I hope they do the same for you.

1. Be careful to pee in the toilet. Some kids forget and pee outside of the toilet.
2. Make sure to stand behind the carpet when waiting for a drink. One day a kid was bumped while he was drinking from the fountain. He got a bad cut on his lip.
3. I get sick if I go too fast on the tire swing.
4. I made lines and up & down lines and curving lines in art.
5. Some kids talked during nap time. I was very quiet, but I had to try to say, "excuse me" to Mrs. xxxx, so that I could go potty.
6. I ate a lot of lunch, but I didn't eat my corn.
7. Some teachers EVEN get nervous on the first day of school.
8. I was the LINE LEADER when we went into the GYM.
9. I had recess 2 times in one day!

The best for last~
10. I wish Mrs. xxxxx(name mispronounced) lived in our neighborhood. She is the very nicest teacher I ever had.

This week has been especially hard, for me, with Lil'l Diz starting school. Normally grammy & I would have been talking everyday about the preparations for the first day of school. She would have been on the phone with me the minute we had dropped him off, checking to see how it went. I would have needed to bring him straight to Grammies after school so she could talk to him and see how his day was. There would have, probably been a little special 'treat' for the new kindergartener. Most likely he would have gotten a phone call the night before wishing him good luck.

None of it happened.

I did call and tell her all about it. She was happy for him. She even called him last night to talk to him...this is a very rare thing these days, so it was even more special.

She is still with us, but in so many ways she is not.

Life really changes, in many ways when you loose your 'mother'. Cherish yours everyday! Even they days that you are at each others throats. Time goes fast and tomorrow may bring a life without her.

UP NEXT: Pirate & Princess Party, part 1 ~ PG 40, post 491

Oh Jen :sad1:  :sad1:

Lil'l Diz man looks so grown up and proud and I love his list how sweet of you to e-mail it to his teacher.

Lastly a great big enormous

ohhh my head, felt like I joined in a couple of ‘Trips Around the world’ like back in my younger sorority years…much younger. College-kidcot!! :woohoo:
So I was feeling like a dump truck hit me. :headache: But I was not suffering from too many Lapu’s. I was indeed suffering from what I will call a WDW Overdose.
I know the feeling - quite well unfortunately.:sad2: Well lo and behold they did! :scared1: They had a noon ressie and we were the happy recipients of it! Well, at least my DH was happy. Chefs de la boyaredee being one of his ALL TIME favorite places, to eat in WDW, and all. Mostly for the ambiance and NOT for the food IMHO, but he would never ever admit that one.:confused3

We got our grove on and our butts in gear and headed over dine with the Chef’s. We were moving slowly. Mostly because I just wasn’t up to par. The meal was not wonderful; as was the last time we ate there.
I have to say when we ate there last year the service was impeccable. Our server was attentive and very sweet to the kiddos. The food - eh. I could get better at Petite Boulangerne in the mall.:confused3
PERIOD!
Wow. I'm glad you spoke up. I know I would have gotten all ghetto on him/her.

Today was a very sad day for this Mommy! I had to let go of my baby...so he could go to Kindergarten.:sad1: :guilty: :grouphug: :sad1: I miss him already! I am uploading the pic's now and I will post the sad moment when I can.
Awww... I feel your pain.

The meal is served family style. You can ask for more of anything that you are loving, but beware that it is hard to get to the end without having a tummy ache… and the end ROCKS! See the meal sounds yummy, but I don't do meat on bones, meat in casings or turkey. I do love their breakfast, though! :teeth: Now what about the kids? Did Lil Diz eat from the same platter or do they have child offerings like Garden Grill?

The monorail was PACKED. Let me tell you it was PACKED. Full of Princess, Pirates and home boy’z alike. I was just about to freak out. I was worried that we had made a poor judgment choice in spending the extra $$ on the tickets. Would it be swamped? Would the kiddos be too tired out? I'm beginning to regret not doing this party. I mean really, really regret it. :sad2:

How did Tink do without big bro home with her? Did you do something special for her also? I can't believe that he is the class of 2020. That sounds so far away and close at the same time.

:grouphug:

Loved that you had updates. I have been away for a while and finally had a chance to check it out - had fun catching up. Our DS started Kindergarten as well - he fell asleep on the way home - and slept until the next morning - missing dinner etc. He was so tired from it. The next morning he kept saying school is lots of fun, lots of fun.

Thanks for the updates - hope to see you soon!

Your Lil Diz looks so grown up and it is very sweet that Tink did not want her brother to leave her for school.

So cute lil diz man looks -- He is going to do wonderfully.:thumbsup2

and right now -- I am going to give my mom a hug - Those were some very heartwarming words.
