Ok, I need advice from you off-site food lovers out there!

Bit of background, we are going over for our wedding, and I know some of us are quite happy to stay on site and eat in the restaurants/food courts etc.

However, there are others that are concerned about the cost of eating in the parks all the time, and have asked me about the options for eating offsite, in particular ones that are easy to get to without car hire.

I've said DTD (although this is technically on-site still) - are there any off-site places walkable from DTD?

Also I've said you can get a Lynx bus from the TTC to Old Town Kissimmee, I know there's a Ponderosa there, but to me it's a faff to get Disney transport to the MK, monorail to TTC, then bus out to Kissimmee.

Can anyone help me out here, or would you say that only with a car hire is it easy to do this?

I'm a Disney food lover and it's all about convienience for me, so this is a topic I'm not too great on!

Your best bet will be to take the Lynx 50 from TTC and stay on until you reach the Seaworld carpark. You can then transfer to the Lynx 8 (no extra cost if you get a transfer from the driver of the 50) or catch the I-Ride trolley. Both vehicles serve International Drive, but you need go no further than the Pointe Orlando area as there are loads of good eateries in the vicinity.

The Crossroads shopping centre is walking distance from DTD and has a few restaurants there...

Yes Crossroads is easiest option if you don't want to be bothered with transport. Its about 15-20 mins walk from DTD.
There is Orlando Ale House, Black Angus, Olive Garden, Cici's Pizza, Hooters, Buffet (opened last year forgot name) plenty more.

We stayed in the Buena Vista Palace last year and yes it is walkable to Crossroads, but to be honest we took a cab as even at night it was sooooo hot. It was only a few dollars and our cab driver gave us a card and the restaurant phoned for him to come back for us when we were ready to leave.
Can`t tell you anything about buses as we had a car, but cabs are cheap and we used them a lot so we could both partake of the delicious cocktails on offer:woohoo:

As others have said plenty of choice at the Xroads & all along the 535,to add to the list Olive Garden,Uno's,Golden Corral,IHOP,Denny's,Perkins,Bennigans,Kobe,Jungle Jims,TGI,Outback,Black Angus........
I would take the Disney Transport to DTD/Marketplace & either taxi or walk from there.
HTH SD:thumbsup2

Jungle Jims is closed now. Must be at least a year since it shut, can't remember when.

definately go to the Orlando Ale House, just down the raod from DTD, near crossroads, Cheap Beer, always have specials on, cheap food, massive portions, reminds me of a traditional US sports type bar.

Another vote for Crossroads :thumbsup2

I agree with you that buses etc to I-Drive and Kissimmee etc are a faff!

Crossroads is definitely walkable from DTD and a really nice stroll (often shaded by the large trees outside the non-Disney hotels - such as Grosvenor and Hilton etc. (By the way, I have a very bad aversion to walking (as DH will tell you;) ) so if I say its a nice walk- then it must be!!!!:lmao: )

One question - no one seems to have mentioned the fabulous Red Lobster at Crossroads - but I haven't been for 5 years - please tell me its still there???!!!:guilty: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great advice as this was questions I was going to post but hadn't yet got round to it!

yes its still there, Not somewhere we go as DS, and DW won't eat anything out of the sea (exept tinned tuna:lmao: ). I love sea food, can't wait to get on Disney cruise in 2 weeks to eat seafood til it comes out of my ears.:goodvibes

Thanks so much everyone, this has been really really helpful!

Crossroads sounds like the most convienient option then, as it only required one bus from the resort to DTD and then it's just a walk (or taxi) away! :thumbsup2
